A sense of "small town" Distinct, not like perhaps North Bay. An Ontario small town. Different buildings appropriate to a small town. When we encountered Gerrard St E, I immediately wondered how far west to Little India. My visits give me a certain focus.
Sehr interessant, Herr Ken! About 20 years back, I booked a room on Kingston Road. Probably a bit east of where you started! And I remember boarding a bus that took me to downtown Toronto to do things like attend TIFF! So the part you walked are probably what the bus went through. I also road a bus from Yonge and Iglington (Stridesland) to get back close to my room. So I walked from there at night down to Kingston Road in Scarborough. At that time, I saw more of what was north. Been a very long time, but I did have a history with the road.
I liked this neighborhood. I used to spend a lot of time between Providence and Boston before I moved to Vermont, and this neighborhood reminds me of the Brookline part of Boston. I've been to NYC a fair amount of times as well, and I think overall, from what I've seen in your walks, Toronto reminds me most of Boston. Thanks for exploring the Upper Beaches.
Hey Ken this was great I really like seeing all the different areas you do a awesome job happy Sunday & to everyone who sees this message take care & enjoy your day 😊
Another nice walk around Toronto along Kingston Road and seeing this area of the city from Scarborough looking at the houses and buildings as well as the local stores and other businesses have a nice week and thank ya Ken.☕🌆🇨🇦
Pape Village was one of my videos in the past. It also was "different" I mean, honestly, how many times can one trudge down Yonge or along Dundas to the square? Over time, it takes struggle to make the mobs on Yonge street "interesting" 6 years of walking down Yonge street? So the eastern border is fresh stuff.
We used to live on Kingston Rd. Near the cemetery. Don't miss the street car and the termites. I took my drivers ed near Kingston Rd. and Main and got coffee at the long and gone Dip 'n Sip Donuts. They filmed Kick Ass there.
Love the white building with shops underneath a beautiful effect in the area hopefully they will do the same on the other side of the torn down war time homes, huge difference. Wide and low much nicer. Urban indeed.
Yeh, it would totally be nice for architects to salute the heritage, not make more "ticky tacky" offices or apartments. I love that line "this is heritage so they won't demolish it". Oh that must torture this generation of builders. "Heritage, I hate that word"
Hi Ken, awesome live video walk on a clear day. I enjoyed it. How is your weekend going? My weekend is going well. My cat Benjamin says hi to you he's doing well also. Have a good night see you next video ❤😊
My mom bought a semi-detached house by the Coco Cola signs 50 odd years ago for $35k. Now every house in the neighbourhood hood is worth north of 1 mill. The real Beaches is south of Queen Street. But it keeps getting pushed further up north, to sell real-state.
Ideally people should try to save homes before tearing them down. Think mid rise buildings in upper beaches are better than high rise buildings - can see more sky. (A building at 500 Queen St. W. is for sale, a super old building that needs repairs - sale should be conditional on restoration of original building features. Building is part of the QW charm, but recent years in disrepair).
Stay classy, you Sons of Upper Beaches Worth mentioning Kenny My Boy, there is a new player in the TO tubewalking scene called "tshots" (Toronto Shods) and she is a tubewalk giant killer with a trajectory to the moon! Will she take the gold medal away from My Walk Around? Time will tell.
Love the old school signs on the variety stores, hey ken, weather looks good

Yeah, I'm a fan of those old variety stores signs!

Just another great video Ken! I am partial to the east side of Toronto.

That scene with the big fight, I remember it well.

All the new mid-rise density fits in well in this area.

Thanks, & hello!
I live just east of this area in Cliffside, lol.
its a nice area near the upper beaches
some of the buildings remind me of apartment building i have seen in downtown syracuse except they might be a little bigger then the syracuse ones are

Good!

Homes were also built better 50 years ago. Now homes are made with match sticks.
@@trh4982 Yes, builders made solid homes using good workmanship, people who took pride in their work, they didn't hurry and try to cut corners.
Do you get home sick when you leave the downtown core?
haha Sometimes
it could use a little love and care its not to bad looking it needs new windows i wish they would not tear it down it looks pretty old
