Great educational video on the effects of your Lyme Disease, and how you worked through it. I contracted Lyme in my mid-40s and suffered through the severe arthritis it brought. Wish I had known more about how a nutritional program could help at the time. I'm 62 now and have been playing disc golf for 2 years. I love your videos, especially the T-Rex suit! Rooting for you!
Been a Raptor Rick fan for about 4 years now and its been a blast watching you compete! Seeing you compete like you are in 2020 makes me SO HYPED! SO GLAD you're in the healing process like you are! Keep it up Champx2!
Was just saying how you are looking healthier than ever at DGLO and how the long term more natural solution is finally starting to come through keep it up bro.... you're killing it!
Really thought the tone of this video was very mature and spot on considering some of misinformation and criticism that you faced. I was someone who was in the anti-Rocky camp after seeing some of the initial reddit posts, but this video has changed my mind and clarified the situation.
Thanks for being open and sharing your story/journey with us. I think it is safe to say everyone is happy Sockibomb is back. We missed the raptor leg, the 110' jump 'putts' and everything else that comes with you being you. Stay healthy and keep fighting. God Bless.
That would be amazing if someone could get your story to Joe Rogan, seems like a topic he'd love and would be so huge for disc golf! Glad you're feeling better Rick!
This is incredible! Having just filmed Ricky at the Hub City Halloween Open we can attest that his energy is nonstop! Great to see Ricky out there playing at such an elite level. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Long story short: After trying antibiotics it is important to eat and sleep better to feel better. Seems simple, but it is great advice. Love to see you on top of your game Ricky!
Thank you Ricky and Drew for putting this video up. I hope everyone here takes this seriously and starts treating themselves to the best of their ability and how they actually deserve.
Ricky, you look a lot healthier now than ever before. I saw you in a tournament a few weeks back and I didn't know that you were on this program and I noticed how much energized and healthier you look. Now I know why. You really did choose the right way to health. True way to health is about supporting the body, not killing the disease.
This is awesome Ricky, thanks so much for sharing all this! Super inspiring and super awesome to see how much you've made a comeback. Thanks Drew too for helping Ricky!!
Thank you for sharing. I'm so happy you're doing well Ricky. I know you're a good dude. I really enjoyed your content off season, and it's great to see you back at the top of your game. Good luck this year.
Dude shares general informational video of his own personal health journey, people still dislike... Haters gonna hate. Happy for you, Man...! Your passion, intensity and focus is great to watch.
Good to hear this worked for you. You're a great competitor and it wouldn't be the same without you in the field. I'm also glad that you caught this early enough to prevent it from becoming a chronic debilitating issue. I've been suffering from chronic lyme for over 30 years... you don't want to go there for sure. You give me motivation to continue to fight on to overcome the disease. Hopefully I will be back out hucking discs soon.
So glad Drew's plan to battle this disease has worked wonders for you Ricky! You look as focused as ever and your game is looking unstoppable. Hoping you get that worlds title this year! All the best!
Ricky has looked really fresh the last few tournaments! I was definitely skeptical when this video started, but I'm convinced Drew isn't fos and scamming ricky--good stuff
So cool dude, didn't know about you but appreciate this story. I had a similar need to change my diet and initially faced a lot of blowback. Tough but glad you persisted and found something that works for you. Will be pulling for you now.
Thanks for sharing this Ricky. My girlfriend is a naturopathic doctor and master of nutrition who often meets skepticism but has lots of successful and happy patients. It’s not easy to keep up that healthy lifestyle so I’m thrilled it worked for you. First, because you’re one of my favorites to watch play, second, you can get the word out about this type treatment. Keep up the great work!
Well good news from the future axeslingger44, now he's walking it back and wishing he took antibiotics from a real doctor from the start... because he's still sick. Eating healthy, exercising, etc does loads for your immune system and all. But how fucked are you guys? Not all doctors are some big pharma rep doing it for the cash, most just want to help people.
I lived in New England, had the full bullseye but never saw the tick, and my body felt like I went a round with Mike Tyson. Fortunately, the antibiotics killed everything and my titers have all been negative since. Glad you made a full recovery! I love watching all your vids and tournaments! Have fun and stay safe! Edit: Stop Slouching in the chair! That has negatively effected my posture over the years!
So happy for you Ricky! You are sooo worth it to be healthy again and this video put a smile on me and a tear in my eye! Lets go Sockibomb, next tournament is yours to win
Wow, sounds like your body was getting into shut down mode. I'm glad Drew reached out to you and offered help. Your friends and family needs a healthy Ricky and the disc golf world needs a healthy and hungry Sockibomb. For the last tournaments I have seen some of the crazy stuff you did in 2017 and 2018 when you ruled the disc golf scene, and I am very happy Sockibomb is back at the top top level. I believe the best is yet to come. Keep on pushing, Ricky. You're an inspiration for many disc golfers, and especially for me. :)
Ricky, you are a true inspiration for people who feel the odds are stacked against them. Great to hear your story and all the good it has done for you.
Ricky, I absolutely love this response. As someone who has been fucked over by western medicine myself (not saying it won’t work for others), I think working on bettering yourself the harder way is just extremely commendable. Wish you well buddy
I am so glad you are coming through this. I am not underestimating how seriously ill you were. Disc golf pro tour is richer for having you, your smile and infectious enthusiasm there each tournament. Full admiration for the discipline in the diet. Are you allowed occasional treats or are they now totally banned?
It’s good to see you active again. I’m very glad you’re doing so much better. It was good to see you back in form and pushing toward the front this last weekend. I look forward to seeing a lot more good tournaments from you. I wish you all the best.
So awesome to see you back Ricky! You're my favorite disc golfer and you inspire me much and I base a lot of my game off of yours. Thank you so much for releasing the video, the recovery you've made is awesome! God Bless you man :D
Hope ppl take ticks more seriously, I get ridiculed often from my phobia of ticks, I'll strip right down if I see ONE on me lol, have b4 during a tourney to my boxers. I think more golfers need to understand the permanent impact they could have on your life. I learned a ton from this so thanks 👍🏼
My mom had RA and I just didn't want to deal with what her doctors were doing to her. When my grandfather died of heart disease I committed to never submitting to American medicine. I found a Chiropractic Internist - Dr. Janice Piro - and this was her approach; heal the body and fix the conditions. I lost almost 40 pounds and got myself back in shape. She's since sold her practice to someone even better, Dr. Kelsey Jackson. They both saved my life. Way to go, Ricky!
I'm really glad you're doing so much better. Seeing you compete and win those last few tournaments has been a joy to watch. It's good to hear from both you and Drew that you don't dismiss medical science and that you have taken antibiotics. Following it up with a change in lifestyle and healthier living can only be beneficial going forward. There were a lot of people on places like reddit that vilified you, based on false information as it turns out. You didn't deserve that. Just know that a lot of your fans were just very worried about you, and only wish you the best. One of my favourite discs is my Raptor Star Destroyer. When I bought it I didn't think I'd have the arm for it, but I wanted one anyway just because I thought it was cool and I'm a fan. It turns out that it actually flies really well, even for my noodle arm. It flies farther than my gstar valkyrie and gives me a bit more control in the wind than my champion tern.
Wow I'm glad I finally got to this video. When I first got into disc golf I thoight I think I like this Ricky dude. Then I heard about how he's "anti medicine" all i had to hear was when he said "i took doxy" and that pretty much cleared it all up. Ricky clearly isn't some whacko non science believing guy. From this video its explained how doxy didn't work for him (which definitely happens), and he looked for an alternative. Everything about his approach just sounded so logical as opposed to his "reddit image"
Big fan, glad to see your back in good health. Did not know you had Lyme disease that sucks but it happens. Nice job at the Great Lakes Open, was watching the highlights. Good luck on your season and keep being awesome.
Best of luck to you Ricky! I saw you briefly in Nokia at The Beast in 2017, I was that young kid who nodded at 12th hole, you were on a practice round I assume and I was competing in the Discmania Combine. It stuck me how you smiled and nodded back, felt like the world to me!
Ricky got a very rough wake-up call that's helped him improve his health lifestyle, and may in some ways be in better shape now than before Lyme. One question is whether the Lyme bug is still there or not. No doubt it's best to get rid of it completely. If it takes an antibiotic to do that, that's what I'd do. It may not be impossible to kill the bug so late in the infection. I see there's a new Stanford treatment, azlocillin, though not on the market yet. Give Drew credit for not discounting "Western medicine"; the "both" approach may be best. And so great to see Ricky back in top form.
Man... I'm really glad you took the time to really explain your journey. I was really worried about you, as the rumors were saying you didn't even try the prescribed medicines. Not that you would ever owe any explanation to me - or anyone. This really just struck me as thoughtful and insightful. The diet ABSOLUTELY effects health in the MOST significant way, without a doubt. So, very awesome you found a professional to help with that, and you got results. I'm just glad you didn't lose sight that medicine remains some of science's greatest achievement's, but in a corporate system you definitely gotta do the research before committing on what really helps cure the issue, and what is a cash grab to JUST treat the symptoms. Stay awesome!
It can be a balancing act for sure. Yes doxy is great but it won’t fix your issues for good and he took it too late for it to have effect it totally. You need to alsobe healthy in totallity which western health advocates for but would rather get money the easy route and doesn’t help you with right away.
Truly inspiring. You look awesome this year Ricky just like I keep tellin everyone ;) We here in Medina are all real proud of your journey and we got your back!
I was eating a bowl of ice cream while watching this...Guess that’s why I miss all those 20’ putts 🤦🏻🤦🏻 all joking aside, It is great to see you healthy!
So glad to see you back to form Ricky! What an incredible story. Our society doesn’t understand how important nutrition is to not only general health but healing as well. Doctors are so quick to give a pill or shot and don’t even address nutrition. Keep it up! Love watching you compete at the highest level!
So glad that you are feeling better. I too suffer from Lyme's disease, and I am a nurse (and a disc golfer). I am happy that this route has worked for you!
Wow! So happy you are feeling great & was open to this big of a lifestyle change in order to get your health back! As you said, world champion mentality. Food & nutrition are so important. I don’t know if anyone would be interested, but maybe you could do a follow up with a day of eating, etc video? Keep killing it🥏⛓💥
Use both! Go see an infectious disease doctor, someone that specializes in this type of medicine. That should be #1. Follow drew too, if you want. Let them work synergistically.
Awesome to hear your story Ricky. Lyme is crazy. Inspiring to hear. People should still make sure to follow a Doctor's advice and take the antibiotics but other treatments are also viable in some situations especially when regular medicine has not worked completely. Bottom line is it is working for you and you look happy and healthy!
It’s best to balance actually eating healthy food and also using the quick fix medications a doctor most of the time will give you. Which is tough to do.
Missed seeing you play at USDGC last year. I'm hoping this year it will be open to the public, you know with the Covid and all. If not good luck there. It is amazing , in a bad way that something so small can bring down a big guy such as yourself. Stay well, and eat a peach.
That is really cool that you shared this to the public. So glad you are feeling better and it's great to see you doing what you love again. You are a true champion! God bless
Innova needs to hire this man for the entire team! Worse case have him work with the players to find a diet and supplements that can be managed on the road and reassess if its not working or every 6months or something. It's silly to see how far behind disc golf companies are with support structures for their players. I don't understand how they don't have an on the road general manager getting the players everything they need for each tournament, physical trainer/therapist to make sure players are in shape and healthy or even stretched out before a round, sports psychologist for mental preparation and focus while dealing with so much pressure. Let the players focus on what they do best, be the best. Players should have the backing and support from their orgs, and it's only more beneficial for them to elevate their players to their peak. Plus being a touring support line to the pros seems like the best kind of job anyways. You can hire me(seriously i would love to work with innova and support the pros, like most people would lol). I would even go into the rough and find discs to keep the pros from getting ticks in the 1st place or now risking covid over the players health. Anyways Glad to see Ricky is back at it! That was a worrying tyme. Let's make it a 3x Pig this year =D
Hey Ricky have you thought about doing a video on some of your favorite healthy meals/ snacks to eat whether on the road or at home? Would be cool to see some recipes or some of your favorite things. Glad you are feeling great, keep winning tournaments!
yes i was at worlds last yr.i got your autograph, watched you at morton gold's.i met your dad at eureka,we was talking when you walked up and took the band-aid off your finger.omg your finger was totally infected.
Your the goat 🐐 Ricky love playing the game and def your my favorite man you inspire me for sure love hearing your story I live right by Idlewild so wish I could be there but best of luck brotha do your thing and get that W
This is really cool to hear and we're all glad that you are feeling as well as you are. Plus, if you keep competing the way you have been lately, maybe other pros will start asking you for diet tips!
Highly recommend that disc golfers listen to the Patient Zero podcast, which was produced by a team at NPR. The first season is all about lyme disease. Was really interesting produced really well.
Today during a tournament a card mate noticed a tick on my neck. Several hours later when I arrived home it unattached itself and I caught it and flushed it. Now after doing research I wish I kept it for testing. I also read that when they are done feeding and transmitting bacteria that they release themselves. Any recommendations on what I should do in the first 72 hours? I live in Clearwater fl.
Thanks, Ricky! That's really informative. I'm currently in the middle of Lyme disease, just finished Doxy treatment, but seems that it didn't help. I'm now looking for alternative solutions, because the situation has become worse. Any precise tips on the food menu?
No processed carbs: Bread, fried foods, candy, white sugar, sodas, anything with high fructose corn syrup! Eat ripe fruit & veg, quality, grassfed meats, and start fasting! Repent & seek Jesus! He is the bread of Life, only bread you need!
Thats some big league chair slouching going on there, Ricky!
Best of luck for the rest of the season and stay well.
He was conserving energy to slay at DGLO
One of my first thoughts. Hahaha

Long story short: After trying antibiotics it is important to eat and sleep better to feel better. Seems simple, but it is great advice. Love to see you on top of your game Ricky!
Yes, and definitely after doxy all of that stuff is fine. Stay as healthy as possible.
Good work this past weekend man! You are the goat of disc golf! Hope to meet you someday.

Haters gonna hate. What you're doing is obviously working. You are playing better than ever. Keep it up bro 🤙
I am so glad you are coming through this. I am not underestimating how seriously ill you were. Disc golf pro tour is richer for having you, your smile and infectious enthusiasm there each tournament. Full admiration for the discipline in the diet. Are you allowed occasional treats or are they now totally banned?
Thanks for giving us a right-from-the-source rundown. Glad to hear you're feeling better!
Yes that’s the best way for me to get the information to you guys.
I came for slick Rick, but stayed for that sweeeeeet Telly on the wall
It’s good to see you active again. I’m very glad you’re doing so much better. It was good to see you back in form and pushing toward the front this last weekend. I look forward to seeing a lot more good tournaments from you. I wish you all the best.

Glad to have you back Ricky! Good luck with the rest of the season
Great to see you healthy Rick. Good to see you hooked up the Dr with a Sockibomb belt.

More Farms not Pharms....wonderful.testimony ...truly was a God send that Drew reached out to you
Big fan, glad to see your back in good health. Did not know you had Lyme disease that sucks but it happens. Nice job at the Great Lakes Open, was watching the highlights. Good luck on your season and keep being awesome.
Thanks for the support man it’s a great feeling to be back to 100%
Wow rick! Thanks for sharing all this knowledge with us. We’re glad your back.
Thanks so much for worrying I know people where worried about me and my career as was I so thankful I have so many people like you looking out 🙏
It can be a balancing act for sure. Yes doxy is great but it won’t fix your issues for good and he took it too late for it to have effect it totally. You need to alsobe healthy in totallity which western health advocates for but would rather get money the easy route and doesn’t help you with right away.
find someone that looks at you the way ricky looks at drew. in all seriousness, glad youre back and healthy man.
That’s sooo funny!! But soo true he is my mentor/idol through all this and I’m so thankful for that.
looking good and playing good Rick. God speed man
That had to be scary as hell at it's worst...glad you have gotten help and are back at or near the top of your game. Best wishes moving forward Ricky.
great to see you back. Can you give any details about supplementation?
True professional right here great job Ricky keep up the hard work and great play thank you for all you do for the sport
What a journey. Never give up. Never give in.
Good for you, Ricky... definitely enjoy seeing you compete
ricky this video made me a fan
Truly inspiring. You look awesome this year Ricky just like I keep tellin everyone ;) We here in Medina are all real proud of your journey and we got your back!
You are unstoppable Rick. Happy to see you out there.
Glad to have you back in action with full 💪
Great job at DGLO Ricky! We know the sockibomb is back keep pushing! We have your back!
You’re awesome Rick! Hope to see that 3 time destroyer out from you soon!!
Yes looks like we will have to wait until 2021 😜
I hadn't heard how bad it was. That is truly a scary story. So glad to hear that things worked out so well.
And by the way, you looked better than ever last weekend! Keep it up!
You've got some fight, dude! It's inspiring for the rest of us battling health issues on a daily basis.
HE’s BACK! Ricky 2.0 is even better!
Rooting for ya Ricky! Love that Champion Mindset being applied to your nutrition
Good luck at Idle Wild!
Glad you are healthy and back Rick.....thx for the details
Wow! So happy you are feeling great & was open to this big of a lifestyle change in order to get your health back! As you said, world champion mentality. Food & nutrition are so important. I don’t know if anyone would be interested, but maybe you could do a follow up with a day of eating, etc video? Keep killing it🥏⛓💥
I have Lyme, what supplements do you take Rick?
Damn... I really hope you can still return to Estonia in the future! All the best for you!
Well watching you in the last couple tournaments it's definitely shown. You look fantastic out there man.
Thanks for this video. I'm so glad you are doing better and your play at tobaggan was fantastic
Not a bad idea Disc golf is growing and it’s a huge advantge to be healthy and have a whole team of played healthy for that matter.
Awesome video and great help u had here , wow and u won last weekend. U can see it . Now after this video, u were on target.
Hey Ricky have you thought about doing a video on some of your favorite healthy meals/ snacks to eat whether on the road or at home? Would be cool to see some recipes or some of your favorite things. Glad you are feeling great, keep winning tournaments!

Good stuff Rick thanks for sharing this
Congratulations on the win bro. I always wondered tho since you are from Ohio, are you an Ohio state fan?
🤮
Love to see you up there competing again. Lyme disease is nasty. I live in Northern Europe, most of us takes vaccine (every year).
You are the greatest
Thanks for Sharing Ricky, You have given me some insight into my own issues, Glad your Better, it shows on tour!
I recently started the same type of diet. MY GOSH ORGANIC food is expensive. Tripled my grocery bill
great video Ricky is the peoples champ!!
It's so simple but people have lost track of it, good food, good rest, and exercise are the best medicines.
The question is how many blame the tick shirts did Paul and Brodie send you?
Today during a tournament a card mate noticed a tick on my neck. Several hours later when I arrived home it unattached itself and I caught it and flushed it. Now after doing research I wish I kept it for testing. I also read that when they are done feeding and transmitting bacteria that they release themselves. Any recommendations on what I should do in the first 72 hours? I live in Clearwater fl.
Is the paint color in that office hallway a joke. Lol.
Glad you are well, and greatful to get to watch you on top card coverages again.
God is good. I think we are all happy that you are doing great now.
Thanks, Ricky! That's really informative. I'm currently in the middle of Lyme disease, just finished Doxy treatment, but seems that it didn't help. I'm now looking for alternative solutions, because the situation has become worse. Any precise tips on the food menu?
