The original Kenny was Irish showband singer Tony Kenny who sang the Phil Coulter/ Bill Martin song Heart of Stone which was a minor hit. When he refused to do any more of their songs, they just put this group together. Coulter and Martin also wrote the Bay City Rollers songs, as well as Slik featuring Midge Ure. They even wrote the Scottish International Football team song, Easy. Kenny did actually play live. I saw them perform in a Dublin night club in the 1970s, they were pretty good at what they did.
This takes me back! I remember all this stuff, not just the music but the high-waisted flares etc. Mine were green with side pockets halfway down the leg (nice!) I nearly froze queuing for the disco in winter with just a half-open shirt and satin jacket, but at the time it just had to be done.
564 likes no hates just says it was a Excellent piece of music I was only 3 to 4 years old but I remember the song very well it was a noisy class piece of music 🎶
The lead singer has possibly the most 70s outfit and haircut on RUclips. With a decent run-up l reckon with that shirt collar he could actually take off........
This is another one of the band Kenny with a song called Julie Anne I am dedicating this song to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester Brand from Billyxxx
Over in Canada, Peter Foldy recorded "Julie Ann" for Capitol Records. Peter's version had a lot more energy. "Julie Ann" did quite local on the local mammoth hit radio station 1050 CHUM AM in Toronto. Naturally, since I grew up on Peter's cover of the song, I'm more biased towards his performance and production. That being said, it's pretty cool hearing Kenny's version though.
Seen then in the Lido, in the Isle of man 1975 , seen the rollers in the shuffles Glasgow just when they brought out remember, I can assure both bands were great live, don't listen to the drivel that they cannot play their instruments. 😎
This group never actually existed. Music all done by session musicians and four pretty boys were brought in to do the miming. The lead vocals were by Barry Palmer, who later did stuff with Mike Oldfield in the 80's.
Another superfluous one hit wonder. The seventies poured them out like potato chips. Nice for a dance one party evening but soon to be forgotten. The stupid radio stations and BRAVO magazines, though, tortured one endlessly with this stupid crap.
Good song and can't believe it is almost 49 years old😊. Time flys😮
I loved this song when.it came out
Great songs of the 70s best times ever i was a teenager back than happy days

People dont realise how hard songwriting it is.
Heart of stone was a decent tune.

Love it. It's amazing how many bands of that era were trying to sound like Status Quo...
Yea I noticed that
they were better than the Quo ,,, lol
@@pip461 You can't beat the Quo. They are legends and they are still play today

Sounds exactly like the bay city rollers, and no suprise really
Yes 👍
They were more preppier than the BCR both in sound and image. Good song though.

Julie.... you know who you are....
I was named after this song 🎵
I started singing ",midnight special"
Magia glam rocka !
These guys actually played in SAMs in Exmouth in their heyday.

Wow! The guitarist in yellow really pogos as 1.28. Its like he has just been ejected!
Kenny the group never sounded like status quo to different groups
Sounds like Hi Hi Hi
Catacombi Lahti ....
Summerlove sensation ?
Did they have any other hits? Were they set up purposely to sound like the Bay City Rollers?
The bump
Yes. 1) The Bump 2) Baby I Love You, OK 3) Fancy Pants 4) Reach Out, I'll Be There (Germany only) 5) Hot Lips (Germany only)
79s band do 60s and 50s retro music

The drummer was Andy Walton. Went to school with him. He was a complete prat even then.
Same session musicians as the bay city rollers.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
the number of boys in the band was five

sounds like an Abba song

I thought that too
Not sure what ABBA you have been listening too

How they never tripped over the lapels on the shirts..70s were shite
Bullshit , we’re you there ? Best times ever

Rick is a talent, much more than people give him credit for, he later joined Cockey Rebel and also worked with Alison Moyet.
