      One small diction mistake you keep making. You wish to say "significant NUMBER" not "significant AMOUNT". That is a common diction mistake made by English speakers who incorrectly conflate "number" and "amount". Amount pertains to price: "The amount is $4.69." Number pertains to countable items, "Can you tell me the number of patriot missiles the U.S. is using daily?"

It isn't in Europe because it was sold out in Ukraine.. a portion of the remaining stock is being shipped back to the EU... From USA, because that is only place it was not sold out. Japan also sold out it's stock btw. Happy to answer all inquiries and challenges. Find our email on website

      Everyone with 2 neurons firing knows that "critical components" for shahed drones for both Russia and Iran come from China. This vid is absolute top derangement. Same goes for the goddamn Ukraine, it is absolutely incapable to do anything on its own, Chinese components in everything. Oil flow can't be fixed with escorts, there was failure to do this even against Houthis, the flow resumed only after there was an agreement. No agreement with Iran, no oil flow. One needs to control the entire Iranian coast to secure transport.

    You stated that media is choosing to focus on Russia's perspective much more than the lessons from WW2,
    Let's face it. Here's why you have this job :
    1) Society fails to teach critical thinking adequately until (most) undergrad studies
    2) Society inadequately teaches that history repeats and also what history tells us or how to take lessons out of the facts
    You do well at both of these

      I feel bad for being such a contrarian on this channel because Im a huge supporter of Ukraine. I think it pays to be aware that every single video Paul posts is a positive update about the Ukraine War regardless of what is happening.
      It's good to be an optimist but there are ebs and flows of every war and I want to advocate for hearing a more balanced view of what is happening. Continued civil unrest in Iran and the possibility that sanctions wont be enforced for some time might favor Russia in the medium term. I hope Im wrong.

    • @hrhdmk5845
      @hrhdmk5845 Month ago +7

      @mattd6200 I hope so too. Because as time goes by, Ukraine are able to successfully strike more and more Russian oil production capabilities (& will certainly refuse to allow Russians in to fix that Druzhba pipeline). Even if the buyers of Putin’s oil would be willing to pay a higher price, or some countries become new customers willing to take the risk of getting caught buying sanctioned oil, Putin may not be able to produce the amounts required to earn a good profit.

    • @PaulJWarburg
      @PaulJWarburg Month ago +59

      I’m not just an optimist for the sake of being an optimist. I’m an optimist because the evidence backs it. And so far, everything I’ve said about the Ukraine War that has had enough time to come true has indeed come true. I hate patting myself on the back, but it’s quite a track record, and I mention it because I know a lot of people rely on what I say, and I take it quite seriously.

    • @mattd6200
      @mattd6200 Month ago +3

      @hrhdmk5845 I honestly think that the Russian economy is in deep trouble long term, but it will take time. The more pressing concern is Ukrainian manpower. While Russia is losing more men, Ukraine might be losing more men per capita when accounting for casualties, AWOL and desertions. These numbers are hidden from the public but they are undoubtedly high. It is a troubling concern that Paul has ignored thus far for some reason.

    Hi Paul! As a Ukrainian who regularly watches your videos on Ukraine and hardly comments on any videos, today I felt the need to finally do it. My native city in Ukraine is suffering under missiles' and shacheds' attacks nearly every day. My parents, other relatives, and many friends still live there and it is hard to read all the news about damages and lost lives. It's had to the point where I sometimes feel desperate. However, you're one of the few people who gives me hope. Lack of analysis in the news or straight propaganda make the picture look black and white. You, on the other hand, try to give a thorough analysis and show that there're still possibilities to survive. Thank you for supporting Ukraine and Ukrainian businesses as well! Lots of love to you and your family. Stay safe and healthy.

      Here in FRANCE we see many Ukrainian young people driving around in UA registered cars. Apparently they have decided to leave Ukraine until the civil war ends. We pray that day can not be far away. We must rely on President TRUMP to get this conflict sorted out by making some concessions on territory for Russian-Ukrainian separatists in DONBAS. However the leader of UKRAINE seems reluctant to do so at this stage even after 4 years of war. Pity.

    It is not only the interceptor drone. It's the software, the layering of defences , and the daily development -adaptation to swift changes that characterize drone warfare. UA updates daily, real-time. Russians too. And thats it. Even Russia is slower. Procurements , testing, tenders bureaucracy have been minimized in UA. This brings crazy flexible business approach that will be hard to match in the West, where 1 UA day takes 8-10months in the West. UA won't sell drones to Quatar, UAE or US, they will sell service contracts, full package. Send teams,, not hardware. More added value here.

    Such a thoughtful commentary. I particularly loved the reminder that many nations endured constant bombardment during WW2 & had entire cities wiped out but didn’t buckle because of it. 17:18 That’s a potent historical example of the resilience the human spirit is capable of, which Ukraine role models so powerfully today. Another great reminder is that staying focused on long-term outcomes can help us weather even the worst short-term storms. Really a great, calm-inducing (😊) roundup. There are many systems that can shoot down comparatively large military jets, land-based systems like IRIS-T, air-to-air missiles and MANPADs. Patriots systems can cover a larger area but hopefully the Patriot radar system should still be able to detect these aircraft and direct other resources towards them.

      America has no land there to give them though? Oh, you think that Iran is losing?
      I mean, it's not like they will be in a position to counter attack or anything, but I don't see them losing this. They will hold everyone at bay while they continue to kill their own people and it's way too unpopular to send a hundred thousand Americans there to get shot and blown up, so they just have to hold on until Trump gives up. Which looks like soon.

    It’s not only Ukraine that is getting notice on affordability and equipment that is made to counter a larger opponent. Sweden is getting a lot of interest in their fighter jet system, (also by Ukraine, who understands this better than everyone else), and their doctrine.
    Sweden has also been a staunch supporter of Ukraine, and the collaboration is growing fast, with drone tech flowing to Sweden, and IFV and other vehicle tech flowing to Ukraine. Sweden also trains pilots and officers for Ukraine, and are ofc getting drone pilot training in return.
    I see this war and immediately think the European countries could build up their own Shahed-like drone stockpile to put in storage for a rainy day. The industrial capacity is there to pump this out en masse.

      NATO was never going to attack Russia, we enjoyed doing business with them and everyone winning, but now? I mean I know the Polish, Baltic, and Finnish governments would rather do the invading then be the invaded watching the atrocities Russia is committing.

      Yep! This is the EXACT paradox that happened after the Iran Iraq war. Iraq came out of that war in massive debt and exhausted, but with a military FIVE times the size, rated as the 4th most powerful military in the world, which emboldened him to invade Kuwait. Iran came out of that war the same - at the start, the Ayatollah was battling internal factions for control, but the was unified the Iranians around the Ayatollah, the exact opposite of Saddam's goal to bring down the Ayatollah.

    Finally, you provided an explanation I was seeking. I was puzzled by Ukraine's ready agreement to help counter the Iranian Shaheeds by sending help to that area. When I heard that announced, they did not report if Ukraine asked for anything specific in return, they only reported Zelenskyy's generic phrase that "we help those who help us". So one was left with the impression that maybe Ukraine was only making another demonstration of goodwill. I kept thinking that this was an opportunity for Zelenskyy to drive a harder bargain and get something valuable in exchange. I heard for the first time in this video that they actually asked for Patriot missiles. I hope it's true and that they get them.

    Drones are different in another important aspect. Unlike traditional Soviet or American weapon systems launched from the rear, drones are a front line multiplier as well as a cheap defensive backstop. The multiplier is increased in part due to Ukraine’s expertise in the many ways to best leverage and adapt them to the battlefield. Rapid innovation. So, drone sales are best upsold with consulting expertise creating more value for the Buyer. This reinforces the partnership relationship.

    WW2 is NOT a equivalent situation, that was British Merchant Marines, people doing military service as Crew and Officers aboard civilian ships to make shure their County survived. Secondly the closest equivalent you might have from WW2 is the Mediterranean Sea situation and no nation today have the number of ships needed to guard a convoy attacked from land much less armour that can take any sort of hit. Anyway the ships is a minimal concern when it is supremely easy to light oilfields and refineries on fire. Even just stopping production for a short while will most likely result in wells needing to be redrilled. And now that Trump is lifting the sanctions on Russia they will make money wich isn't good for Ukraine.
    Lastly, production capacity takes years if not decades to build up and with Europe stopping their orders of american supply it isn't a growing market for a private company to invest in.

    I hope you’re right. Why is there no navy escorting the tankers?

    • @PaulJWarburg
      @PaulJWarburg Month ago +17

      My assumption is it's not their most high priority mission right now. There's plenty of reserves to offset shortages.
      The navy seems to think they can make a bigger difference for the time being by focusing their assets on taking Iran's offensive capabilities offline. Less offensive capabilities = less need for escorts.
      If it becomes a longer term crisis, I'm sure we'll see naval escorts emerge.

      @PaulJWarburg thank you for your reply. I’m sure you’re right in that convoys will start to appear. I just don’t see why they’re not in place sooner.

    The oil crisis could be more substantial than what you anticipate. There is a bunch of irrational leaders taking immediate decisions without understanding the underlying factors. It's almost impossible to argue rationally in such environment when one irrational decision is leading to the next. This is making the situation so unpredictable and dangerous.

    16:00 about the russian supposedly diminishing stock of drones: since Feb 18 the Ukrainian military reported daily numbers of shot down russian UAVs in the range of 1500 (earlier it used to be around 1000). More recently, since Feb 20, that number climbed into the 1700s with occasional drops, and still more recently, in March, it climbed still higher, into the 2500s. So it does not look like their stocks are seriously impaired.

      Production has only increased as they've cleared out crappy old models and have started streamlining production. The hothouse economic growth this war has provided Russia is so depressing.

      They are still using drones produced before the Iran conflict. There is no way they can deliver the drones to front units in less than a week.

      a better more sensible explanation is the UA numbers of every sector of this war are fantastic numbers of fantasy . propaganda that shocks me that more people cannot see through and will not understand nor be able to accept the Ukraine loss of this war.

    • @Géopodcalypse
      @Géopodcalypse 29 days ago +1

      @stephenkevindoss1474 Yeah right 😂😂😂 And it's also Ukrainian propaganda that made russia own less territory today than what they did at the end of 2022.
      Mentioning the staggering amount of Ukrainian propaganda without mentioning the russian one is beyond ridiculous, doesn't hold serious scrutiny for 10 minutes.

    • @arctic_haze
      @arctic_haze 29 days ago

      @Géopodcalypse There is an old Russian saying from the time of the Tsars: "I don't believe in undisproven information". In Russia, it is still true. Everything is a lie over there.

    The most important part of the Patriot is actually the radar. Even with limited shots available, its ability to be used for target detection and discrimination should not be understated.

      Bombing cities ties up defensive capabilities meaning that ukraine cant use them where they want to. If you can force ukraine to protect lviv they cant use those assets to take back the occopied oblasts.
