- With annual sales of $11.6 billion as of December 2023, Nescafé is Swiss-based food giant Nestlé’s largest coffee segment. Sold in over 180 countries, one in seven cups of coffee consumed worldwide is a Nescafé. Globally about 3 billion cups of coffee are consumed each day and that number is expected to rise. To keep up with demand Nescafé works with over 100,000 farmers and buys more than 13 million bags of green coffee annually. It also has two dozen factories globally. But producers are facing a number of challenges including fluctuating coffee prices and higher labor costs . So how is Nescafé instant produced? CNBC traveled to Vietnam to get a behind the scenes look at Nestle’s operation to find out.

How Nescafé Instant Coffee Is Made
Did Nescafé pay for this video???
So naive...
I hope they didn't. I love how the video mentions that coffee growers live below poverty line, if only nestle could do something crazy like paying them more for the coffee. Nestle does not look good by any means in this video.
"high labor cost". I mean, aren't they basically using slavery for coffeefarming?
Dak Lak Province, which is the largest coffee growing area in Vietnam, is my hometown. In recent year, global climate change has negatively impacted to our lives and our farms. Rain season comes later than usual but with more fog and lower temperature , dry season gets hotter and lasts longer. We have to research new coffee varieties that can withstand harsh environment, but sadly we still have not yet achieved the same high quality as the old varieties, however Nestlé and the Vietnam Government are supporting us to achieve it
sao lại tiết lộ chất lượng đi xuống thế ;v
I love it when you try to pass off paid advertisements as an informative youtube video /s
Yep, and two about Nescafé this month lol
Just curious, should a good RUclips video not mention any of these products?
@@rsybingif they were telling you the truth they’d tell you to by fresh local coffee.
it's called content marketing. a lot of media companies are doing this cause it's more effective than direct ad.
@@9razzler9 doesn't make it moral or right
This is the second upload and an obvious infomercial. I like your product but it's pretty low on my beverage list because I grind my own beans.

it's a different topic of video with the same media and research sources, the other 1st vid is about how instant coffee is starting to get out of fashion in the US
CNBC just got a lifetime supply of Nescafé in their break room 😅
Nah! There must be loads of cash involved or they would have done an infomercial for a company that produces nice real coffee. :-)
Beautiful pictures from Vietnam
Brewed coffee is great for the office or families.
Instant is great for singles.
I’m single and I grind my beans everyday for my morning coffee
No an Espresso machine is best in all those circumstances. Love my home Espresso machine.

You know you're only allowed 2 cups of coffee per day, Right?

I have a coffeebush here in Fl, so far it resisted 32 degrees at night, monsoon rains, extreme heat. Waiting for it to flower. Great video.
I've had Nescafe instant coffee while abroad. I was absolutely amazed that instant coffee could ever be this good. I have been unable to find in the US.
Ethnic food stores usually have the foreign branded instant coffee. Medaglia's or Little's is good too.
I love instant coffee because I can control how much I want it ☕️
So cool, just watched this while drinking Nescafe Gold
Nice aerial, interviews and great pictures. Love Vietnam
love the pics from Vietnam
Great stuff! Mind you most days I grind my own beans but instant has its place too.
Useful information and I love the Vietnam clips.
Liked this video thank you
This a long process of production before it's in the stores for sale it's amazing all the work involved
In Bulgaria, the word for Instant Coffee is called "Neskafe"...
Facts. Most people here just say "get me Neskafe"
Nesfake

Nice. I actually just got onto instant coffee after drinking years of french press, drip, pods, k cups, espressos, etc. While I still love a good slow roasted Americano, I've actually come to appreciate instant coffee with milk. Super convenient, cheap, and works the same to appease my addiction. I like it all, the Trader Joe's stuff, Folder's, Nescafe, various store brands except for Wholefood's 365 instant coffee, that one sucks. Doesn't mix well.
Very nice interviews from Vietnam.
These are TERRIFIC well-done productions. Keep it up, CNBC live!
Very nice video, informative and nice Vietnam camera shots.
I switched to instant, because I don't like " float an egg on coffee" strength, and I find the instant is a perfect always the same taste.
Im a fan cuz i know it really help me manage my headaches with just 1 coffee stick...
I got to eat the red coffee fruit from the tree when they were ripe and it was very tasty too
The subtitles were a big mistake. Mine - and I would think a lot of consumers for this content.- listen to it in the back ground. As soon as you introduced subtitles, I have to look away from what I'm doing to focus on the screen, thus breaking the paradigm. If you look at your metrics, specifically click-off rates and positions, I bet you will find it coincides with the subtitles.
Well said sir.
In Philippines, 3-4 cups a day.
Been using it for years, love it!
Definitely this is a paid piece by Nestle. That being said, I love a good cup of nescafe Classico. Great for what it is, convenient, smooth
Even though instant coffee fell off mostly
They should get to sports sponsorship. I'm in Kenya
Every one stop drinking instant coffee !
Boycutt Nestlé !
nestle doesn't own every instant coffee brand out there.

Wow i think last week they are struggling now they nailed it very biased advertisement for nescafe
Did Nestle buy CNBC?
At board level they are all corporate clones running the same software .
Hi
their instant has a weird but it tastes a little like coco. Im going to buy folgers next to see if its better tho
Gotta have the beans - Mocha Joe
They made a series for Nestle. How is this not reported as sponsored video
Just like any other buisiness the only persons benifit from this are just the labour. The only reason for price increase is increase of pay to the labour charges. Land lords have to pay the labour same salary regardless of how horrible the harvest may be due to factors like bad climate.
Sorry but instant coffee is vile. Freshly ground beans is the only way.
I prefer Tata Coffee from India any day. Specially those grown in Karnataka, Andhra states.

Tata Grand Classic ✅
Buying from nestle is a gamble
What if we help you get everything back?
On one hand Nestlé is struggling to uphold supply in the future. On the other hand they are trying to get new markets hooked on coffee. In the process they are investing billions of dollars. Anyone else sees how backwards that sounds?!
odd, the instant coffee market is dead
Okkk
Nothing beats Nescafé Gold instant cold brew
Nescafé sucks! The organic Safeway brand of instant coffee is the best. Starbucks and Verve instant is pretty good too. Lol dollar tree has better instant coffee than Nescafé seriously tho
umm, maybe....any sort of actual, real, fresh brewed coffee in the world?? take your pick.
(even better if it happens to be beans produced by a non-evil entity...but I digress)
see it was reuploaded
Last week: Dropping a video stating that instant coffee is nearly dead.
After Neslte paid: How instant coffee survives and is beating everyone. 🧑🏫
High labour cost?? I think it's not right
Wow 😢😢😢😢😢
this confirms that the previous video about coffee is a paid advertisment as well

Don’t like to see the children doing illegal labor, Nescafé. Send these countries more money and help these families earn a decent living for their childrens future.
That Nescafé is what Mexicans drink? Actually has a good taste but indie brands too 👌🏽 Coffee ❤
Nescafe is beating everyone harder than Nestlé's CEO is beating everyone at being the most evil person in the world.

i haven't had instant coffee in forever. isn't the taste inferior to drip coffee?
No
Just make your own espresso instead
Don't support Nestlé. Thanks that is all.
Haven't you uploaded this already? What changed? Did nescafe pay for this video?
When you have not told arabica is superior bean in your comparison animation that gave away that this is paid advertisement 😂.. as Nescafé uses robusta
I’m so proud of this video, I’m from Viet Nam
But you never explained how theyre beating other companies
❤❤❤❤❤❤
interesting how instant coffee is made. however, i am not buying nescafe. i.e., i wanted to buy instant coffee "sticks". i checked and compared several brands' packages. ingredient number one on the nescafe package is....corn syrup. while other brands would have creaming powder as first and actually no corn syrup at all.
why would i voluntarily consume corn syrup?
no nescafe for me, thank you.
i'll keep choosing other brands until nescafe starts coming with healthier ingredients than corn syrup. how about just sugar? or, sugar cane? it is much better than corn syrup.
nescafe and other brands also use these aspartame, L-phenylalanine compound, acesulfame K as sweeteners, which aren't healthy either, so just instant coffee is an option for me. but again, other brands. it's difficult to find a good tasting instant coffee and nescafe wasn't for me.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have about 300 hectare coffe tree in indonesia, and i make coffe from my village, but i didnt understand why nescafe is so goos, it taste so good
Anyone india ☕☕☕☕
People drink instant coffee? I thought it was just for non coffee drinkers to keep around in case a friend wanted a cup.
when will people realize that it taste like muddy water. just go for Hario Switch if you want easiest good drip coffee.
The reason why it taste so bad because Nescafe extract everything from the bean while normal coffee only have 20% good things inside of it and leaving behind bitterness and astringency.
I disagree. I get Medagila Instant Espresso, and it isn't bad at all.
Sure it could always be better through other methods. That requires money, and time. Nothing is cheaper, and easier then instant coffee/espresso.
It only has to be good enough.
For now cos soon nobody will by instant coffee

3:25 "80% of coffee farming families live at or below the poverty line" Folks, only buy fair trade coffee and help these families out. Nestle does not pay a fair wage to these farmers. Don't buy coffee from them.
How do we know who is fair who is not? I do not have time to do that kind of research
@@error-mc5xwi"ll tell you this about Nestle . They sold mothers in Africa contaminated baby formula which led to food poisoning cases sky rocketing among small children in Africa . Not only this in Pakistan they literally diverted a river stream direction to it's factory and this led to acute shortage of water to thousands in the near by villages and guess what they started selling their expensive bottled water their for a profit and the people who lived their either had to forcefully buy that or die out of thurst
@@bloodwargaming3662 i do not drink nestle. But i am not sure other brands do any better.
@@error-mc5xw The info is right there at 3:25, dude. You can always google the question. I always do my research when I'm buying most things. Always. It takes 5 minutes to get a grasp on which companies pay fair wages. Often, it's on the packaging.

It's not coffee. It's ultra processed food.
It's processed, but it isn't ultra-processed

There is a coffee shop every 200m, instant coffee has no ground in Vietnam. I drink brewed coffee everyday.
So, what? Instant coffee is disgusting.
aren't you supposed whine and moan about Nestle? people are disappointed in the comment section.

Looks like Nescafe is doubling down on the marketing with paid infotainment. I'm guessing these Nestle sponsored spots are probably meant to re-capture mind share. Too bad their instant coffee sucks and there are much better brands out there with instant coffee that doesn't taste like swill. I'll take Medaglia or Little's any day over Nescafe.
