I enjoyed Captain Marvel well enough but I think it still could've been better.
Maybe it's because I've watched almost everything MCU, but the Tesseract's timeline isn't that hard to follow:
-Odin probably hid the Tesseract on earth.
-The Red Skull found it and used it to make weapons during WWII.
-Howard Stark found it in the ocean while searching for Steve Rogers.
-Through SHIELD and Project Pegasus, the Tesseract found it's way to Mar-Vell in the 90s.
-The events of Captain Marvel took place after that.
-Fastforward around 2010, Fury entrusts the Tesseract to Selvig.
-Afterwards, the events of Avengers and Avengers: Infinity War.
The only thing I think is wrong from the vid is that I'm fairly certain Stark's arc reactor tech has nothing to do with the Tesseract unless I missed something.

Where’s the retcon? There was a gap of seventy odd years in the timeline where the Tesseract was in SHIELD’s possession, and Captain Marvel shows us that it was used in a SHIELD project during the 90’s. What did they change?

There is no retcon, I think she just worded herself imporperly. She says "it may APPEAR as if Marvel is pulling a bit of a retcon here, BUT it all makes sense....etc etc"
So she's just saying that it seems like Marvel is changing things around with captain marvel but the timeline is actually pretty accurate. What we still dont know is how the Tesseract got to earth from Asgard to begin with and how Howard Stark eventually gave the tesseract to Project Pegasus.

From Odin, Red Skull, Howard Stark, Mar-vell (literally in space), Fury and the Avengers, back to Asgard, then finally Thanos. More mysteries will unveil about Reality, Power, Soul, and Time Stones in future Marvel films. The Mind stone has also gone through a lot of history in MCU already as far as we know too.

Everyone is missing one point. Agents of SHIELD. In a flashback to the early 90's a young Hale, a HYDRA leader, mentions to young Von Strucker during a reading by Daniel Whitehall that they can't use the Tesseract for HYDRA's purposes since it would be impossible to take it from SHIELD without them noticing something strange happening. This means that the Tesseract was in SHIELD's possession during the early 1990's.

I don't think Goose puked up the Tesseract back in the 90s, he puked it up during the modern times. I think he had it all this time because of two reasons: 1) the previous credit scene was in modern times when Marvel was asking where Fury was. So it stands to reason the next clip is in the same time frame; 2) Goose is visibly older in the end credits scene.
So somehow, Shield and Fury were able to make or get some sort of clone or fake to take the place of the original Tesseract.

I think Captain Marvel is a decent entry into the MCU. However I do feel the character was not developed properly. We didnt get to see her struggle to get used to her powers. Also, why did she adopt the name captain marvel when she clearly didn't get her powers from the original Mar-vel(like in the comics).
Overall, a decent film with great action , cool characters and funny moments. Brie Larson was great as Carol. Grear to see nick fury , Ronan the accuser and Coulson again .

She was hit by Mar-Vell's lightspeed engine where she got her powers. She had an idea of what her photon blasts could do but her powers have always been taught, surpressed and controlled by Yon-Rogg and Kree manipulation. We did get to see how she learned to fly though, as she was panicking while she dropped from space.

The directors claimed that the energy beam that Thanos shot at Thor was technically a full-powered shot. However, because Thanos had literally JUST completed the gauntlet, he was unable to fully utilize the power due to inexperience with all 6 stones. This is why his blast was unable to stop Stormbreaker. Otherwise, the gauntlet would have easily won because it is, confirmed by the creators of the film, to be the strongest weapon in the universe- even above Stormbreaker.
