Decaying Antebellum Mansion | The William Tarr House

- The William Tarr House was originally built in the 1860's by A.J. Hitt, but William purchased it and did some major renovations around 1877. At the time it was a sprawling estate full of life. Sadly, today in 2022, it is a shell of itself. Pictures from even just a few years ago show it looking aged and abandoned, but what I saw exploring it was truly hard to look at. The earth is slowly reclaiming this once magnificent mansion.

It was sad to see such a once beautiful historic home be in such bad condition. I’ll be coming back in January with a drone when the weeds have died off and I’ll try to get some better exterior shots. Thanks for watching!
Would love to hear about the family that once lived in this house. It is sad to see homes like this just rotting away. You can tell this was once a beautiful home. This was nicely done. Hope you bring us back in January.
William Tarr was a very prominent business man in the central Kentucky region in the late 1800s. His main business was bourbon and whiskey distilling and distributing. He started and ran Ashland Whiskey and it was wildly successful. In the 1880s Tarr invested in railroads and suffered heavy losses that financial devastated his family. In 1898 he was in financial ruin and retired to this home where he lived until he died in 1911.
It’s a very sad story and a painful ending. This house is an accurate portrayal of how Williams life ended.
Thank you I will for sure be back for a follow up!
@@pioneer_productions Thanks for replying. Sad indeed.
Another great tour! So glad I found your channel. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I just randomly wrote my name into RUclips out of curiosity and this came up. Sweet 😂
This could be your great grandparents house! 😂
I just found your channel and subscribed ! I just love this explore. I picture it beautiful and full of life. It must have been exceptional. Mr Tarr worked hard for this and must have been wonderful to know. Thank you for this
Thank you Denise!
Cool place to explore! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Justin!
Hey Mark, love this kind of stuff! maybe it would be cool to include a voice over with some b roll of photos or you in your studio talking about the history of these locations
Absolutely! I’m very new to making this kind of content but have a lot of ideas on how to make things more engaging and entertaining. Thanks for that feedback David!
I thought I heard a response when you asked if anybody was home
What was that you noticed in the corner when editing? 🤔
Honestly I have no clue! I can’t tell if they’re opossums or some weird birds
Did you notice that is a player piano 🎹 that played paper rolls to activate the keys. So sad to see the house in this condition.
You’re right! I didn’t notice that until you pointed that out. The house is in horrible condition. I’m afraid it won’t be standing at all much longer
Someone must be paying the taxes on it. Wonder why it wasn't sold before it was ruined.
It’s on a large farm so I would guess the owner of the farm just neglects it and doesn’t care about it
