I wrote this after getting diagnosed with OCD and coming to terms with my ADHD. It's so easy for me to feel disconnected and afraid, but there's always something reminding me that I am connected and a part of it all, enrooting me.

The solace of the label! I lived with my neurodivergence till I was 32 and then it all became so much too much that I finally had to admit: I'm not just an awkward failed human, there's actually just something wrong with my brain. I got lucky that my health care providers - my doctors, my psychologists and my psychiatrists - gave me the words to understand myself but never wanted to label me. It gave me both the certainty you talk about in your lyrics and the liberty not to be caged by them. But it has helped me understand myself so much better and learn to be so much kinder with myself, and I feel that same kindness in your lyrics. That deeply resonated with me, as well as the question 'was I born this way'.
In some way, having to hide behind something not being your choice or decision doesn't make it any better. In the same way that I've always embraced being queer and bookish and have never felt the need to defend or explain that (a privilege, I know), I've learned to accept my anxious overstimulated mind and the depression that comes with it. It doesn't matter to me whether I made bad decisions or it's some genetic thing, what matters is that like one can keep a garden, one can't rewind the growth and beautiful mess of nature. Some things are choices, some are accidents, some are gifts... and all end up creating the person we are and the life we lead. Which is a good life, at least for me, and I hope for you.
I've been listening to your music since you were a teen recording covers, and there has always been a beautiful vulnerability about your music and your voice that I love and find very soothing. I hope this same vulnerability gives you courage right now, and helps you love all the helpless bits about yourself. You are not a garden, you can't be tamed and your weeds can't be removed completely, and imho that's a great thing. Thank you for sharing!

Alex, Thank you very much for sharing your story. I can relate, even i have a different diagnosis, but my challenges are also with my brain. I ve been living with my symptoms since i was 10 years old (i m 30 now). It hasnt been easy, but for me art has also been important, and i have written poems, and i still do.
