I’m ncat 26’ and was wondering if you have any advice for nso?

So because I’m ncat25 and we didn’t get an in-person nso, I don’t know much about it. I can say beforehand I would recommend joining groupchats and meeting some ppl in ncat26 beforehand so that when you go you already know a few people. And to just be social, get out your comfort zone when you go!
This is a video on RUclips of the last official in-person nso a&t had. This may give you a little more reference : ruclips.net/video/sx03Z35KaPM/видео.html

Is there anyway possible to get a room to yourself as a freshman

Yes, I was able to get a single as a freshman. The only thing is, I wasn’t aware of my suite-mate ahead of time. I also wasn’t aware that our suite had a bathroom in it. The custodians were not responsible for cleaning our bathroom or providing us with anything. Thankfully I got along with my suitemate and sharing a bathroom worked out.

i believe it could be possible.. but bc of a&t recent housing issues it’s very unlikely. They barely have room to house the current students so i don’t see anyone getting a single honestly … but i’m not going to say it can’t happen.

unless you have a serious medical issue or if you are able to get a really good suite ! and freshman do have priority so that’s a plus

What do you do if you don’t get the housing

People in the past have had to get hotels or stay in on / or off campus apartments .. the housing situation at a&t isn’t good honestly. I would continue to call housing to figure out a plan if housing is full though

Is the problem for housing for freshman and upperclassmen? I can understand if freshmen were upset bc they should be on campus, but I’ve seen where upperclassmen were upset as well. I think from my research upperclassmen use to stay on campus but NCAT had a big boom in popularity over the recent years which caused a housing crisis. I graduated in 2005 from a PWI but our upperclassmen stayed off campus once our 1 dorm for them was filled.

Yes you’re right. freshman are guaranteed housing and yes this is still currently a HUGE issue. Personally, I think at least sophomores and juniors (or just underclassmen at the least) should get housing. But once your no longer a freshman at a&t you aren’t guaranteed anything which i think is ridiculous.

as a 19 year old sophomore, them expecting to me pay rent ($600-$800 a month) and live off campus is ludicrous😭

@@kaylanamiko thank you for the quick response! We recently visited NCAT and the campus is beautiful. It’s my son’s #1 choice. I believe the housing market made things worse with COVID. Of course things have changed since I graduated in 2005, but my roommate and I would take our refund checks and pay our rent for the semester. Our little part time job paid our utilities. Again, this was back in the day and our rent was only $700 max combined. From my research, they are accepting more freshman as they have record level applications. Another college near ours had this problem so they contracted with an apartment complex and blocked off a couple buildings. I remember they had their buses comes to get their students and take them back and forth to campus. Idk is this is something NCAT is looking at if they aren’t already building more dorms. Hopefully they figure something out. Good luck and stay blessed!
