  • @Rhaenarys
    @Rhaenarys 2 года назад +3

    Staff burnout is a common cause of good employees quitting jobs they actually cared about. Why does it happen? Because companies get too comfy with some employees doing most of the work and letting the slackers get away with it. That kind of workload and lack of appreciation can take a toll on your mental health. We know exactly what and why it happens. We just pretend to not so we can make excuses about not making sure people have living wages and job security. Those same companies are the ones that have you come in sick, by the way, for fear of losing your job.

    Great video, but I wonder if this is a good video to use for taking a break. At least if the work is mentally demanding or if it is a lecture, since this video gives some information to process. You mention how breaks help us remember newly obtained information better. So, if I had just learned something new before taking a break by watching this video, would it not make it less likely for the previously obtained knowledge to be properly stored in my brain? I´m asking because from what I´ve tried, some types of break-activities are better than others (some break-activities does not feel like they give any of the benefits a break should give). Like using my phone, playing a demanding game, watching/reading something with a fair/lot of information to process, do not unwind me the same way like: eating a quiet meal, watching/enjoying my surroundings, exercising, talking with friends/co-workers or just doing some meditation/mindfulness.

    I mean I would argue that its not an addiction but rather a feeling of nakedness when I don't have my phone. it feels like a part of me is missing. aswell as like I've forgotten something. it's an extension of myself. if someone stole my bike they stole an object. like if they stole my wallet if they stole my phone they broke into my house. they invaded my safe space. it's because phones are so personal. I'd also argue that its the social media or games that are addictive. not the phone itself. although having it means i have that addiction and without its withdrawal plus nakedness. so its a double whammy.
