I love reaction ferries. They are such an elegant solution to crossing a river. I have traveled on a couple of them in British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately they cheat on these ferries now. They use an outboard motor to help with the landing and launching from the docks. They do shut off the motor for most of the crossing, but using the motor takes a bit away from the experience.
