You forgone very special tip, if power unexpected to drop also with a heat pump , run a Listeria cycle and alter your heat curve so it doesn’t drop below 60c in that period, that way if a prolonged loss you should be able to squeeze 2 or even 3 days out of a full cylinder.
in this case i used fast mode as i wanted it charged as quick as possible. The DP will accept what ever it gets sent, however you can limit it by setting a max charge limit so even if the charger can give more it won’t go over that.
They’re not waterproof, normally when it’s charging they’re not facing upwards. It was just so that I could see the screen. If I leave it outside when it’s charging, I actually have a waterproof cover for it.
I did have an idea where you could couple a large solar farm with truck loads of batteries. That you could rent out however I think the start-up cost would just be way too expensive.
@@JonathanTracey I think people can do without power a lot easier when the sun shines. The rental idea was just a joke. It will not pay for itself unless you overcharge people. You could invite neighbours over for a presentation on solar and batteries when the power goes down in the rest of the street. Nothing works like a real world demo.
I think the rental idea could work, I remember years ago we had a two day power cut and the local army barracks sent out trucks with generators on that parked in the street and then Ran cables into every house. Something similar could work but as you say, it would probably be too expensive just to breakeven.
Similar in concept is ruclips.net/video/kTctVqjhDEw/видео.html I think the idea of being able to use the your EV charger to power devices with large loads makes a lot of sense.
I can’t imagine spending all that money putting in all the infrastructure to protect your own homes personal property and level of comfort, but handing it away to neighbors. I’d probably offer cups of tea and powerbank/phone charges though. I’m obviously waiting for the zombie apocalypse but not a total hardnose. I wonder how a proper prepper would react.
I’m certainly not a pepper, the delta pro is part of my setup but if my neighbours need help, i’m going to help. it reduces my capacity by maybe 10% and could be the difference between them having a hot meal or not
Not the solution I expected. I plan to buy solar with a battery and connect with my in-laws. That way I can give them excess electricity on good days and backup power during blackouts. Net metering is not an attractive solution here. I am in the Philippines. There are frequent blackouts here. The electric companies here don't stimulate net metering, it's a real hassle and expensive to get the approval and double meter.
not sure transfer switches are a thing in the uk, never seen one and when i asked out electrician he shrugged his shoulders and said, never heard of it
will have a look at my solaredge system as it’s not something i’m familiar with. i thought you were talking g about a US type generator hookup, with a manual change over

Thanks JT, another fascinating video, keep them coming. 👍
thank Brian, will try

I run it once a week on a schedule so should be fine. we never get blackouts for more than about 6 hours
If using any external power source it is essential that the grid connection is opened. You may know that but it should be made clear.
grid can be down so long they do t connect it to the grid, easy to play appliances direct to the power station
When you said "Some of our batteries are mobile" I thought you meant the EV's. It's a shame so few seem to have vehicle to load/grid as yet 😞
Have a video in the works on why V2G isn’t coming as fast as we would hope
@@JonathanTracey Well, it's handy that I just subscribed then 😉
I will look forward to it 😀
I am just doing a bit of research so give me a couple of weeks, and thanks for the Sub, I really appreciate it.
Which mode did you use on the Zappi to charge the ECO Delta Pro? Fast or ECO ? Curious how you manage the current into the Delta Pro

Those USB ports don't look waterproof. Did you just place it like that for a good line of sight to the display or is it in the manual?

@@JonathanTraceyThat's what I thought. You may want to start a battery rental service if this happens more often 😂

Not gonna lie, I thought you were going to get a really long extension lead out 😂
To get to nearest family would be about 5 miles

yeah love his videos, hopefully the next gen adaptor/powerstation will support 7.2kw

You're such a nice person David, your neighbours are lucky to be living next door to you x@@JonathanTracey

Are you planning to physically cable the two houses together?
@@JonathanTracey Yes, a cable from the inverter to a transfer switch in the other house.
not sure transfer switches are a thing in the uk, never seen one and when i asked out electrician he shrugged his shoulders and said, never heard of it
@@JonathanTracey If you have a hybrid inverter then the transfer switch is built in. It's often called ATS (automatic transfer switch).
