King: "Mr. Cricket found your ring!" Queen: "Yay! How did he find it?" *puts it on* King: "It was in the digestive track of a turkey!" Queen: *slowly takes ring off and gives it back to King*
Here in Brazil there are many stories about Mr. Cricket (Grilo). He is wise and clever to fool anyone (even the Devil), even though he is poor and has no education. There is a very funny movie about his adventures.
We have mongolian version of this. Only Good ol' trickster Cricket is A monk called "Cricket Nam-jil" being sent away by their parents to learn knowledge by seeking the temple of monks to only to be found as a magician who can guess anything. At the end it all goes the same by a war chief testing if he is a liar or a real magician, so he did and grabbed a cricket into his hands and made the good ol' Cricket guess the very name he is holding. Now the so lucky Cricket pleaded to the war chief "I was hopping and popping and you've caught me in your palms". I was quite surprised when I heard this.
The morality of that one wasn't very good, but it was an amusing tale all the same. Sometimes it's fun watching someone super clever and super lucky make out good. Being clever is a skill.
I seem to remember a school play my class did years ago that seemed a variant of this, but 3 cooks who stole something were definitely involved and were led into mis-believing the main character could magically deduce criminals.
Actually we have very similar folktale in our country too XD but in that one group of bandits steal king's treasury and king calls this famous psychic man in the country ofc. he wasn't actually, and the man asks king to deliver food to his home and they would get bigger and bigger each time . Initially some lackey comes to spy on him , he says here's the small one then here is the middle one. They get frightened and tell it to boss. Boss goes himself and that was when he receives the biggest meal on his last day so he says : here comes the biggest one. Boss thinks that man is indeed psychic so they just tell him everything and he gets award from king and run away before everything becomes clear.XD
Hahaha! Now that were our version of story came from. Our (very old) movie's titled Nujum Pak Belalang. But instead his name Belalang (Belalang means Cricket by the way), His son is the one name Belalang. Its a long story though so its best if you watch them.
These tales have echoes and copies all over the world. Not a peasant in the wide world can resist a good tale, and a tale that people hadn't heard before was good for a free supper nearly everywhere in the world. So yeah, they got about Time was you could travel the world if you were willing to live simply and tell the people stories they hadn't heard before.
I was going to say something about how “cricket” and “blacksmith” are the same word in Slavic languages and might be the case here as well to make sense of the word play, but then people are talking about this Malaysian tale as well so I guess that theory falls through
I really want all of this hungarian folk tales in romanian. I love them, but its better to listen them in your language because you Know every word...:( In my country they were bloched by KEDD. Im so sad from then,I found this,The originals, but they are better in your language. In my language, there are tales, but are fairy tales, they are very popular, but arent that special. I still hope that one day,I'll see them in my language. Thanks for reading.
to all the people spotting the similarities to king lear, it's aarne-thompson-uther type 923 although it is also pretty much the same as cap o' rushes/donkeyskin/catskin/all kinds of fur which is aarne-thompson-uther type 510
I don't know how to feel about all those stories were lying, cheating, threatening people or killing people is the basis of gaining something. When the character "deserves" it, it makes sense, like a witch that's eating kids, or a dragon that's imprisoning a young maiden. But lying to get money and getting even richer? it doesn't sound like something I would like kids to hear...
You can buy a rusty old sword with only 8 florins, so 300 florins is a nice sum. I guess you could buy a good sword, a shield and a healthy horse with 300 florins.
King: "Mr. Cricket found your ring!"
Queen: "Yay! How did he find it?" *puts it on*
King: "It was in the digestive track of a turkey!"
Queen: *slowly takes ring off and gives it back to King*
Poor bird! He was a scapeturkey.
Jamestown🌎?💞
The moral of the story: You can get out of ANYTHING if you take proficiency in Deception and the Dice Gods smile upon you
In other words be a talented con artist.

Me conta mais. Eu não me lembro de ter ouvido elas
It amused me how frightened the three gentlemen were when the bootmaker spoke to them.
He may not have had a magic book, but he sure had a lucky one!
When you focus all your points on luck and speech
Ha ha ha, so much with word play and happenstance in this tale.
Though he lied for money his family will never go hungry it seems he had good intentions though lying isn't the answer at least the queen didn't die.
But she was weak I tell you, WEAK!
Or the three servants who stole it.
The Queen acted like she was on her death bed because she'd lost her favorite ring. You might say....she's a DRAMA QWEEN. *Dum dum tish*
Gollum can relate to the queen.
Queen: Gets ill for crying for days because she lost her favorite ring.
Me: gets sick from breathing the same air with a friend who’s sick
Moral of the story: Max out your luck and deceit levels to succeed in life.

Not all fairy tales are Aesop's moral goodness. Sometimes they are just meant to be funny to listen
that poor innocent turkey u.u
It's was probably going to be eaten sooner or later, so that just happened faster that it was supposed to x)
All turkeys are prohibited from God's light, no avian is free of sin.
He maxed out his Luck skill :D
Though he got lucky it was still kind of funny. He managed to con a few thieves and scam a scammer and all without effort.
I heard a version of this tale when I was a child.
Say the right stupid thing at the perfect moment and BOOM!
You're a genius & a millionaire
This.
This is why I talk out loud
The boot maker was really lucky
Oh it reminds me of I just lose one of my ring these days
Hope I'll be lucky as Mr. Cricket and find it 😭
Already looked inside a turkey? 😂

Kan. Baru nak ckp
I was about to say that too!
Oh, it's like a Hungarian version of "Dr. Knowall".
This one genuinely funny. I like it!
FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT
Ha, ha, ha!! Crime does pay after all! Should be called Cricket's Eleven!
That poor turkey, it was just enjoying its day, ate a peice of bread, and got chased down by the kings men for the ring
it is something similar to Malaysia's folktales called "Nujum Pak Belalang" (Mr.Cricket the Wise Magician)
Is it Cricket a monk by a chance? Because it also landed in mongolian tales too!
These tales have echoes and copies all over the world. Not a peasant in the wide world can resist a good tale, and a tale that people hadn't heard before was good for a free supper nearly everywhere in the world. So yeah, they got about

Wait, would that mean Mr Cricket is famous back then?
I was going to say something about how “cricket” and “blacksmith” are the same word in Slavic languages and might be the case here as well to make sense of the word play, but then people are talking about this Malaysian tale as well so I guess that theory falls through
Moral of the story, lie, cheat, and swindle! If you give it enough time, it will all work out in the end.
But only if you have to.
It's the origin of the Voynich manuscript.
Jeez man, what'd the turkey ever do to you?
Some guys have all the luck!
The moral of this story is: Crime pays, but only if you're a mix of clever and lucky.
When luck is your best friend. Hahahaha
Oh, this must be a Hungarian version of Doctor Know It All
Many of the great fairy tales are basically versions of something else that got added onto the local cultural framework.
It's like the story of my grandmother "Juan Pusong". Although Juan was asked to marry the King's daughter there. Hahhaha
In Malaysia this folklore titled "Nujum pak belakang"
These stories teach you a lesson .
Can you make more video
Happy new year everyone ❤💕😍may this 2020 bring all the happiness in to your life.. 💕
It is late at night and Idk how I found this and why I am.

Nujum pak belalang!!
So we gonna ignore the fact they served him a peacock
Turkeys are not native to Europe
3:22 Mr. Narrator had a voice crack
In my country we call Pak Belalang (Father's Grasshopper)
How many of these are there? Seems like there are dozens.

Doctor know it all
the father of oz X)
Am I the only one who thinks this story didn't feel complete?
This is God to the rescue. No way by his own ability would he have figured it out.

Not all folk tales are moral stories. Sometimes they are just fun to listen.
Now I know
Astrid
