      Well, I have to say thank you for keeping it real. You tell the truth, cut out the BS. Every time i fix one part of my swing, something else goes wrong. Then i fix that for a while, and something else goes wrong. Having someone like you to have 1 on 1 lessons from would be awesome. So, again, thanks for the truth.

      Wow Chris this is a amazing game changing tip, I have just lost a little edge off my game until this game changing tip from you, I play off 4hc and slowly going out the I employed this tip on Saturday comp and had 2 under and won the comp but more importantly lost point 7 off the hc, so thanks to you this is a permanent part of my pre shot routine,,, sorry for the long email, cheers Mark from Australia still watching your posts.

    Finally. I’ve been saying this for the last decade. I feel like I lost my shot at playing on a professional level after college because I was focusing on things instructors told me were important, not what is actually important. Very well said, brother.

      Golf instructors in general are the worst. At least all the famous, supposedly top instructors. All they can talk about is positions and theyve misguided an entire generation.

    This is spot on. Crazy to me how many beginners get hung up on so called fundamentals and achieving positions on the full swing instead of working on gaining feel and skill with the hands through repetition of short shots, punches, pitches, this drill, intuitive little hooks and cuts, etc. you have to have great hands!

    • @ChrisRyanGolf

    Nice one Chris. Thank you. Any learnt skills require practice, practice, and practice. What I find is practicing on a driving range with synthetic turf mats can be detrimental to your game. As you just can’t get that feel of ball then turf.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf 10 месяцев назад

      Very true, plenty you can do but it does get to the stage where it just isn’t the real thing and then only turf or the course will do

    THESE ARE THE FUNDAMENTAL. Grip it however you like, takeaway however you want, and as long as you consistently strike the ball well, everything else will come naturally - your own rhythm of swing. That's my take on this video.

    1. Solidness of strike fat/thin
    2. Clubface control/ shape control skills
    3. Develop speed
    4. Mental skills (one shot mindset/ course management)

      I like this. Bryson Dechambeau had a great drill in the sand trap. Draw a line, and try to hit just ahead of the line to consistently find low point. The sand provides great feedback. I guess you could get spray paint and spray a line on the grass and do the same thing if you dont have access to a trap

    My normal setup is like the first drill. My weight and hands are forward. I think that setting up closer to an impact position makes it easier to back to that position. Why do conventional teachers always teach the same setup position? Am I missing something?
    I fly my 7 iron 175 yards so I don't think it's a power issue.

      @@ChrisRyanGolfI think the low point is key. You can’t play decent if your low point is 3 inches behind the ball or varies from one shot to the next. Once you have this then clubface control is next. If you get these two right then you’ll be a pretty good golfer. Length is great if you really want to score.

    Great drills but so much of the swing at amateur level is hindered by physicality. Lack of hip flexibility, shoulder rotator etc leading to irregular strike points.

    All I know is I see golfers all the time walk up to their shots - take the " wrong stance " " aim in the " wrong direction " swing with a very imperfect swing - and POW ! -they are on the Green !!
    Obviously they do a lot of bad movements AND a lot of corrective actions as well !
    I simplify the game play 1/2 set 3W 5W 4H 6H
    8. PW and SW Putter !
    swing easy and enjoy - will never be a mid or low handicap golfer ! but having fun -different if I was young !

    Great video Truth is you dont need a Great golf swing to play great golf! i am proof!
    1You need Delusional Confidence! due to taking up golf late in life having watched it on TV i thought it was achievable to hole 15ftrs,chip in, get birdies etc
    2 You need to do golf related skill drills (1 in 200 have ever taken this advice) havent watched video yet but guessing thats what he says
    Every good golfer that ever lived learnt to bounce a ball on a wedge!
    3 become a good putter relates to point 1!
    4 dont have a round destroying bad shot,yes easy to say,i dont have a wild hook or slice just a bit of a straight duff point 2 helps you get away with it!
    my swing doesnt get worse under pressure again relates to point 2!
    5 Never Underclub! most o play with regularly underclub by at least 2!
    Delusional Confidence doesnt mean delude yourself! 210 is a good carry for me,i use 6 iron from 150 and i carry 3 hybrids! cos you getaway with slight fats and thins

    Disagree with this one Chris. You need proper fundamentals do all these movements you discuss. Golf is not s skill based sports that’s why no matter your athletic ability if you have the proper fundamentals you can play relatively decent golf. Misleading video

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf 10 месяцев назад +1

      I never expect everyone to agree with everything I say so issue at all, but interesting discussion.
      I believe golf is a skill based sport and the technique is the vehicle that helps is deploy those skills. Do agree that grip and stance etc are important, but in my experience giving someone a ‘perfect’ grip doesn’t guarantee improvement, but improving strike, ball control and distance would improve someone in almost all cases
      Never seen a great players who can’t strike it, hits it short and can’t control the curve, but seen plenty of incredible golfers with crack handed grips, poor posture, skewed alignment etc

      I think fundamentals are dynamic you can't just rest on great posture, grip and ball positions you need to be able to athletically adjust these on the fly. I love that Chris is challenging the status quo on this.

    • @xxthadeucexx
      @xxthadeucexx 9 месяцев назад

      You need a repeatable swing. Even if you don't strike the ball perfectly, as long as you know what the outcome will be, you can play good golf. Golf is only a skill based sport which is why you don't need to be athletic to play it. The only fundamental of golf is to know where the ball is going to go after you hit it. That's it. How you do it is up to you. If your stance, grip, swing path, etc were required to be a certain way, all pro swings would look the same. They don't.
