Wow, Jared. I send you fraternal greetings from Ghana Africa. I love you on a whole new level. Thanks So much for this. Keep up the good work. The reason for the upsurge of people trying to join the craft is the appointment of our former president as Grand Senior Warden of UGLE which made waves across the country. This gave the media the opportunity to educate the masses about who the Freemasons are as there are citizens who knew close to nothing about the fraternity. Under the grand lodge of Ghana there are two constitutions that operates, These are Scottish and Irish constitutions. Members of the fraternity here in Ghana usually choose to keep their identity a little discrete. Due to illiteracy on the general public about the activities of the fraternity. Any way, there has been recent attempts to educate the public and create awareness of the activities of the craft. There are at-least 3 masonic building in all ten regions of the country. Freemasonry in Ghana is very much alive just like anywhere in the world. Potential candidate will have to find a member to talk to or visit the local masonic lodge on a on Saturday as meetings are usually held on weekends. I greet you well.
I am so very grateful to have a Brother from Ghana comment on this. With the Internet being filled with terrible information on and about Freemasonry it was very difficult to piece together what might be going on. Thank you. The information about the UGLE Grand Senior Warden makes a lot of sense. Another Brother (Keith, see comments below) also educated me about a plethora of schemes by con-artists trying to "sign people as Freemasons" with the promise of making them rich and famous. It is a shame that seemingly so many people are finding those ill-doers and not the real Grand Lodge of Ghana website, or other true and helpful information. Hopefully my tiny contribution of this video will direct a few back to the correct place to go. Fraternally, Jared
It's a common misconception that Freemasons are wealthy and elite group of people in the country, Yes the activities of the Con-men in Ghana is really creating a headache. But measures are in place to help curb the issues. Like I said most citizens know nothing about freemasonry all they know is type of cars they see parked out side masonic lodges and that what make them think freemasonry is about wealth and riches. Hopefully with time people will get to understand what we really are about and what we do.
So today I tried a new webcam... and didn't realize the white balance was on "auto" - sorry about that. I think the focus as a hair better... but might go back to the other one. Who knows. I swear these webcams expect you to be inches from the camera to be in focus - it drives me crazy.
What is a Mason but I think your subs care more about your message than the video quality unless we want to make up conspiracies about what's in your background
Freemasonry in Ghana and West Africa overall is a very active subject on all of the Masonic forums I am part of. From what i have read in addition to UGLE lodges there are Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ireland and the Grand Lodge of Scotland. all of which are "Regular" and recognized. There was recently a post on a Masonic Facebook group I belong to that had a fantastic summary of Regular Feemasonry in West Africa. I will try to send you a link to it on email.
I imagine that for a man in Ghana it can be quite confusing. Perhaps because of there being a multitude of lodges under various charters is one reason there may be interest in forming their own constitution, etc.
Another outstanding topic and video brother. I learn something new every time. I did not realize that a book like the one you showed existed. Very useful for traveling.
The only thing I will be able to do is tell you to find a local lodge and contact them. I cannot help you join. However, my email is jandjacresms@gmail.com, if you wish to email me anyhow. Just search the Internet for "Grand Lodge of " and then the name of where you live, be it a country or state, and if there is one, or one nearby, it should come up.
Sir please am from Ghana, i follow you for years now, i want to be a member of the masonry in but is difficult here for me, i try the what you said but I've been paying money, and they said the final initiation i have to pay money before my final initiation what they asked me to pay i don't have the amount but i was able to pay half of the amount yet they refused to do my final initiation for me, please why should it be so, am a young guy try to make my dreams come true. Please i need your help please
I really wants to join. am from Ghana west Africa so I need help! my question is, do I have to owe my own business doing before entering or its the other way round? thank you!
I know of no jurisdiction which requires a man to have or hold any specific position, or to own anything, before or after becoming a Freemason. The only requirement I have heard is that you are expected to be able to meet the minimum needs for yourself and your family before you join - so you would have to have a source of income, but it need not be something as lavish as owning your own business.
What is a Mason so how do you deal with someone who wants to pursue a particular talent in him(me in particular) but have meet some requirements mentioned above? thank you!
This may be off topic, but do you have any knowledge of John G. Jones? And I know the general views of Prince Hall Freemasons in regards to him. But, what is the view of Freemasons outside of Prince Hall?
Brother, I am afraid I am not familiar with the name, so I cannot provide you with an opinion. What should I research to be sure I am reading about the same individual you are speaking of?
Apparently it isn't that hard to find information about who you are speaking of. Apparently he was accused and convicted by the PHGL of making masons without a warrant or charter to do so. If that account is accurate then it sounds like the PHGL did its job in dealing with the issue as best as they can. The accusations seem to extend passed this expulsion from the lodge, saying he kept making masons and setting up lodges. If that is true then it would seem clear that he had no authority to do so, making all lodges and masons he formed clandestine. That opinion comes from about 10 minutes of reading only 2 different records of the incidents, so I am prepared to adjust my opinion if what I read was incorrect.
I've been approached by people in Ghana wanting to join. Every time I tell them, our country (New Zealand) doesn't roll like others do. With that out in the open. Bro Jared - Could you do a video that involves Freemasons from around the world? Better yer, a video about Freemasons from "down under".
Well, the trouble is, I wouldn't know what is different between each country. I'm not even sure what you mean by New Zealand being different than others. Can you elaborate more, or give me some guidance? Sorry if I am being thick headed.
Because everybody has a different term for "The lodge they got their first 3 degrees in". Some say Symbolic, some say Blue, some want to specify Prince Hall , etc. Really it was just my way to say "whatever".
Ok. . when someone finds out I'm a MM and they are truly being inquisitive they always ask why so secretive. to this question I never have an answer because to me it's a strange question

Another outstanding topic and video brother. I learn something new every time. I did not realize that a book like the one you showed existed. Very useful for traveling.
Thank you! Frankly, I didn't know it existed until last year myself! It sure would be helpful if the information were available online.
Your very welcome. I agree with your statement about it being online.
Great video as always. On a side note I received my fellow craft degree this past Thursday.
Thank you! Congratulations on your second step! I am sure it was memorable. I think that degree is going to take a years worth of videos to explain.
What is a Mason Yes indeed. luckily our Deputy Grand Master home lodges here and my usual mentor is a ddgl, so I have excellent teachers.

You're free to pursue your own dreams and ambitions. Freemasonry won't tell you what talents of yours you can or cannot put into use.
