I think your mother's brit is showing. It's 100% INgenuity. As to the point of the episode, great DM tip. I think the key thing there is to notice that Eric thought "Ah man! My player's outsmarted me, this sucks!" but his players thought "Ah! We outsmarted the MONSTER! We're awesome! This is great!"
Re: pronunciation of "ingenuity", I'm wondering if maybe you're thinking "ingenue" which has the soft ae sound at the beginning of it, vs the short i sound at the beginning of ingenuity. ❤
Pathfinder Adventure Path's are great imo. I'm running a longterm campaign off of what I think is one of the worst AP (Second Darkness). The trick is finding things to add to fix it.
Only confrontationally motivated GM's consider it a fight with their players. I approach GMing as I have a story arc that I think is cool, and that I want my players to run through in the hopes they also think it's cool. I'm not trying be Dark Souls and see how many times this one NPC I built can TPK my friends, forcing us to start over. That's not the goal for me as a GM. To me, if the party wipes....well the story's over. It didn't get a conclusion, there was no dramatic resolution, hell they didn't even get to MEET the NPCs that were instrumental to the HOURS of prep work I put into this campaign. Why in the seven hells would I want to just kill them off before they've even left the prologue starter town? To me, ttrpg is like group improv, with the GM as the host/director, and the players as the improv troupe. I give them some broad framework of the situation they are finding themselves in, and then they improv how they're going to handle it. To me, that's the core of a fun gaming experience.
yes exactly!!!! Like fights should be challenging but in no world am I (Vic) trying to TPK. They have stories and I've woven the stories into the world! We should get to tell them. That's why I'm also a fan of either plot driven death or character retirement

We want to try pathfinder! Vic has never played
@@IdCritThat I'm sure 2nd edition is good, I'm just still deep in Pathfinder 1st Edition.

So just to be sure, is this a gorgon or a Medusa? Also, this was MCDM's Medusa, right?
Yes! It’s from Where Evil Lives! The Lady Emer lair
Interesting double down on (a)genuity. Cleverness I’m definitely (IN)genuity. But there is likely a reason you combined those.
