Genius! I can't wait to see where this goes. As far as all the backtalk, people were laughing at windsurfing in the 70s, and laughed at SUPs in the 90s.
Lots of negative comments, yet most brands are sold out or back ordered. Pretty psyched to add this dimension to my quiver, not replace my quiver with this dimension. A nice safe, rigging-free alternative for a quick solo foil session when kiting isn't ideal...like on a lake with no beach.
A pro like Kevin makes everything look easy. I wonder how easy it would be for an average guy who just tried it for the first time on a SUP board? Would you need a need a dagger board of some kind to go upwind?
Mike Skor 4 sq meters of this wing is nothing for daggerboard. To accelerate daggerboard of let say 3.50 meters length you need a sail not less than 6 square meters and harness and lines to hold it. Take a sail of 4 sq meters and try to sail on daggerboard- you’ll get nothing
A lot of wingsurfers recommend starting winging on a SUP. My local surfshop recommended trying the foil board in a wake park first (as it's a smaller volume, so harder but more fun after initial learning curve). With the SUP you're going downwind fast and won't get back as there is no counter tension in the water. I'm going to try the wing on a beach, maybe on a skateboard and go the wake park route with the lower volume foil probably. Hard to order these as they're sold out everywhere I live. Oh yeah, I saw a video of winging with a small surfboard but the fellow said it was rather tough as compared to foil.
I used a kitewing with a harness, This is a kitewing for water, there is no reason why you couldn’t use a harness here. It’s incredibly intuitive to tack and jibe.
Brian Talma..everythin lookin juss fine...all irie...! long time no see...best wishes from Robin (Camera PBA early 90's) now in Aotearoa....and Sir Naish..still showing us how to stay young....good on your guys....safe travels.
I windsurf, surf, supsurf and recently started foiling.... Wanted to start foil surfing and seems like a this is great product for on Aruba that is always windy! I like everything, as long as i can go in the water. I think its awesome, and yeah, sorry kitesurfers, but the rest of us that like alot of things do think its cool that companies are innovating and providing options
Bro it’s only for small winds and foil boards, it’ s just an additive for real wind and kitesurfing cause for strong winds you really need harness and lines
I saw these a few weeks back in an email from MAC Kiteboarding and started looking into it.They look like fun. There are quite a few videos out about them. I used to windsurf long ago and want to get into kiteboarding when my shoulder heals (recent surgery) and these look like a good time. Saw a video with Robby Naish talking about his and demonstrating it. Pretty cool
You would be surprised. On a foilboard, the drag is very low and the wing supplies lift, so there is not too much load on the arms, you can ride much longer than you might think. Easily winging for over an hour (so far).
Looks like fun aside ones equip. indeed like Robby mentioned, moderate winds & prohibited kite zones, cool! my case however just spend over 2k on a Foil set, board 4.6. I guess to small size? if I also need another bigger foil board for this I guess I'd need to wait a few empty Batches.. ;-) See yha Tarifa folks ✌
all the haters haha!! never knowing with all their negative comments they are helping the companies sell like crazy! First batches in all companies are already out!! thanx guys ;-) btw; Everyone just do your thing and stop nagging! Some idiots saying they rather kitesurf but actually they spend 20 days in a year on the water...
Some manufacturers are already developing bigger wings to increase speed. Personally I use a 9,0-43-120 liters supsurfing board, but you need at least some 20 to 25 knots wind.
Wing surfing = more time on the water... looked like even the pros were struggling a tad there...ah well, keeping the money flowing in Robbie's direction I guess
misschien moeilijk voor jou om te doen maar het is echt niet zo moeilijk hoor... en alle merken komen er mee uit dus het geld gaat niet alleen naar Robbie en uiteindelijk zijn het verkopers van een product dus het mag he..? ;-)
it´s clearly tricky to get water started from it. I imagine the only cool situation would be riding it with a foilboard, but, once you get the minimum of wind to do so, a conventional combination of foilboard and kitefoil or tubefoil would be much more fun. So, by now, I can see no advantage.
I can't wait to do a sixty foot air over one of these things on my kitesurfer! It will increase the speed of SUPs and keep them upwind so you get to jump over them more often. Plus they will all have newly purchased pumps at the beach for when mine breaks!
Wingsurfing has been around for decades. The latest "trend" is just an opportunity from top manufacturers to suck even more cash from the community. Nowadays everything is about advertising, promotions, marketing, sponsorship, sales, social medias bullshits and recognition. Greed is killing the original spirit of the sport. It all depends. Apartments are expensive but people do get credit for it. This costs around a low end used car which will break faster than your equipment, thus needing reinvestment to function. If you really want it, you will get it eventually. I sure know I want one.
Very interesting, still needs some improving, like a hook so one could lean backwards in the same way you do in kitesurf and your hands won' t get stiffed and painful.
Cool. All you need now is $3k for the foil SUP, $800 for the wing and endless hours down the beach to practice no hand water starts to get planing ... and you’ll be skimming along like a Pro windsurfer/kite surfer Really ... 🤦♂️😆

Lol,sup is a dying sport, where have you spent the last decade?. Most of professional surfers are now sup surfing. Sup surfing is the next dimension to surfing. You don't need tow,jet-ski and babysitters. You can take your board offshore and catch big swells on your own, without any assistance.
It’s getting stupid. Even the experienced wind surfers looked clumsy. Its always about buying more plastic crap to have fun you’ll never have because your working to pay for more plastic crap.Stop buying plastic crap.
The guys with kites look like they’re having more fun. Which kite company was first, it seems everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and has a wing this season.
I’d like to (or better to see a pro) try this with a skimboard: not wave, shorebreak but extended flat portions of wide surf beaches, as skim boards don’t have any fin ...
No, people involved in kitesurfing have real passion for what is a marginal sport, this is a very marginal thing in a marginal sport. I am really not convinced about this in any way. Robbie and Kevin are legends.

Luis Escobar I was fortunate enough the get my hands on the SPG double strut 4m. It is incredibly strong and feather light, highly recommend.

Definitely looks like a good workout!! And where kite is forbidden could be a good way to still enjoy water and wind. I'll have to try it.
This thing is perfect for a sailboat. It deflates and is compact. Very dope!
Sold
takes up the same space as a kite and bar-- you'll still need a pump unless you go with a foilkite, then no pump :)
They should probably make some transparent panels in the wing, so you can see downwind since because of right of way
The duotone wing has exactly that
Armstrong and RRD also have that.
Robby said the thing that appeals to me. The simplicity of it.
That's what was putting me off kiting.
I used a kitewing with a harness, This is a kitewing for water, there is no reason why you couldn’t use a harness here. It’s incredibly intuitive to tack and jibe.

Kev can foil with a towel in his hands and even without it and it's still going to be fun :o)
And so true
How are you "rigging in 20 sec"? Are they not inflatable?
Probably wind ram
You could do this on a small lake or even river... packs down small... it's just something different...just like kitesurfing when it started...
Real cool, how much for one of those kites & one of those hydrofoil boards, the exact one you using in this video?
Around 3k EUR currently.
I love Windsurfing :) But this looks fun too.
Is it also possible to use the wingsurfer with a strapless kiteboard? Or is it only possible with a supboard or Foil?
You definately need some (much) volume in your board, thats why he mentiones just sup
If your strapless has much volume, it probably works
Some manufacturers are already developing bigger wings to increase speed. Personally I use a 9,0-43-120 liters supsurfing board, but you need at least some 20 to 25 knots wind.

Could i ride with twintip in 40kts?
How much is a wing worth?
I have an idea: put 4 lines on it with a bar ...........
stick with your dashcams bro

I don't see anybody Boonton 40-foot airs off the lip though
Seem like a really niche product to me, I guess it will be useful for some people
