    I started with a diesel walker 24 years ago outstanding fuel economy they are fantastic on hills I have 3 presently and a toro Z master. Walkers require more maintenance but they are fantastic with out front deck I can do less weedeating and superior on hills. They are very expensive now, if you have large flat properties toro better.

    Very interesting info.
    I do handywork around the village and one of my customers wants me to use their old Walker. At least it looks old and badly maintained. I said that i will not touch it until it had a service by an authorised mechanic. Don't want to be responsible for any trouble, and watching this, there can be lots.
    Thanks for making this available.

    Thanks for the demo.
    I get to repair / Maintain my sons equipment. This old machine is new for me, so your video is helpful. My old MS is difficult to change oil on. The maintenance has Ben let go for quite some time.

    Great video!
    Just an aircraft mechanic and first-time homeowner here.
    Just recently (like, within the last week) got interested in lawnmowers when I realized I was going to have to get a mower for my 1-acre property I just bought.
    I ended up buying a Gravely ZTXL 42” primarily because it was the least-expensive option that I found to include serviceable transaxles (ZT-2800).
    But over the years I’d known some guys who did landscaping here in Tennessee and ran Walker mowers. Didn’t know much about them so I did a search and found your channel.
    I have to say you did an excellent job explaining the ins and outs, and, being in maintenance, I especially enjoyed your thorough and professional explanation of common failure points on the lawnmowers.
    I’ll watch more of your videos just to learn!
    Great job, and best of luck!

      If you arent picking up the grass id say run a hustler. They seem to be built better, less and easier maintenance. I been running walkers 20 years, HD hustler for 10 for wide open areas and working on mowers for 20. My oldest walker is older than this kid

    I've run the walkers since 2007. The company I worked for always gave me old mowers to run. I've had little trouble with them. The last year I worked at that company I had a newer machine. We also ran the walker b, and the walker H models they all run pretty much the same. They are great on hillsides easy maintenance. The H models are built for mowing large fields. I've helped replaced the motor and blower fan. Dog toys are hard on the blower fan. We changed the oil two or three times a season. Walker mowers are the best and toughest.

    I have 2017 Walker D21, equipped with high lift dump: fantastic mower but a love/hate relationship, lol. Only 440 hrs on it, but high maintenance . Had small lawn business until 2021; still keep the D21 around for the fall leaves. Considered trading it off but just priced it as equipped @ 31,000+ UNBELIEVABLE !! Glad I am retired 😉

    I have a walker also but my problem is the 52 inch deck rotates opposite of what yours does and plugs up often . When i had the 42 inch deck that rotates the same as yours it seldom plugged. Thinking of getting a different deck. Still like Walker mowers

    2020 walker T27i 723hrs. Love it and keep one on every trailer. Wouldn’t want to mow without one. Fall and spring and wet grass are no match. Flower beds are a breeze. Just bought another one. Keep standers for the open field properties but the walkers for residential cul de sacs etc..

    My last exmark was a 72” with a diesel. It was probably 12 years old with 1700 hours on it and I only paid $4k for it. I used it for 10 years as my only mower mowing some really large properties. Never replaced a wheel motor or a hydro. Really didn’t do much of anything to it. Proof that a used mower will do the same thing as a new one minus a payment. Not much profit in mowing and no way people make money by buying a different mower every 2 years. I use my trimmers, etc for 10 years also.

    Great mowers weve been using them since 2000
    25 had 12,000hrs
    26 had 11,000hrs
    2 diesels over 5000hrs
    Take care of them and they last

    those eaton hydros on average 2000 hours. The kohler command engines 1200 to 1500 hours. depends. you use it 1 hour a day or 8 hours almost non stop a day. theyll last for more hours if only using for 1 yard a day vs 25 a day. oil, and oil and air filter every 50 hours and fuel filter once a year

    I’m running a dam Gravley 52 inch pro .. lol I’m 2 seasons in. So don’t judge me lol .. customers are building up quick ! I need something better I was telling my self .. specially Fall time !!!
    I’m very interested in these mowers . I don’t know enough about them yet so that’s why I’m watching videos about them ..
    What scares me a little is the sticks ! lol. Now are talking about little sticks like 3/8 to 1/2 or are you talking about big sticks! lol 1 inch + ???
    I have a few yards that aren’t the best lol so I’m a little concerned..
    Next question , is the deck adjustable on the Fly ??? That’s is major for me .. thanks for your time

    Do the vents plug up on the deck? I have the navigator and it is not vented so I did it myself and it picks up a little better but they plug up.
    You’re right the navigator is heavier but it’s built a lot better. You get less things breaking on them but they don’t do hills good. I’ll probably go with Walker next I already own a b23i and it’s fantastic on hills but the deck is very flimsy vs my John Deeres they are indestructible. But they slide so bad on hills and tear up ground. Hard to get all your squirrels up the same tree.

    • @ziggybrothers
      @ziggybrothers  Год назад

      They do in wet grass . Just like other mowers . Like I said in the video I had the toro direct collect . For me it was a nightmare with the belts for the blower fan. Did you have any trouble ? It went through warranty 3 separate times for the belts not properly aligned .

    • @tonyisaac4578
      @tonyisaac4578 Год назад

      No but I do go through a few more belts than the original ones it seems like, but that’s all my mowers. No belts lasts as long as the ones they put on at the factory. I’ve replaced one starter, one battery, belts a couple times, I’m remembering now part of that trouble was because an idler on the pump(s) belt got misaligned and since those belts run so close it was getting into the blower/deck belts. Outside of that, nothing has gone wrong with the mower. Has 1500 hrs on it and is 6 years old almost. Gearboxes do not leak a drop.
      My take on both mowers is this. The exmark and Toros are better built, stronger machines. They will last and last as far as structural. They are heavier and clumsier and they do not have the options and accessories that Walker does. Walkers are more nimble and agile, threy have things “down to a science” better. They have more options and you can buy every single part down to nuts and bolts and keep them running from now on out. My uncle has a Walker with 10,000 hrs on it but he’s replaced everything on it. They are flimsier and more prone to break because they do build them light. But that’s why they maneuver so good. You can’t get all the good without taking some bad. I think I will switch to Walker for my bagger mower because this exmark tears up too much ground. But it’s still going to be a tough switch because the Exmark has treated me so well.

    You guys ever deal with them randomly pulling off line? We have 11 walkers and they almost always end up doing the same thing. Random pulls in either direction. I’ve had one get so bad it would turn ina full circle in it was so far off line, but it’s weird because it’s not constant. It will do that and then ten minutes later drive straight again

    • @ziggybrothers
      @ziggybrothers  2 года назад +1

      That is the linkages for the hydros. It goes from each Hydro down a linkage to the lever that you use with your hand to turn the machine. They are out of adjustment and/or The linkages may be loose or sloppy and may get bound up and stuck. Or could be as simple as making sure the hydraulic oil level is full. But I could put my money on that it has to do with the linkage being out of adjustment.

      It's simply the springs that conect to the hydrostatic, on the old models they are underneath and the new ones on the sides under the seat on each side they need a good cleaning after fall and spring cleanups, power wash degrees , WD40 .etc.
