    To save a lot of work just take a long flat screwdriver and push the fuel filter boot to the left off the bracket and lift up the filter.
    No need to do all that extra work from the side cover.

    I like your videos. I have a 2002 venture. Getting ready to do a carburetor rebuild. Have you ever done anything with the carburetors. Thank you

      Thanks for the support. I haven’t had the carburetors out of this bike. I have synced them and adjusted the pilots.

    What is your plastic stock filter getting soft ??I have a Moto Guzzi norge, The online owners club reports methanol in the gasoline attacks the plastic of some filters, like the ones on my Norge. The filter was a bit mushy/soft. They gave a part number of a NAPA metal filter that is unaffected by methanol. That filter is much larger than the one on my royal star venture, which is fuel injected, and mounted inside the fuel tank with the fuel pump, as bad as it sounds it was very easy to change the filter..
    A little sidenote, I had a GL 1800 Goldwing that I did a major service on. Air filter which took five hours, and I am an ex-mechanic and I am not slow. I upgraded the suspension but changing the fork springs and rear shock spring, they took two days. You have to remove everything including the fuel tank which is behind the engine, in front of the rear wheel just to get to the top bolt of the shock..
    But one note about the GL 1800 fuel filter. There isn’t one. They have no fuel filter on the Goldwing GL 1800. No wonder I couldn’t find it, or any literature or any articles on the Internet

      The old filter wasn't mushy, but it was pretty gunked up. When I bought the RSV, I was originally looking for a gold wing, but couldn't find anything in my budget range. I'm glad I ended up with the venture instead.

      Gold wings are absolutely perfect. They do everything perfectly. They have reverse, they have a center stand, they are fuel injected, there are millions of aftermarket trinkets you can adorn them with.. they are absolutely the smoothest motorcycle out there. They never break down…But……. they have no soul, no personality. It’s like owning a toaster.. like dating Jessica Simpson. She has all the equipment and looks but the mind of a 60s flower child.. I found My Goldwing to be boring, it just didn’t look or sound or feel like a motorcycle I wanted to ride..wings are quite a gas hog. 33 miles to the gallon. I have had three ventures and all of them got around 45 to 48 miles to the gallon. That adds up with todays fuel prices..if you like to do your own maintenance,you can work on a venture yourself, you don’t have to marry the dealer like you have to with todays BMWs( had a k1300LT.. my first and last BMW…I will never go out on that limb again- dont get me started on all the flaws that machine had)..
      I could go on and on about how perfect gold wings are and how much they appear to be better than the ventures, but what does better mean? I know from personal experience that the ventures are much much easier to work on. The ride is roomier & plusher on a venture.. ventures are just as reliable. They look like a motorcycle.. they feel like a motorcycle..not a space ship..
      There are people that have to have the latest self parking Lexus. Then there are those of us that would Prefer a loaded 1959 Cadillac convertible..

    Have a 07 with 39,000 miles never replaced fuel filter seems to be running OK wish they could’ve made that easier to get to !
    Did you replace yours just for routine maintenance or was it running rough ? Not sure if I’m gonna tackle it yet but thanks for your video

      I haven't done mine yet, but from reading on the forums it looks like you would want to plan for a full weekend.

    Would that cause mine to backfire alot the fuel filter??😢

    • @RotorKev
      @RotorKev  23 дня назад +1

      @@riding2nowhere No, it’s probably an exhaust leak or possibly the AIS. I have a video on the AIS, it’s pretty easy to plug it, as a means of troubleshooting.

      @RotorKev I did that once before I had the carburetors rebuilt. Maybe I should do it again. 2004 Yamaha Royal Star Venture 1300
