Ateez trained in California for a decent amount of time, also a few of the members stayed back to work with producers from the US to enhance their skills.
Ateez is heavily diverse, I heard someone say you can really tell their target audience is for poc (specifically black and brown), and I agree. Which is probably why Ateez has a more black and brown fan base.
ATEEZ was at Coachella, ma mans. They are the first kpop boy group to perform at Coachella. They filmed this in the US (don't know where specifically), but they did it when they came to perform for Coachella!!
Also, I recommend BOUNCY, CRAZY FORM, GUERRILLA and HALAZIA!! Please! Trust me, you haven't seen the full potential of ATEEZ MVs. You are gonna be MIND BLOWN!! TRUST ME!!
HIGHLY recommend their Killing Voice because its actually KILLER. Hongjoong, is the leader but we call him the Captain because of their Pirate themed lore. The other members are San, Wooyoung, Mingi, Yunho, Seonghwa, Yeosang and the youngest, Jongho who can do really powerful high notes.

Vintage dystopian is such a good way to describe them!! Most of their MV’s and songs have an intense western apocalyptic feel!! Ateez is one of the top k pop 4th gen groups and they’re FIRE 🔥🔥 they just dropped a new album a few days ago that’s amazing with no skips. They have a strong LA and Latin influence and are known as the best dancers in their generation. I def recommend you check out their new album and some of their music videos!

Ateez are also chill with J Balvin, they met and hung out at Coachella! Ateez performed at Coachella and J Balvin was in the audience boppin. There’s lots of rumors of a collaboration soon! Crazy Form is a MV you would love. Some of their Latin inspired B sides are Ariba and Blind. This MV was filmed in LA! Not Arizona but close.

I love Ateez--found them first on Kingdom: Legendary War with Stray Kids on Team Mayfly. Loved them evr ince, especially Mingi & Daddy Hongjoong.
No no, you are very right. Ateez music is very diverse, but before they Debuted, they released Hip Hop Dance covers and were/ still are dance MONSTERS (to the point where other younger groups avoid covering their music and dances- which is why they were the first Kpop Male Group at Coachella 2024). They Trained in LA as Trainees where I heard its very diverse, to they are probably using a lot of the influence from their trainee days with this Song/MV and their Music as a whole.
But I totally get it that you guys feel like they "did their research" or "had black friends when growing up" lol. Ateez writes and even has producing credits and they were inspired by a lot of the greats, Linkin Park, Eminem, Nas, Micheal Jackson plus a lot of communities and Kpop Idols. They do a lot of research for each song, each lyric and each track, down to the outfits and the message they want to get across for each album.
(also note, Kpop is an Industry, not a genre, so they will be a ton of different sounds/feelings from each group).
There are 8 in the group and the two oldest are 26, the youngest being born in 2000, so he's 24. All of them are korean, but are learning English. If you wanna watch something fun and get a feel for them, I highly recommend their ATEEZ plays Jenga Video, they are so funny ngl. The leader is called Captain because of their Pirate/Anarchist Lore and Music - you'll see what we mean and he has the most writing credits in the group with over 120+ (i think its 132 these days but i'll have to double check).

This song "Guerrilla" is a vital part of their lore, it is a revolution song against a corrupt robotic android run government that bans any kind of art forms being used as they push the agenda of human emotion being disruption or disease which is ironically so relevant. Anyway, their lore includes being pirates of the sea and sky, time-traveling using hourglass they call Chromer, duality of the characters, multiple dimensions, Friendship, Tragedy, Antagonist and searching for utopia in a dystopian world. Their albums are divided in three series so far-Treasure Series-(3/4 albums), Fever Series-(3 Albums), World Series-(3 Albums) and lastly new one starting tomorrow- Golden Hour (3 or 4 albums ? probably assuming). Their albums intertwine between imaginary fairytale like Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, to real life issues like mental health issues to Dystopian Sci-Fi Futuristic Story Building.
