    I love watching these old bunker shows,I served from '74-84 in the US Army and spent two tours in Germany,These vent systems and old lighting systems are the same as I used both in the US and Germany,They didn't upgrade things much from WW2,We still had "C"rations(field rations) with cigarettes until 1979,Much you see here was still in use then and maintained where I was.

    That was some massive bunker. The varying degrees of decay in this one were very interesting. Cheers.

    The one red/blue around 6:20 is the old packing from a lightbulb (got a few in my collection, never used) :)

    To think of the cost to build these places in the austerity 50's, only to be obsolete within months of going g on line.

    DV on the pipes could possibly be a Drain Valve pipe. or something similar. ( a DWV Drain Waste Vent or similar. is the closest thing )

    always love your video's. what does "ROTOR" stand for????
    regards Graeme

      It seems to be a code name. All the stuff I have read about it does not use ROTOR as an acronym. Some of the radar antennas did rotate though, so maybe that is where the name originated. Best guess I can come up with.

    That looked like a tin of Milo which is a fortified drink. Powdered form is a bit like ovaltine

    At 1806. Looks like a date in pencil on the back of that sink. 5/2/52. Which makes sense as the bunker became operational in 1952.

    Hi folks, that Milo Tin is like a night drink I think, something like Horlicks, I could be wrong with flavour but I recall seeing it on the same shelves. Like a malted type of drink.

    • @j0hnf_uk
      @j0hnf_uk 2 года назад +2

      It's more cocoa based than malt. Widely available in South East Asia. Presumably, a legacy of British occupation.
