I saw a teenage girl standing in front of her former home, regular middle class girl crying her heart out because thatys the ONLY home she's ever lived in. Broke my heart, I really wish people stop lying acting like the rich are the only ones losing. The difference is the middle class and the poor are losing EVERYTHING!!
It’s devastating for everyone who have lost their homes. The difference is the wealthy can afford their insurance premiums and can afford to rebuild, whilst the middle class and poor may not be able to do this. I was lucky that after losing my home in Australia to bushfires 42 years ago I could rebuild.
Just because people may be rich, doesn't mean that they don't feel the loss of EVERYTHING..homes they built and have lived in for decades; photos and momentos, family memories and heirlooms. Not everything is replaceable. Let's have enough compassion for all of the victims.
I was born, bred and raised in Los Angeles. And since the day I was born (1964) you were guaranteed 4 things. 1) Earthquakes 2) Fires 3) Mudslides & 4) Drought. I'm just so tired of all the political bullsht about the fires. I feel so helpless right now, my entire family and my daughter and grand babies are still in Los Angeles. I've been on my phone daily since this started. I just wish they would just stop.
California does have a large share of natural disasters. That's the reason I wouldn't want to live there. Of course Texas has Tornados, Hurricanes, Flood and no power.

He's not a "Fox host". He's just a reporter on a Fox AFFILIATE. ("Affiliate" just means it's a local station that syndicates some subset of Fox's cable content, but can still just be an independently owned station with no relation to Fox, other than a contractual syndication agreement, and the right to use "Fox" in its name for promotional purposes.)
The problem is that it seems to be “America First, but only if you voted for me.” Proud Texan here, sad for what is happening in my country, state, etc…

I appreciate that. Living in WNY I know your fires were bad. We had smoke for more than 6 months that was bad. I can’t even imagine what you went through!
James Woods has been actively spreading lies and bullshit over twitter, but he lied about his house burning down too. The thing is, firefighters don't care who you voted for or whatever, they will help you no matter what.
Elex Michaelson should be loudly commended for fair news reporting! Congrats Elex…. I’m in Westchester California and am watching this from my backyard. It’s frightening and devastating…. I’ll be making a donation to the Red Cross per his suggestion and hope our community will respond with empathy and kindness.
Thank you Brian for having Alex, It's so pleasant to hear and see 2 normal people having a discussion. I'm so sorry for the people who have lost their homes, friends and family. Many Canadians live there and we've been hearing from them, some have lost their homes, some are opening there homes and helping others. I would also like to thank all the firefighter of LA, MEXICO, PRISON & CANADA! What a commitment to the people of LA and beyond. Although this is horrendous disaster, it's warming to see people working together for the good of these people in their time of unbelievable need.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you all
It's a local station for the main national network, not the cable network. The local stations and basic FOX network has never been as bad as the FOX News cable network with how they cover the news, especially in regards to local events.
It would be hard to leave your conscience at the door for the Murdoch's love of money and hatred to this country. But most of them just chatter on when it would make most of us vomit to lie so much. A crapy job is hardly worth selling your soul to the devil unless you worship money and care nothing about the people in America.
Fox 11 in LA is kind of the outlier for Fox. Growing up in LA and hearing thing about Fox news confused me. I didn't understand until I left CA. It's the same in Chicago but with WGN.
My heart is so deeply saddened by all the devastation and trauma being faced by so many people😢 Our Province of BC went through this 2 years ago and we get daily reminders in our communities as we drive through burnt out forests and previous neighborhoods! As a Native American we understand the sacredness of mother Earth's resources and one of those resources is water. Please join us in offering a prayer of gratitude to our water. Whatever water you are using today, Please take a moment and offer a prayer of grattitude love and appreciation. We need rain in California. United we stand, love wins! Thank you!
Mni Wiconi! I have been gifting Water Protectors The Drop Of Water, to thank them for protecting our waters! Thank you for what you do for our water! I'd love to gift you as well!
You don't need rain. You need to have spent the last couple of decades working on desalination. Millions of people living beside the Pacific Ocean screaming "we don't have any water!" It's farcical.
Let's not forget all the people who lost their jobs because of the fires. They may live in an area where they still have a house or apartment, but now, no income.
Internationally accepted amount of time President -elect Trump will spend thinking about the lives of the California fire victims = 0000000.1 milliseconds.
There should be an academy hero awards ceremony for these pilots instead of people who say words written by somebody else in front of a camera (also operated by somebody else). Maybe we should start recognizing heroic bravery life saving talent versus fake drama makebelieve talent with 5 takes to get it right.
Without question this interview encapsulates the gold standard of prudenant, sane, balanced, wholesome and humane commentary regarding this cataclysmic event. Well spoken and very informative Gentlemen. Due to the winds and fierce nature of a drought hit area with majority of buildings made of wood , embers are blowing in each point of the compass. I am sure this is so devastating. Poor AND rich can suffer in these events. Memories cannot be replaced, lives cannot be replaced. My heart goes out to you guys! I am nowhere near there but thank you for great reporting.
Two things, first I am a native Californian and have been around for 68 years now. During that time I have seen, witnessed, and fought brush fires in So. Cal. When I was in high school from ‘70-‘74, I took science classes. The last was oceanography. Our teacher warned us about a growing trend called “global climate change”. He also had copies of reports as far back as the early 1800’s of “cataclysmic” climate change being predicted and that those changes would destroy all life on earth, destroy the earth, either the planet would be covered in ice or become a planet like mars, etc.. Every year, usually between late October through March, we get to experience Santa Ana winds. When I lived in Ontario from ‘72-‘78, the winds would howl through southeast Ontario sometimes (gusts) at over 100 miles per hour and sustained winds of 35 mph. “Climate change” has nothing to do with it, it’s been happening here for hundreds of years. Second, I have noticed that every time So. Cal. suffers through these winds, the media starts reporting about the lower humidity and the winds and the heightened fire danger. I understand why this is done but I have also noticed that every time these warnings go out, the fires begin. On Dec. 2nd, 1990, I was a working at a federal facility near Pasadena. During the early evening, I was dispatched to a fence alarm on east perimeter of the facility. I noticed a male subject walking on the outside of the fence line and holding onto the fence to keep from falling into the dry riverbed. He then lowered himself into the 5ft. tall weeds and started walking in a circle then took out a book of matches, struck one match then lit the whole book. It was at this time that my supervisor and I yelled at him to stop what he was doing and stand still. He complied and we were able to detain him for local L.E.. We later found out that he was a “walk away” from a mental facility for criminals. He was a serial arsonist and had heard about the heightened fire danger, walked out of the facility (staff paying attention?), walked east toward the riverbed and was going to set the area of Altadena and La Canada on fire. It doesn’t take a “rocket scientist “ to figure out that there a plethora of these folks just waiting to hear about the wind or fire danger to kickstart their nefarious activities. Just an observation that I felt compelled to share. Just my opinion.
thank you - so sick of hearing this being used to promote climate change agenda which is all fake! a fire needs a spark right.... usually humans provide that spark.
Been living in SoCal for 71 yrs. Newsom has NEVER cleaned up the forest underbrush. Mayor Bass CUT the fire budget by $18 million. Water Chief Quinones had an empty reservoir and broken hydrants. TOTALLY INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP. ALL NEED TO RESIGN NOW

Yea. We sent money to y’all. While in actual dollars we make more and live in more expensive houses, but everything is relative. I cannot afford to buy my house now. It’s worth nearly $1million. Hey...Los Angeles is getting wiped out/has been wiped out in many large areas and Western North Carolina has been wiped out. It is time to set politics aside and everybody just get along and do what we can to stop further destruction and loss of live (Fires endangering lives and shelter in LA-WNC freezing temps with little or no shelter-and clearly some roads knocked out for a lengthy period) and begin to rebuild. This is meant for those that want to argue over relief the gov. has given to the two different areas.
Good information. Local journalists with community ties are the most invested in accurate reporting. Thank you for providing good, reliable information.
It doesn’t matter how the fire started, it matters whether CA was prepared for it or not. They were NOT, in spite of a ridiculous amount of federal funds being thrown their way for years. You don’t even know where the money went. Perhaps to Gavin’s new $9.2M home that he didn’t even have to sell his house to buy? YOU are the reason the ridiculous continues.
Dry fire hydrants is fine! Houses burned down, people died because of incompetence but don't you dare point out democrat politicians and the inability to plan and save people lives with efficient evacuation routes. People demand answers.
Understand high wind,no water in some reservoirs,no fire breaks,n clearing of dead brush,,no preposition fire trucks or water tankers in key areas budget cuts to fire fighter mechanics trucks sitting in parking lot.not using ocean water, not building additional fire tankers water towers in key areas,no pre-check on all fire hydrants & pre-check on water tanker levels, power lines not being underground in key canyon high risk areas, knowing high winds were coming to California before the fires, this wasn’t climate change it was the lack of readiness and incompetence at all government agencies!!!FACTS!!

Local Fox stations have competent weather reporting all around the country, based on what I've seen via RUclips. Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Seattle, all over. Their national political polling was accurate, though they took a lot of heat in 2020 for correctly calling Arizona for Biden. Besides those two topics there's no point in clicking.
From Canada, Our family is sending wishes of relief from this crisis for all affected. Being your upstairs neighbour in BC's southern interior, we have first-hand experience of the terror and toll these massive wildfires impose on people and entire communities. I have a level of summer wildfire season anxiety now that I don't think will ever leave me. I don't have a lot of expendable income, but I was able to send some cash to the Canadian Red Cross. The best way through crises like this is with kindness, compassion, and mutual aid. Every little bit helps
Santa Barbara resident here. Last night, I sat eating dinner at a local restaurant/bar talking to two couples that evacuated here, both losing their homes. One couple is here trying to find a memory care unit(s) that have availability for 72 memory care patients that lost their home in the fire. My point is the scope of loss is unfathomable.
thank you , we need more of you! I cringe every time public speakers lie, but the worst is when it’s our President or President elect does it. The only hope is that local, independent broadcasters, like these continue to be relevant.
I live in Burbank. Behind my local Home Depot there is a long line of telephone poles snapped like twigs. These winds were off the charts. Nothing could’ve stopped that fire once started.
Yeah, there's a real problem with the way the city budget's government services, the police budget has become so bloated that it takes away money from all the other services the city needs to pay for. Even if the LAFD had the $17 million cut from this year's budget these fires still would have happened, the FD would have needed a larger budget for years in advance of this to prevent these fires from getting so out of control. With more money the FD could have done more to clear brush and maybe build more water storage for use in an emergency such as this (plus all the extra equipment and personal too, of course).
The LA Fire chief disagrees with you. The point is the fire department should have been allowed to do everything they could have. Hard to do with empty fire hydrants. Ive heard people saving their neighbor's homes with gardening hoses.
So refreshing to listen to a great, educated news anchor who works for Fox! So why have we not seen/or heard how survivors are doing. Nothing on how are these people are getting or provided shelter. Are powers at be keeping news about that out of reach
Excellent interview. Factual & to the point, from a local perspective. Thank you for providing a more complete, unbiased picture of the situation from a real journalist at a time when action , not editorializing, is required.
The water pressure dropped for a variety of reasons. One, is that the electric company turned off power to the area so that power lines wouldn't spark more fires. However, that turned off the power to the pumps that keep the water pressure up. Second, there is no fire fighting system in the world designed to fight 1000 house fires at the same time. It's not designed to have all the fire hydrants going at once. Or even most of them. Plus, all the water lines in houses that probably broke and were leaking, draining water pressure there too. Plus, in some areas, water is supplied by water tanks. Sure, they may hold a million gallons, but how fast does that go away when a major fire is being fought? Once they're drained, they have to be pumped full again. That takes a while.
Meanwhile MSNBC,CNN,ABC,NBC, and all the other Liberal media stations lied to everyone for years about the border and then they were forced to report the truth and the whole time Fox was reporting on the problems. Liberal media are the masters at lying people.
with winds as high as a huge leaf blower? yeah quite far. Good thing they land on dry grass and sticks. ...... oh, wait. oops Must be a freak thing like once in a hundred years? No? oh. Well, why didn't someone warn them? oh wait.
Also Fire hydrants are not designed to supply enough water to fight large or simultaneous wildfires... a shame some Politicians are playing their blame game instead of helping

I'm from Studio City, California. I was born in 1964. I experienced so many wildfires in my 60 years in Southern California. The Santa Anna winds were always our biggest worry. Not just because of wildfires, but tress falling. We have giant eucalyptus trees in our front yard. Several times the branches broke and destroyed our cars, roof, etc. The winds are hot, too! Hot, dry and powerful. How this is being politicized is fucking despicable and infuriating! Sending love and respect for our first responders, firefighters, Canada and Mexico! The people of Los Angeles are resilient and strong. We will get through this together. As we always have in past disasters. The Republicans voted against disaster relief in our last bill passed through the House.
Empty reservoirs 100 Million slashed from Fire Budget 17 Million slashed form LA Fire DEI taking center stage And some idiot lesbian firefighter has the gall to tell someone that if their husband is stuck in a burning building it is HIS fault he's there. Republicans voted against wasting money that FEMA was spending on illegals instead of actual natural emergencies. So yeah.
I so glad you're safe! Thank you for always keeping the focus where it belongs, on the truth of the matter and the real people being affected. You have such a gigantic heart!
The craziness I experienced this weekend was during my regular bible study at a home, here, in Colorado. We all agree not to talk politics, but one person started in about California. After finding out in 30 seconds that all of them were "T"humpers except for me. Total jaw drop! Convo quickly got heated, and all I was hearing say was that trump was going to call Marshall Law on California! I was like wtf is happening right now? I'm not going back with this group because I don't support that kind. Sad, because I used to like their smiles. The devil reared its head once again.
Thank you Brian and Elex, it's good hear people talk with honesty and consideration. Its a terrible, terrible tragedy that is still going. May it all stop very soon so all of these poor people can begin to mend. I wish them all the very best and will donate

When a house burns, all the water pipes and faucets melt, opening up the water flow full bore. Repeat this over hundreds of houses and it is no wonder the water pressure dropped and the water ran out. I feel so bad for all the people that have been devastated. They need help, not criticism.
Independent media is now more important than ever before . The fake news once this adminstration starts will be terrible. Fact checking by all people of integrity is going to be more important then ever before in american history

One can argue that those in charge in california who are Ignoring the root causes of the fires are just as political as those pointing out said causes. The problems in california with regard to fire prevention are not new and are well documented. Ignoring the problems and the mismanagement associated with them is in itself criminal. Yes, people are in need help now, but accountability is also needed. The very people that caused the problems are now trying to bury their failures by using diversionary tactics. Shutting down conversations to the root causes should be seen as a red flag. ruclips.net/video/vda9aFhBrjI/видео.htmlsi=NodznAHY0MsRDSoa
Appreciate Elex calling out the bullsh*t. I've seen so many comments trying to politicize, demonize or even make this about some sort of religious judgement. Absolutely disgusting behavior as he said.
One of the most profoundly compassionate and insightful messages I've heard since last Wednesday! This is the tack to take, not the bullshit political points-making so many of the principals seem to be engaging in. The collective trauma in LA is simply incomprehensible!
Ive lived in LA all of my life. We have always had bad winds, The issue is homeless, crime, and no water. Its obvious this was arson or honeless. Many of the past fires recently have been caused by those 2 factors. A reporter said there is a gag order for fire officials not to disclose if a fire was started by homeless. Even slowing down the fire couldve saved lives. Fires take quick action. Having to fibd a pool to fight a fire can make all the difference. The fire is a symptom of deeper problems here that arent being addressed.
I am so disgusted with people who are being ugly. Just fight this damn fire; help people. Powers that be "Get over yourselves." California Republican Senators just like Ted Cruz ran to kiss the ring instead of helping his constituents through this tragedy. Worthless as usual.
They're the People of the TV. The rest of the world isn't real to them, just something they watch for entertainment. You're talking about bored, cloistered dirtbags who have never even crossed paths with a Jewish person, but spend all their time with other dirtbags talking about how they're out to get them with space lasers, water flouridation, and Hollywood cults because it entertains them. It's not about the money to a narcissist, it's about attention at any cost to others. Five hundred people in the world have so much money they could collectively solve a lot of problems and their life wouldn't change a bit, so same question I guess. I agree with the gentleman, it is not the time to score political points, I like his challenge to trump, lets see if he does walk the fire ravaged streets and come up with more than a concept of a plan for the people whose live are broken by the fires.
Democrats have made whole legislative agendas based upon disasters and even single incidents. As others have pointed out, many in Appalachia are still waiting for disaster relief from Federal authorities who frankly didn't see a massive rebuilding project as worth their time or effort. So while its true that, "this is not the time for politics", sadly in 2020s America, politics happens nonetheless. So singling out Trump for being political seems disingenuous. Others have been as well.
Can't remeber ever watcing Fox News but scanning for LA fire coverage, I found this guy had the best information and updates so tuned in. If he loses his job for being honest, I'm sure he will have plenty of opportunities with better news outlets. He's accurate, logical and makes very valid points.
From the UK, seeing people from opposing sides of politics in the USA helping each other to help other citizens cope with disasters is really good. That is what America means to me.
They are not working together Trump and his minions have blamed the democrats and not once showed any compassion, offered to help them or thank Canada and Mexico for helping
That's what you're seeing ??? From the US....that's not what I'm seeing at all . The right is not helping at all . Imstead they are circulating lies about the cause of the fires and the problems with the response . People in LA are going through a traumatic experience and all Trump and is supporters want to is be mean , nasty and dishonest

Every house, no matter where it’s located, is someone’s home. Rich or poor. This is heartbreaking. 💔
Ehhhhhh except for the rich people have multiple houses typically so it's not their home, they have someplace else to go
James Woods has been actively spreading lies and bullshit over twitter, but he lied about his house burning down too. The thing is, firefighters don't care who you voted for or whatever, they will help you no matter what.
Not all houses. Some stay empty because nobody can afford to buy or rent them.

Elex Michaelson should be loudly commended for fair news reporting! Congrats Elex…. I’m in Westchester California and am watching this from my backyard. It’s frightening and devastating…. This is half truths playing stupid. Just like ALL youtube can't tell the whole truth videos.
I wish everyone at Fox was an intelligent professional with ethics like him. I would actually watch it.
Thank you Brian.

@TheGeosto save your keystrokes. no amount of explanation will change the ignorance.
The LA fire chief disagrees.
The LA Fire chief disagrees with you. The point is the fire department should have been allowed to do everything they could have. Hard to do with empty fire hydrants. Ive heard people saving their neighbor's homes with gardening hoses.

Are there any fire fighting systems that prevent a 1000 houses burning at the same time?

Mr. Cohen and Elex, thank you both for this awesome clarifying humanitarian video 🥰.
Finally, a decent human being! Thank you, Elex.
They love this.
Isn't Ted fr Texas?
@@dianayount2122 I think he was simply citing Ted as an example after his Cancun trip. California has plenty of dudes like Devin Nunes and gave us Richard Nixon, after all
They cut the fire budget.
Again, THERE IS NO WAY TO FIGHT THIS FIRE. This isnt a forest fire, its a firestorm now.
Thank you for finally addressing the lies and the facts.
Canada 🇨🇦 LOVES California! ❤
Colorado, as well ❤
We love you, Canada!❤
🇺🇲🩵🇨🇦
USA is still going to invade you. start shopping for health insurance
Americans Love Canada..Thank you forever for helping us during these fires❤
Very nice to of you Brian to introduce the only fox Anchor that shows honesty.

Has Elon musk donated any money? Or The other oligarchs?
Excellent question💙❤🔥🧑🚒👨🚒👩🚒❤🔥
They never "donate" they only invest. When they give 250 mio $ to a politican they want the same or more back in some form. If not they will not "donate" again.
Right?
No they're just blaming Dei
It's not about the money to a narcissist, it's about attention at any cost to others.
Five hundred people in the world have so much money they could collectively solve a lot of problems and their life wouldn't change a bit, so same question I guess.
Completely devoid of any understanding of empathy.
My friend lost his house and cat in the Paradise fire. I have friends that have had to evacuate in the latest fires. As far as 'rich people' (of which I am not one) regardless of how much money you have, you have possessions that are priceless that have no monetary value that can't be replaced. How this is being used as a political issues is both disgusting and disturbing.
Sending you hope and love❤ I am sorry for your friends lost 😢And I agree in what you wrote🎉People can be idiots😢 Instead to join all togheter and be strong and nice- kind. Not to harm one another in diffrent ways.A good leadership does not use other people to win a personal fight or harm people. Not in any way if you are diffrent than his or her standard mind set!
Absolutely. And even if you were 'rich' - a photo album, and worse, a pet - is a heartbreaking thing to lose.
@@jasondrummond9451 It is a longlife trauma that needs to heal gently ♡A step in time to heal♡ I wonder if your states in the near future will give free healtcare and a better humality to all familys.Rich.Poor.
And hug are free and a big smile can help a depression a lot moore than to give a Coffee away
The world needs love not war.

Santa Anna winds are NOT unprecedented!!! They should be expected as evidenced by history, this area was an easy target for fires no matter how they started…IMO
Seems disingenuous and a political narrative. Trump has not held any office in 4 years, but it’s his fault?
Can't remeber ever watcing Fox News but scanning for LA fire coverage, I found this guy had the best information and updates so tuned in. If he loses his job for being honest, I'm sure he will have plenty of opportunities with better news outlets. He's accurate, logical and makes very valid points.
From the UK, seeing people from opposing sides of politics in the USA helping each other to help other citizens cope with disasters is really good. That is what America means to me.
They are not working together Trump and his minions have blamed the democrats and not once showed any compassion, offered to help them or thank Canada and Mexico for helping
UK has a lot of problems. Maybe focus on that. Grooming gangs?
That's what you're seeing ??? From the US....that's not what I'm seeing at all . The right is not helping at all . Imstead they are circulating lies about the cause of the fires and the problems with the response . People in LA are going through a traumatic experience and all Trump and is supporters want to is be mean , nasty and dishonest
it's what it used to mean to most of us too, until a viralant contagion named djt entered the public forum. It has been a s&it show ever since.
Huh? Not from my observations. It's blame, blame, blame.
World Central Kitchen is also on the ground providing hot meals for fire survivors & 1st responders.
@@pamabernathy8728 thank you for sharing that information. The more🫶 the better👏👍
I’m sure that these guys will be sure to let us know when it *is* time to make this political. If every politician that contributed to the decisions that led to this disaster is not fired, then the lessons were not learned.
This is very good. Real journalism
Thank you, Elex, for not being an empty Faux echo chamber full of lies and 💩 imposing a political opinion. Keep presenting truth and hope for those devastated by these fires.
Right on a local Fox News anchor reporting the TRUTH with COMPASSION
And how do you know the truth when you listen to these propagandist. Remember when he said kamala would win?
FoxNews not gonna keep him. He told the honest truth like it should be told!! I don't know what he's done before, but I salute this!
He politicalized it when he said Trump was wrong about the smelt fish. He could of chose not to. Shame on him for shining the light of being political another democrat who loves to criticise Trump and say see, Look over there! Please
He's on a local Fox affiliate, not the Fox everyone thinks about when hearing that name, affiliates usually reflect the opinions of the customers they serve more than the big cable channel.
@@cheyenne7724no, he included examples of the very distractions that you are offering while discussing the very problem of blame gaming.
Your state has misplaced priorities. That's part of the reason your are in these kinds of problems repeatedly.
