Here is my second SABA Freiburg 14 aka Continental 410US, made in 1963. SABA stands for Schwarzwälder Apparatebau Anstalt August Schwer und Söhne, and is located in the Black Forest town of Villingen in Germany. It is Germany's most inventive and leading radio manufacturer from the 1950's and 60's, that is the time of the "Deutsches Wirtschaftswunder", the German Economic Miracle. SABA was the perfect example of a well-kept family enterprise, owned and run by the Schwer family - up to the late 1960's, when the Schwers started to sell their shares. The love-hate relationship of Johanna Schwer, her daughter Margarethe Scherb and her grandsons Hans Georg and Hermann Brunner-Schwer with the 3rd Reich was controversial, as described in Hermanns autobiography. SABA outclasses all the AEG, Blaupunkt, Graetz, Grundig, Koerting, Loewe Opta, Nordmende, Schaub-Lorenz, Siemens and others, in particular when it comes to technical sophistication. Saba "Automatic" radios are the most collectible and most expensive sets, because of Saba's famous motorized automatic station scanning and automatic frequency control, created by SABAs chief developer Eugen Leuthold in 1954, that allows remote on/off, mute and volume control, and even remote station tuning and band switching with the optional cable remote RS-125. The Freiburg 14 is SABAs first FM true stereo receiver and its export version 410US has FM extended to 108MHz. It has 5 of the legendary SABA greencone speakers, and mine comes with two stereo decoders, a restored original "Stereo-Rundfunk Einsatz 14" and Cai's high quality PLL decoder, designed for this radio. Mine has also the mostly missing metallized hanging tag with the stylized Black Forest fir, designed by Donald Brun in 1958, and the ledge surrounding the FM scale, with all 16 scale tabs and plexiglass access cover. Last not least it has its unused as-new cable remote RS-125 in its original box. The radio was bought new in Germany in 1963, imported into Canada, but never adapted to North American standards and therefore is unused. I did the conversions and fully serviced the radio. Before continuing and if you understand German you may want first to watch the knitting granny in the 1956 advertising movie "Der legendäre SABA-Film" here on youtube ( • Der legendäre SABA-Film ).
While Hermann lived in Villa 1, Hans Georg and his wife Marlies lived in Villa 2 on the SABA premises. He was SABAs technical managing director, but in 1968 quit his job to devote himself fully to his hobby of recording music in his "Musikproduktion Schwarzwald" (MPS) studio, that first was located on the 3rd floor of his house. Many celebrities of both, the classical and Jazz music scene came to this studio. Notably the Canadian piano giant Oscar Peterson was visiting each year, and reconfirmed the deep friendship between their two families. You are listening to some of MPS' recorded music, played from my cellphone.
The radio is documented in detail at www.radio-antiks.com/IndexRadi... and is for sale.

You repaired and washed all the mechanical electrical parts and also inside the console from the back box to make all the vintage radios look new zero.
Exactly like the American old technicians do on their youtube channels 415 radio ..
    Wonderful and Best wishes !
