    Looks pretty good man. For me, I get my garage up to 55° or 60° and make sure the humidiy is below 60%.

    There was a guy in a club I used to belong to that loved to paint outside in the winter especially when there was snow on the ground. His explanation was no dust, no pollen, just clean air. He would take it inside shortly after painting, and I'll admit that his finishes always looked good.

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  6 месяцев назад

      The lack of dust and other things floating around is definitely a bonus and i do believe i have gotten some nice finishes doing it this way too because of that or maybe ive just been lucky lol

    Been doing this for over 60 years. I find 3M frosted magic tape ( the green plaid) does a great job for two reasons. First it will leave a razor sharp edge, and the adhesive on the magic tape allows you to pull it off gently.

    I like the color combo, just got back into modeling after 45 yrs and just bought a ton of modeling equipment, my first build is the 85 Olds 442/FE3-X, always wanted a real one. So watching all these modeling videos has really helped me get ideas and suggestions on technique and tools. My next build I want to make is my real truck 1997 GMC ext cab shortbed, but since no modeling company has ever made one (WTF?) I bought two kits to make it, the 92 chevy Silverado reg cab shortbed, and the 96 Chevy ext cab c3500 Dually, gonna take the reg cab bed and put it on the ext cab and vice versa with the dually on the reg cab. and paint them both black like my real truck. looks like it should work out great. thanks for all the tips. I wished RUclips allowed us to show pics in the comment section like you can on facebook. I subbed and liked your vid, thanks again.

      Thats awesome! My first model back after a 10-15 year break was a 1983 hurst olds. Didnt turn out great but definitely brought back all the good memories of building and got me hooked again. If this channel keeps growing at the rate it is i may start a Facebook group aswell just so you guys can share your builds aswell. Your truck projects sound pretty awesome and im intrigued to see how they go. If you ever have any questions just leave them in the comments in any of my videos and i will do the best i can to help out. And also thanks for the support i greatly appreciate it!

    That was amazing. I use spray cans also. In an apartment complex, and don’t have a spray booth. It can be just as good as a air brush if you sand and polish.

    • @CoopersModelCars

      Honestly ive never sanded or polished a model yet but its coming. Right now im just doing as basic as possible to show that its possible to get good quality with what you have on hand

    I've recently spraypainted in 45ish F. temp. I did not try painting during our recent upper 20s F. night temps in North Florida. When the weather warms, it gets rainy here, high humidity. That adversely affects painting too.

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  7 месяцев назад

      Ya no doubt. The downfall for us right now is when it gets warm at all it starts melting the snow (and sometimes snows aswell) and that spiked thr humidity up aswell

    I painted many of the nuts, bolts, washers, a brackets for my '58 Pontiac (full size) by setting the parts and cans of paint and primer on the baseboard heater to warm (kind of scary hot). I then picked everything up and painted them out in the cold shop. Seemed to work real good. And no cans blew up!

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  6 месяцев назад

      I should probably warm my cans a bit but i just store them in the house and use them at that temp. I havent had issues yet but im sure my time will come lol

    before applying your masking tape, trim both side of the tape, with a straight ruler, the stick stuff long the sides a track fuzzes stuff from sitting around and you won't get nice clean demarcation lines.

    I've always at least sat the hood up on a spray can lid or something. Sucks when the part gets stuck then leaves that leading edge of the hood all jagged when you have to rip the hood off the cardboard after its dried 😂

    Great video. Freshly back at model building, I'm planning to use rustolium on my first project. I was also going to wait but now I'm inspired to go ahead. My question is there was some shiny dots, is that the gold flake or air bubbles? Looking forward to the next video and just subbed

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  7 месяцев назад

      Mostly the gold metallic showing thru the red (thats why i used it as the base coat) but however there is some imperfections from some snow getting on it on the way in the house. You can see when i did the outside shot some snow fell on the hood

    Jumped over from luka c. Do you like the 2x I see there. I going to give that a try. ?? You didn’t primer just went with primer paint right.? Good job really peaked my interest on cold painting.

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  7 месяцев назад

      I dont mind this 2x stuff especially for basecoats due to being able to skip primer. Ive had some pretty good results with it in my experience. Im sure its not the best way but then again i build for myself and not contests. Painting in the cold is new to me too. I just figured id give it a try and it worked out way better than i expected

    @jaybaldwib398 good job !my question what is your paint of choice

    • @CoopersModelCars
      @CoopersModelCars  6 месяцев назад +1

      Since i dont have an air brush i currently use spray paint for bodies and chassis (not particular to any brands i just grab the color i want and go) and then for small parts ive started using decoart acrylic craft paint from the dollarstore because its cheap and has a ton of colors and brushes on pretty decent. I usually cover the acrylic with duplicolor 1k clear coat too
