CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Bishop (Robert Redford) impersonates a private investigator in order to trick Elena (Lee Garlington) while getting radio feed from the group.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this tech-thriller from director Phil Alden Robinson, a group of five renegade computer hackers, led by Martin Bishop (Robert Redford), are hired by the government to steal a black box, containing a code-breaking machine, from the mathematician who invented the device. The government is able to persuade Martin to take the job by convincing him that they will drop a decades-old federal warrant for his involvement in computer fraud. Martin agrees and he takes his team on the mission, eventually taking the box. Shortly after the hackers have stolen the device, the mathematician turns up dead. Before long, the quintet realize that they've gotten themselves into more than they'd originally bargained for, as Bishop's old rival Cosmo (Ben Kingsley) enters into the fold. The eclectic ensemble also includes River Phoenix, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd, David Strathairn, Mary McDonnell, and James Earl Jones.

This movie has funny scenes you wouldnt expect a movie to have and it makes you laugh because it does. Its funny and good
What a cast and what a script. Redford's stumble over the desk in the opening scene was of course unscripted. Be a BEACON!!!!!!
One of those movies that I really wish could have gotten a sequel.

I love the camera work and absence of music here. Even though the acting is generic adlib comedy, this entire scene delivers.
Just caught an inside joke about this scene the other day in the movie, "Sum of All Fears."
The lady in this scene with Redford plays a CIA researcher in "Sum" and jokes about the Russian premiere having an affair with a lady named Elena Reishkoff (sp?) which also happens to be her character's name here in "Sneakers."
Boy, that was a long way to go for not much payoff...

This is what I call a great teamwork...

I remember watching this as a youngin and loving this movie, didn't understand the "give him head whenver he wants" part until a few years later lol. Whistler was a true MVP for that move lmao
Great scene. I noticed that the actress in this scene is also in 2 other films by the director - Phil Alden Robinson. She was the "Nazi Cow" lady who was at the PTA conference in Field of Dreams & she was also one of the CIA agents in Sum of All Fears.
I just recently met Lee. Very good actress :)
Very cool. Seems like a really funny lady.
She was also one of the villains in Cobra.

I cant believe this movie is still being watched. I walked in the Movie trading company store which has about 10,000 blu rays and there was only 1 sneakers. Its crazy that i thought i was the only one watching this movie p
According to an interview with the writers, it was totally scripted, and David Stratharin and Sidney Poitier actually read their lines to Redford off camera to support Redford's performance. Cool fact. 🙂
