Great idea; if you "secure" the two back ends (paperclip") you can set the tree upright and stick a candy cane in the top! Very cute! Grandkids love it!
I did this and it worked perfectly! Instead of the bows they made i just used the store bought ones you use on presents because I'm lazy and that was all i had and they worked great.
I just made 100 of these for a friends restaurant and realized as I was half way through, that the last piece at the bottom seems better if you tuck it under into a flap in the back.. It helps hold it together better. Also, Instead of a bow and a straight pin (so no one pinches themselves) I just place a piece of Christmas chocolate wrapped in colored foil. You can also use mini ornaments/snowflakes/gold star at the top. So many ideas. I actually just ordered some star shaped paper clips from oriental trading. It's also a great way to hold it together from the top and people can take home the paper clip. They come in red and yellow and are 1 1/2". Perfect size for the napkin tree...
Ive been buying the xtra large dark green paper napkins online or after holidays sales and I donate them to my local food bank who gives them to the shut-ins and poor people… I fold a few napkins to look like Christmas trees and top them with a little paper snow flake that I glue down using sticky corn or kero syrup as they might accidentally eat the paper snow flakes and is why I use kero syrup
