While all of them are far more powerful than he is, for most of the game, they can't exist for long without him to anchor them in the physical world and in many cases, Fujimaru bonds with them in a way perhaps no one ever has before. Ereshkigal had never gone out of her way to help a human before, in fact she swore an oath that she never would, but for Fujimaru she broke that oath. As to being too good to be true, even within the story it is noted that Fujimaru is insanely forgiving, seeing even historical monsters as worth saving & has gone to considerable lengths to save both Ereshkigal & Jeanne d'arc Alter Santa Lily, just to name 2. Plus of course, they mention being the last of a dying breed and well he is the Last Master of a dying humanity. In some story segments (like Lostbelt 1 for example) he and his support staff are the only humans that still exist at all & Fujimaru is the only Master amongst them.
