      Yeah, I like the diagonal grouping tech as well. Probably a lot more effective against moving targets than the full vertical anyways.

      @@MythicFox it's useful to make your shots consistent in some ways but sometimes i think the vertical is good though higher skill because it has a faster ttk esp if you're accurate enough so multiple shots land on them instead of exploding, i use it vs back/midliners taking cover and standing relatively still for example

    I might personally like having a point sensor slightly more than an autobomb in a lot of solo queue situations (let's you effectively make a callout without voice increasing chances of combos). That's still not enough to justify a kit that combines point sensor and wave breaker. Wave would need a massive buff that makes it likely to actually do damage.
    When it comes to other map modes I'd say wellstring can be good on some tower maps, mostly ones where it can fairly reliably get high ground over the tower. A single partial charge is often enough to clear the tower or the tower's base.

    At first I didn’t enjoy the wellspring because of the range and kits and I was more use to maining Tri-stringer however after spending a lot of time in the training lobby I was able to get a better grasp on how to use the arrows and recognize its range distance. So now I feel more confident using this weapon and had some good matches with it. I agree this weapon depends heavily on a good comp I learned this from doing a lot of solo. I also love the Custom Wellspring V because I want to know where the enemy team is I also run Thermal ink since it has five arrows I have a much higher chance of hitting my enemy and knowing where they are.

    With the arrow grouping tech generally the close the reticle is the being vertical without actually being vertical the closer the bolts will cluster. I would wait until the reticle is at least past halfway to being vertical before firing if you are going for a cluster.

    I get the impression that backlines don't flex to stringers. Not because they are inferior, but because they are a bit technical to pick up and play.

    • @HyperLuigi37
      @HyperLuigi37 21 день назад +4

      Honestly, I feel like all backlines except Jet (and lol) are some level of technical. Wellstring is more than usual for sure, but snipers in this day and age are quite technical to actually get picks imo. Not to mention the way splatlings work

    • @voguefurret
      @voguefurret 21 день назад +1

      Ontop of being technical they can also be niche, What advantage you have to gain depends on map and mode.
      Even when it's theoreticly strong another Anchor weapon still has the potential to outplay so time spent learning Stringer might've been more useful on your primary weapon.

    • @Mioumi
      @Mioumi 21 день назад +2

      Splatlings and chargers have good intrusive paint. Tri-stringer tends to paint much more less from afar, especially if you're too focused on far targets instead of the ones next to your teammates _-like i do cough cough-_ It has some kind of different pressure. Though its recent buff does definitely help the weapon feel better ^^

  • @amberzephyr
    @amberzephyr 21 день назад

    i commend you for taking a second look at the weapon and inviting someone who's tried the weapon out more. it's interesting to hear a different opinion on wellstringer, although i kind of see a tri-stringer bias (i'm all aboard the wellstring train). i think how this weapon's meta will progress is how good people get with the long range vertical shots. if you can break a backliner's line of sight you can p much insta kill them with an accurate long vertical shot (edit: also shreds crab/bubbles/splash walls/brellas (specifically tenta) which makes it a possible counter meta) i think it can fit within a stronger backliner role than erito is suggesting, although it is strong mid range. but i think backliner positions are overall worse because of the lower range; like i'd rather be at elbow/wing/mid/bunker than window on humpback if i want to actually pressure people more.
    edit: was mistaken but learned something new just skip this section i didn't test enough cases lol
    just to clarify because i think this info is incorrect in the video, i'm pretty sure it only takes 2 half charges to pop RM bubble (in isolation; perhaps they meant in a real round start, but no autobomb needed); and the damage does not change past a half charge. it takes 2 half charges or 2 full charges to pop RM bubble. 1 half charge or 1 full charge + 2 tap shots work too. i reconfirmed it in recon.
    i think that it is nearly as strong on TC as it is on RM too, especially with the vertical shots. you can essentially clear tower of people which is dead easy to do at checkpoints and takes some finesse otherwise, since the tower riders cannot use the pole as cover. i think it's just good on SZ, like an explo with more tricks; and some maps like lemuria let you neutralize/cap your zone with a single horizontal from the high ground. CB, uh it's fine, it likes swim speed and its fast half charges can splat people stopping your approach, might be slightly better than most other backliners/midliners in that respect.
    i vibe with it, i think it's better as a main than tri-stringer and reeflux although each weapon has its niche. the fact that it can threaten objective without specials so well in RM and TC makes it at least high tier in those modes imo. it's def comp viable, but held back a little by its kits because of how special dependent this game can be (which is why it's strong, since it can work in spite of that).
    personally i run a run speed build on wellstring for the same reason i run it on z+f; the fully charged strafe speed may be atrocious, but it does not get to that speed immediately. so you get a bigger burst of speed due to the initial speed, and i find this helpful in repositioning myself even if the majority of the speed is lost after the half charge. i don't run stealth jump because i see it as a weapon that can backline by aoe pressuring people and getting occasional picks with verticals and can midline pressure/slay/stave off frontliners with its competent half charges and tap shots. so it's ok for me to respawn and swim back to a backliner position if i can't jump. it also scales well with swim speed like e-liter so i run a main and a sub, makes movement better overall (and synergizes better with RM or CB). edit: i also run a sub of special power up but that's partly because i ran out of swim chunks. it is nice to have an extra 0.5 seconds to reposition in case i wanna swim and throw the hammer somewhere else though

    • @raphaellaalexander8853
      @raphaellaalexander8853 21 день назад +1

      Unlike the other stringers, this weapon actually only starts ramping up the damage at the half-way mark, so a full charge does do more damage than a half charge, in fact from my testing, even without OS, a full charge + an autobomb will break the rm shield, whereas a half charge + an autobomb needs another tap shot to break the shield, and I'm assuming Erito was referring to a point somewhere in between a half and full charge that barely hits enough damage to break the shield with an autobomb, especially if you're running OS

      @SquidSchool  21 день назад +7

      That's not what they said; it's in the middle of the weapons that are considered viable competitively, so, usually the upper ~1/3 to 1/4 of weapons in the game. The middle of that isn't "painfully mid."

    I really need people to stop saying "hammer is inconsistent." It's been fixed since its major patch several seasons ago. I legitimately think no one knows how to play the special.

    • @CreationsFlare
      @CreationsFlare 21 день назад +5

      The fact that Hammer has counterplay means that it will be inconsistent by design. It's not that Hammer isn't capable of being a huge play maker, but you can get hit and just die for pressing the special.

    • @jamieohjamie
      @jamieohjamie 21 день назад +1

      @@CreationsFlare A lot of specials have counterplay "by design." The only one sus is the very first Zooka shot. A special like Kraken has the loudest sound in the game... a special like Bubble or Wave can get shot out of existence. Strikes telegraph their AOE before exploding (and the user can also get shot before throwing all 3... as well as the person firing Zooka). Hammer is 100% consistent, but YOU control what it does.

    • @Pearl_Blossom
      @Pearl_Blossom 21 день назад

      @@CreationsFlare I get what you're trying to say but every special has counterplay. Stamp just has way too many horrendous matchups with main weapons that completely shut it down and not enough use cases to make up for it

    • @Pearl_Blossom
      @Pearl_Blossom 21 день назад

      I know from experience that they did not fix the bugs entirely, and that's not what they mean anyway. The rush attack gets effortlessly shot through by several extremely common weapons, and the throw isn't bad but it's kind of just a worse Trizooka. It's never a guarantee that you'll ever get value out of Ultra Stamp unless you're exclusively using it for its top tier object damage when its many many counters aren't nearby. Its functionality is somewhat consistent, but getting value from it at a competitive level absolutely is not consistent

    • @CreationsFlare
      @CreationsFlare 21 день назад

      @@jamieohjamie I mean, Crab didn't on release and they had to patch it in several months later. Kraken cheese made Clam on a competitive level kind of a joke until they bandaid patched it, and Wave has been historically weak since either it simply doesn't effect much of the other specials AND can die extremely fast. While specials vs specials are a type of counterplay, that isn't nearly the same issue that Hammer has.
      Hammer's natural weakness is strafing, and that will always by design be incredibly weak when the pace of the game is already fast before Cooler meta. Main weapons matter a lot currently and the fact that you are slower than most weapons AND they can 50/50 through your rush mode never feels great. Upon realizing Decav's kill swipe has better coverage than Stamp's jump swipe, I don't think it's ever gonna feel like a solid tool other than picking a vulnerable enemy out and then ditching it.
