Mommy Scandinavia's reaction to becomming Rome is and forever will be priceless.
But overall, as a historically interested person, this was one of the best panels I've seen. The acting is on par with any stage performance and the characters aren't just characters, they are lifelike, which is freakishly hard to do. I also love how each and everyone has evolved the characters, quite often when you see ancients described they are the parents or the warriors or the idiots who later died. Quite seldom do you see them as actual nations with their roles as just being them, and then all the other crazy stuff happened because trust me. Very seldom do you take on a role in life, you just are. And I love how each and everyone had taken their own interpretation of that.
Hope to see another panel from these guys one day, because you were all brilliant! A bit hard for me to see them live though, as I am from Sweden, so best of luck!

Replies to this literally months later--
Hey, this is the ancient Greece here. For one, we did 2 panels this year (one 18+ and then a pg-13 panel) which is actually up now.
I also wanted to say thank you so, so much for your kind words. Honestly, it means a lot to myself and I'm sure the others too to see someone being so supportive of us as we learn more about our characters and try our best to be as true to the characters as we can during the panels. The Ancients are a lot of fun to be and interact with each other as so I'm glad that comes through.
Anyways, I hope that you have a fantastic day and that you know that these kind words have made my day so much brighter.

This is the Child!Ukraine from Saturday. You guys were incredible up on stage on Saturday night, and I have a message for you and the rest of the Ancientalia panelists from my friend. I wanted to leave your group a note on behalf of my friend, who attended your panel as the back-up photographer, but I didn't really know how to address the entire group.
To get to my point, she had never really sat in on a panel like this before, not really being into Hetalia much herself. She's been to Ask-panels before, but this one blew her away, and she was raving about it for the rest of the night. Emi felt like she was sitting in with the actual characters that night, watching the family drama and OC-stealing unfold, and loved every second of it. Your performances impressed her so much that she wants to start cosplaying Heian-period Japan, and get in on this historical Hetalia cosplay business. Keep up the good work guys! You did an awesome job! She doesn't get a chance to exercise her ridiculous history knowledge about Japanese/Chinese/Korean political relations much, so when she saw how seamlessly you guys did it, it suddenly made sense to her.

Replies to this comment even later as it has been a year--
Hey, it's the Ancient Greece from the panel. I wanted to reply to this comment even though you know me and we've talked before. I just wanted to say thank you so much for leaving this comment here. We've been talking about the panel and last years too and our Kievan Rus actually brought the comments on here to our attention today so I decided to look and found this.
Anyways, I'm so glad that your friend liked this last year so much and I hope that that she gets a chance to wow everyone with her knowledge and cosplay.
Truly, this comment made my con even better than it was last year when you said this before, especially from someone who I've looked up to in the cosplay community for your fantastic cosplays.
I hope that you have a great day when you read this!
