    Who's your favourite Dark Souls II Boss? Let me know down below! And stay tuned, next week we'll be taking a look at Dark Souls II's Area Rankings!

    I think you nailed the placements here, I can't think of a more accurate ranking for ds2. Despite there being too many bosses in this game, I do appreciate that there were a lot of creative decisions. Like mirror knight summoning other players, the pursuer actually following you around, the chariot fight and such.

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  Год назад +4

      Whether you like it or not, DS2 very much has that weird experimental vibe that Demon Souls seemed to go for back in the day. Makes sense why a lot of this game's mechanics ended up making the transition over to Elden Ring.

      @@BillySYT Seeing how oftentimes shitty the ds2 is, I've actually came up with a theory, that initially it was planned to be Demon's souls 2, not Dark souls 2, but the retailers pushed the team to rename and rework it at the last second, hence so many similarities to DeS rather than DS1.

  • @noraslob5461

    Small thing, but you need more than just those 4 to have enough smelter wedges for all of the Natalia statues. There is also one that you get from Sir Alonne. Considering you can only fight Alonne *after* Fume Knight, this means that if you managed to find all the Natalia statues beforehand that are scattered throughout the tower, you will end up still having one statue around to heal Fume Knight. I know this because I recently had to deal with this exact sequence of events on my first playthrough of ds2.

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  Год назад +1

      For some reason, I assumed you could only reach Alonne after beating the Fume Knight. In that case, I retract my statement.

    Two videos in one week! Lucky us!
    As someone else said, I think this is a fantastic ranking video. I agree with pretty much every placement which is rare. I gotta say my favorite fight in DSII is Sihn. I’m a sucker for dragon bosses and he’s one I feel gets underrated consistently in the series, so I’m glad to see you show him some love. Great video as always!

    • @BillySYT

      I get why people might not like Sinh, but I think when you compare him to the other dragons in some of the other games, he stands out really well - Plus that arena is gorgeous. Just get rid of the weapon durability corroding scales & I'd probably have him as a Top Tier Dragon ^^

    My favorite boss in DS2 is tough.... I actually really like the Pursuer. But probably, the best was the Burnt Ivory King. Loved the mechanic of saving the knights to bolster your forces.

  • @featdirty1127
    @featdirty1127 Год назад +2

    I stand by this: the Burnt Ivory King is one of my favourite characters in Souls lore, though I found his fight to be quite easy (I even let him kill the knight first), but the Fume Knight is just as cool lore wise, and personally one of my favourite fights from FromSoft, period.
    Like, he’s just a big, dark knight with an even bigger sword that’s basically an entire freight train, and he swings it like a toy in the second phase

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  Год назад +2

      Burnt Ivory King is one of the only truly good men in Souls Lore. Very Artorias, in the sense that he did what he felt was right, but fell victim to that which he was trying to contain.

  • @Wordweaver166
    @Wordweaver166 11 месяцев назад

    I loved the Burnt Ivory King boss fight so much I wore the ring that prevented soul gain and kept putting down my summoning sign at the bonfire for dozens of bouts. The Legion knights in DS3 are a close second for me, both fights just feel like dances.

  • @chargemeupbois
    @chargemeupbois Год назад +1

    Out of all bosses, I have to say that it was the Burnt Ivory King who gave me the most trouble...but I don't care, he's one of my favorite characters who uses a trope I don't have much affinity to which is "Heroic Person, now Evil".
    He's such an awesome fight as well, working perfectly with Ds2's rather satisfying combat (LOVE PARRYING). His lore makes me appreciate Alsanna much more as she's the only one of the shards to actually become better.
    Anywho, Chad Ivory King is my favorite of the royalty bosses.

  • @bruschetta7711
    @bruschetta7711 Год назад +1

    Sinh is one of my favourite bossfight, mostly because of his amazing soundtrack, it's unique, strong with different tones and gives the feeling of fighting a great and important entity its lore is also fantastic, because it explain the origin of the ring that depicts him, he is also strong despite a huge fucking spear inside of him

    I know this video is months old but I got some things to say, firstly that I completely agree with your take on the Pursuer. I remember calling him my "nemesis" when I first played the original Dark Souls 2 years ago. It was such a roadblock but now he is piss easy, and yet I still love the boss, it is very fun even if easy.
    I have to agree with Raime and Alonne, they are pretty much my reason why the Iron Crown DLC is my favourite of the 3 DLCs, despite its flaws. I always have to fight them because my character ideas need either a piece of their armor or their weapons, funnily enough. I think I like them both equally, from a lore perspective and a combat one. Both bosses are very fun fights! And I love their characters and designs.
    And just a little nitpick, I think Alonne's departure rather than being the reason of OIK's corruption, the corruption was the reason of his departure. I don't want to bore you with me explaining WHY I think this but still.
    In any case, great video! Once again, I agree with a lot of opinions here and I really like how you give your thoughts and narrate. And how relatable some of your moments are fufbudjdidnek

    The Chad King is my top boss in the whole franchise along Sister Friede, the king for lore, arena, presentation and climax, Friede for pure gameplay and fight and difficulty aspects, people clamors Gael's name, but that gnome didn't really make me feel pretty much anything compared to the climatic fight of Eleum Loyce.

    Feel like they could have gone even further with the Pursuer. Make it clear it's the same one. Despite losing his soul, he still keeps chasing you and if you choose to beat him at each encounter something changes during the next.
    Gets his dark abilities. A new addition to his moveset. Appears more worn down. All ending in a final optional encounter in a late game area where his initial encounter and his final encounter are night and day by comparison.

      It's a great game on it's own. I just think it suffers a bit when compared to the other souls games because it plays so differently from them. There are quite a few small decisions they make a dislike that tend to add up into major nitpicks.
      But even then, was my first Souls game, so I give it grief out of love.

    I actually like Elana, i think it's one of the best fights in DS2, probably 4th.
    I think the summons are well handled, especially Velstadt, who i think works better as part of a duo fight than when you fight him alone.
    Even the skeletons aren't that bad, also she has a well put together moveset and offers much more strategy than 90% bosses in the game.
    Fume Knight, Sir Alonne and Darklurker are my top 3 tho.
    My unpopular opinion is that I kinda hate Burnt Ivory King because it commits the cardinal sin of wasting my time, like why do i have to fight against the ivory knights for 3 minutes every time i want to fight the boss? This is made even worse in SL1 where this part of the fight was even tougher than the actual fight against the king.

    I don't particularly like any of the bosses in Dark Souls 2, but that's largely because I don't really like Dark Souls 2 as a whole.
    Some of the aesthetics are perfectly fine, like the Old Chaos arena, or the Looking Glass Knight, but I just don't really have much good to say about anything in the game so I'd be hard-pressed to praise any of the bosses for anything. Yet despite all of that, I do find DS2 pretty fun to watch other people play, who could've guessed.

    • @Sephirothkingdom782
      @Sephirothkingdom782 Год назад

      I think that’s just being ignorant for the sake of being ignorant, it’s like hiveminded mindset to jump onto the ds2 hate bandwagon and i don’t really understand why. Ds1 has less flaws than ds2 but it has far more fatal flaws such as bed of chaos and lost izalith, but I don’t see a single person talking about them.
      I don’t mean any offense to you btw but I just don’t like how people ignore and act like there’s absolutely nothing good about the game, when it has some of the most visually stunning areas in the trilogy and 3 great dlcs despite the game’s mechanical limitations, and having the only soulsborne area that made bows useful (shulva), alongside almost every dlc boss being good besides the completely optional ones. Sir alonne is legitimately phenomenal with a fantastic soundtrack, which is something that most ds2 bosses are missing
