@@meznewton5373 I believe it has to do with our instinct to pursue what is "wrong". Somehow we find it more appealing to do things in the selfish/wrong way than following a "right path". It's a very honest song, very deep. Also, it portraits a couple which the lover is talking to the person in the relationship who's cheating their "other mean".

It's 2018.. In the era of EDMs, Hip-hop, rap and all, here I am still listening to this almost 5 year old song on repeat.
Hozier is really an artist. No other artist has been so expressive in the past decade.
His Meaningful lyrics, overwhelming music and above all, soul touching voice are really artistic and exceptional.
His songs will always be one of the best in the playlists.

When you listen to the song you think its about a girl but in the video it focuses more on the little boy
Ellie Peachey the song's about love, and everything it entails, how it's kinda wreathed in magic and its fulfilling and pure but it's wrong at the same time and it always falls apart and how all the virtues that are a romanticised extension of it are gone. But it's also about like, being tempted and jealous and how when love feels so wrong like it's a crime, because sometimes it kinda is, like cheating. Except Hozier phrases it like he's the snake from the garden of Eden, tearing eve from Adam and whisking her away.
The video makes the whole "love is a crime" more blatant and moves away from the kinda subtle temptation and familiarity that a person can find in someone else. It's kinda trying just to show that nothing gold can stay.
It's all pretty depressing but it hits the right notes and is a kinda wonderful song
