One thing I find weird is teslas have a different charging port standard than other electric cars? effectively that means there needs to be two charging station networks to make road trips possible, one for teslas and one for every other electric vehicle. 5 years ago this was much more of an issue, but the infrastructure with standardized chargers is finally becoming somewhat usable for non tesla. proprietary chargers are lame :/
The news is Tesla has plans to start fitting standard CCS cables to their U.S. Supercharger stations, making them compatible with all the other manufacturers' electric vehicles. Assuming Tesla actually goes through with this, it is likely a prerequisite to Tesla switching the cars they make in the future over to using CCS rather than their proprietary connector.
personally the thing that made Elon irredeemable was his safety record, treatment of workers, and the future he seems to want even if I took everything his fanboys say at face value, his 'vision' for the future expressed when he talks about the loops, EVs, SpaceX, etc is one that just seems to want to separate wealthier people from the masses through access to more "premium" means of transit and the like add to this the fact that he has the worst safety record in the industry, his workers are reporting careless disregard for safety on the floor, racial discrimination within his companies, and now sexual harassment AND that his companies reponse to these dangers or criticisms being pointed out has been to go on the offensive against whistleblowers and try to silence journalists that report on things like requiring customers to sign NDAs to get repairs he knows his place in the class war, and we should know ours. solidarity wins
Exactly. Plus I wouldn't trust anyone who would name their child something ridiculous and likely damaging to their future life like "X Æ A-Xii", likely as a publicity stunt
Two things here: 1. I think this was the first video about an electric vehicle I've ever seen that didn't talk about range (and you only mentioned charging once), which I think is very impressive. 2. I feel like I've learned something about what is like owning a tesla (from a cat enthusiast's standpoint, which I think is quite rare). Thank you!
No problem! I'm definitely a performance car enthusiast before a Tesla enthusiast. Range was never a problem for me or a concern, which is why I have a standard RWD car. Done a 1000 mile+ road trip with no problems whatsoever. People focus on range way too much when it's frankly such a minor part of owning the car Overall I'm very happy with my car purchase. My complaints are with Tesla themselves, the cars overall are great (but not perfect obviously)
I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your car. And yeah I can see why you have these problems with tesla. (Also, I think no car is perfect, especially considering that different people want different things from a car ^^)
if im not mistaken not honoring a warranty because a completely different part of the device isn't factory oem isnt technically legal for them to do but because of how costly it to to take any company to court over this they tend to just get away with it, until a historic legal landmark is set in this field i doubt anything with change with it
I'm so glad that one of my favorite creators is also a fantastic animator and artist and is a car enthusiast. It's like the whole 9 yards. I appreciate you talking about this issue as well. I've been considering getting a Tesla but I am broke because I like classic cars. So because I don't have a Tesla I was really unaware of all the stuff it's good to know going into it.
Damn it feels nice to see more common people talking about this issue. I’ll admit I’m more on the Tesla hatred side but I still want to see then be a good company. And more and more it’s shown there scummy policies/business model are holding them back from being that. Also hello fello car enthusiast furry. Feels rare to see em
Tesla is to cars what Apple is to its devices: As in they actively attempt to enforce their own terms over every single detail, even when the customer is perfectly capable of doing so without their unwanted help.
I am someone who was never fully trusting of electric cars given how many obstacles and challenges the production of them have towards the environment and the damage to the earth to get to those metals, but now I know how stingy and unfriendly to the aftermarket tesla is I think I'll stay with my Mazda's. Though in serious fashion there needs to be an outrage and uproar about this exact issue so we can CHANGE and also set a precedent about our right to repair. I hope to see what the car community and other communities can do if we worked together to fight back against cooperate and their tactics to taking our rights to repair what we own. Sincerely, your brothers and sisters from America.
Very nice video that expressed something that was bugging me too. Sure a Tesla may be a nice car, but forget doing your own repairs. Right to repair needs to be spread further to garner more support.

I agree, right to repair in general is a big thing when it comes to cars and to take that away is not a good thing. The agricultural industry also has a lot of the same issues where if you find the systems to code new parts for a tractor, it voids the warranty. There was a lawsuit going on about this in the agriculture industry but apple and android got involved because of the bill passes it would allow iPhone and android users to fix their own devices as well. Great video though, good discussion.
this ideally is very smooth, all the points in my opinion were sectioned perfectly creating the flow to be simple and easy to understand. I never really knew much about Tesla so this was great!
based thank you for talking about this because tesla is similar to apple when it comes to repear (still not as bad as apple but still) and very few people I've seen outside of forums talk about that
We Did just get Starlink Delivered a few days ago and what the complainers are basically, people that have other options and hate that its not fast and great instantly, when rural people have no issues with it and its life changing, people just have it and dont like it when its not fast enough, when people that desperately need it cant get it due to those who dont need it having it, ill update what its like when its installed
This is fantastic and I love hearing your opinion on something you're so passionate about. Talking as someone from the US. I'd like to bring up that in California, they've got a program just like Cash for Clunkers (cause we all know how well that went) where if you trade in your old ice car for a new electric car they give you up to $9,500 towards a new electric or hybrid car in a state where there are constant brown outs and wildfires. I believe that our electrical grid is just not ready for electric cars, especially with the constant animosity toward nuclear energy. Up in the north east we have no problem with cheap and renewable power but in the south west hydroelectric dam reservoirs are down extremely low. Altogether, getting rid of ICEs suddenly like they're doing is a terrible idea.
The right to repair is very important, and I hope soon, that anyone who is qualified to repair the machine or technology they own, can because parts have been made available. I have a very similar problem Except I’m not around Teslas, I’m around John Deer Combines and the like to which is absolutely horrendous to fix because of similar problems.
I did not know you worked at llt no wonder you always sounded the whole time I send your videos and streams. any great video keep it up man, I love the work
You mentioned that a salvaged car cannot use the supercharger network, why is this? It might be obvious to a Tesla owner, but I don’t know what’s stopping you from using it
@@ivycomb Holy fuck that’s stupid. If they’re anything like insurance agencies, they’ll scrap it over a minor fender bender, if for no other reason than to get you off their SC network, I bet. As for the windshield, isn’t there some local business that fills in windshield chips? I don’t know if you guys have Safelite in Canada, but they’re a chain of windshield replacement and repair shops, and they’ll even come to you. I’ve seen in their commercials that they have a device that fills a chip in with some kind of polymer, why can’t you just do that for your Tesla, assuming there’s a company up there that does that?
I think Elon said he made Tesla mainly to slow or stop carbon dioxide. & cuz the car is so expensive, ppl need a reason to buy it, so he just made it really really good xP (not perfect tho obviously) Also Elon says he likes taking negative feedback so gud video ^-^

I say this as someone who knows an owner. DO NOT BUY A TESLA until they are out of the woods. Tesla is not malicious to its customers, it is still an infant company that you can't really rely on unless you have the money they so deparately need to help survive.
I still hate that the more environmentally friendly hydrogen cars are not getting enough attention because people don't understand the long lasting effects of batteries degrading and the high capacity ones being very unfriendly to the environment
