Join us for a return flight from Kodiak Airport to Heitman Lake for a 30 minute flight each way in a fabulous 1940s vintage Grumman Widgeon operated by Harvey Flying Service. Back in the summer of 2007 our video camera man Chris Mak paid a special visit to this operation to film it for JetFlix TV. This is a preview video but you can stream the full 30 minute show at www.jetflix.tv
brings back memories of 1954 working for Link Aviation converting from Ranger to Lycoming engines in Endicott NY. I was 19.
That is an amazing memory! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this upload! I have been flying with Steve when on my 2004 vacation in Alaska and it was an experience of a lifetime :)
See this plane flying around every now and then, sounds amazing
You are lucky! Great to hear it is still earning its keep.
My dad had a Widgeon and when he sold the plane it went to Alaska😎
Lucky your Dad had such an amazing plane!
This is my dream plane, love this aircraft
The Widgeon is pretty rare today. You can see them in Alaska but elsewhere they are slim pickins.
2x Lycoming GO-480 engines
flew in those in 1970 auckland to great barrier island, fun in the small surf, the lost one there, filming over the harbour it sta\lled, speed to lo in a turn
Sad story
Steve H, Is A wonderful pilot, I have flown with him in this plane several times, As a US Coast Guard Marine casualty Investigator' I was allowed to choose the Pilots I would fly with to remote Accident sites, Steve Did not know it, But He & only 2 other Pilots were on my short list,, If these 3 were unavailable I would not fly, The other 2, Roland & Dean... Anyone who knows Flying around Kodiak Alaska,,, Knows these names .... The Best of the Best Bush pilots 4 sure. kodi
Thank you for sharing this very interesting personal insight. One of these years I would like to go up to Alaska to visit the float planes as I was last there in 1996.
