- Schrebergärten gelten als Inbegriff deutscher Spießigkeit. Seit Urban Gardening sind die grünen Parzellen aber auch bei Jüngeren ziemlich angesagt. Beim Besuch in der Kleingartenanlage hat Rachel Stewart das Klischee für “Meet the Germans“ auf den Prüfstand gestellt.
Seit 2016 lebt Rachel Stewart ständig in Deutschland und hat einen frischen Blick auf das Land und seine Bewohner.

Dear Rachel, I am the leader of a group of German learners at the U3A (Universitaet des dritten Lebensalters) in our town in New South Wales, Australia. I love your witty, pithy and quite caring and understanding takes on the German character. I am going to introduce them to my German class. However, I try to ban English during my class, as I believe it is a distraction. I want everyone to experience just for a short while every week what it would be like to learn German in Germany. I use he DW series "Nicos Weg" for this purpose, and appreciate the German subtitles, because it help scomprehension. I know it would add to the expense of making your videos, but could you do a version where all of the dialogue is in German, as well as including German subtitles? I know you speak excellent German!
Hello Thomas, sorry for the late reply! I'm really glad to hear the videos could be useful for your classes :) it would be awesome to do a German version as well, but I'm afraid there is simply no time... you wouldn't believe how long it takes to simply do two versions with English and German subtitles/graphics!
@@RachelStewart04 Dear Rachel, thank you for replying. I can imagine how busy you and your team must be. Our class love your videos. I think what really impresses us about them and the other wonderful material that DW produces is how close are our cultures. We all suffer the same frustrations and the same things make us laugh.
Perhaps in the future you could do a video on what Germans think and know about Australia. I know that it is a "Traumziel" for many Germans young and old, although many regard it is too far away. However, tens of thousands of Australians get on planes and visit Germany every year. Oh, and if you ever decide to visit, please let us know!

Die Satzung lässt viel Spielraum und man hat ja wenig Pachtkosten. Ein Kleingarten in Deutschland zuhaben heißt eher Freiheit, Natur, Glück. Man muss es aber auch verstehen wollen. Viele Freizeitgärten in England---- sind/wären in Deutschland satzungsgemäße Kleingärten. Es geht darum die niedrige Pacht begründen zu können. Schrebergärten haben eine Pflicht für den Gärtner in seinem Anbau und für den Zweck der Erholung der Gesamtbevölkerung. So war es, und so muss es auch immer bleiben.
Also wenn ich mir in den Städten so ansehe was für Fahnen/Flaggen dort wehen, stelle ich die Behauptung auf dass sie mit der Assoziation "Schrebergarten ist Deutsch" vollkommen falsch liegen.

Für jeden sogenannten Flüchtling und Immigranten oder was auch immer,einen Kleingarten.Im Kleingarten und sowie im Schützenverein,lernt wirklich jeder was Deutsch ist.Vor allem dann wenn die Jahreshauptsitzung stattfindet.

Deutsch sprechende Leute werden DEUTSCH untertitelt? Seröslich, DW? ( Oder ist das fürs taube Publikum gedacht?)
I am a German teacher, and I hope I wouldn't be regarded as a dummy, and I'm not deaf. The German subtitles help my students understand the people that Rachel interviews, who may not always speak slowly enough or with the clarity that beginners need. I think that DW does a great job in its quest to spread knowledge of Germany and the German language.
