@@brittianyistre I watch science nerd stuff mostly and it is always good to learn. I don’t think it is pointless if it is serving a purpose; even if that purpose is entertainment. I am not sure if anything is pointless (IMO). Maybe just not the point that we want. 😁
Of course that burnout isn't considered a problem in the USA... labour rights and worker wellbeing hasn't been a high priority there... which is actually kinda funny, because even if you have a hypercapitalist perspective on this, happy and healthy workers who are being paid enough are way more productive in what they do...
Most mental illnesses really are that though. You don‘t get sent to therapy to be better. You get there to conform back to your little wage slave cage without your body betraying you cause the system is killing you. The issue with mental health today isn‘t us all getting mentally ill for no reason. It‘s cause the life we‘re forced into is killing us slowly and our bodies doesn‘t like that so it rebels if you don‘t.
watching the original videos helped me make more sense of my productivity,. i need like 2 weeks of doing nothing and then I'll do six weeks worth of work in a weekend. it's like at a certain point it's more about just being patient with yourself on a regular basis
Sounds reasonable. So long as we respect our limits. Like finding a custom flow rate. Also tho, sounds like you’re in the adhd club with a lot of us lol
I don't think that is good for you. Sure you will save some time. I've been trying to eat in silence this year, and it was really hard changing this habit! But I feel I'm enjoying the food more and appreciating it. Also, when I watch the video on it's own, without multitasking, I think I don't skip anything and remember more.
I desperately need a video titled "One simple, but 100% foolproof way of overcoming feeling unable to complete a task and overcoming your procrastination."
@@SpiceCh I dunno if it would work for you but I use my reward system to my advantage. I treat myself with something I love but *only* if I make at least *some* progress on any given goal

Yeah same, also read research that shows multitasking is actually counterproductive because it’s cognitively not possible for most humans. Only savant types can multitask and not see a huge decline in the quality of work 🫤
Staff burnout is a common cause of good employees quitting jobs they actually cared about. Why does it happen? Because companies get too comfy with some employees doing most of the work and letting the slackers get away with it. That kind of workload and lack of appreciation can take a toll on your mental health. We know exactly what and why it happens. We just pretend to not so we can make excuses about not making sure people have living wages and job security. Those same companies are the ones that have you come in sick, by the way, for fear of losing your job.
Thanks for the video. I have always failed to fulfil my full potential due to stress and burnouts. This video helped my know myself a lot better. Thanks
I had a friend point out that I sigh a lot. I was never doing it out of boredom, or at least most of the time I wasn't bored. I was just sighing involuntarily.
I mean, I think with creative pursuits, the point is kind of that individuals march to the beat of their own drum, so it's not much wonder that there is less inclination to either compete or have external comparison; the things are not similar enough.
Great video, but I wonder if this is a good video to use for taking a break. At least if the work is mentally demanding or if it is a lecture, since this video gives some information to process. You mention how breaks help us remember newly obtained information better. So, if I had just learned something new before taking a break by watching this video, would it not make it less likely for the previously obtained knowledge to be properly stored in my brain? I´m asking because from what I´ve tried, some types of break-activities are better than others (some break-activities does not feel like they give any of the benefits a break should give). Like using my phone, playing a demanding game, watching/reading something with a fair/lot of information to process, do not unwind me the same way like: eating a quiet meal, watching/enjoying my surroundings, exercising, talking with friends/co-workers or just doing some meditation/mindfulness.

Behavioral Addictions used to be labeled compulsions and I hate how they have decided to change it to addiction in DSM V because they want to put behaviors not approved by old asshats as an addiction. Let's be honest, addiction has a bigger negative connotation than a compulsion. It wasn't a good scientific labeling change, it was a political one.
I mean I would argue that its not an addiction but rather a feeling of nakedness when I don't have my phone. it feels like a part of me is missing. aswell as like I've forgotten something. it's an extension of myself. if someone stole my bike they stole an object. like if they stole my wallet if they stole my phone they broke into my house. they invaded my safe space. it's because phones are so personal. I'd also argue that its the social media or games that are addictive. not the phone itself. although having it means i have that addiction and without its withdrawal plus nakedness. so its a double whammy.
i used to feel addicted to my phone but then i got banned from reddit lol and that was my last social media platform that i actually used. now my only connection to the outside world is youtube and 4chan. the only way i knew about that recent school shooting was 4chan, but most of my political and scientific news comes from youtube, all my journalism and that comes from youtubers who watch everything and then condense and summarize it into videos that i can watch at 2-3x speed.
