Julian is such a class act... he’s not out here like other musicians who just show off on Instagram. He genuinely enjoys playing and has a great work ethic and musical integrity.
Julian exists outside of the normal time-space-music continuum, in his own Universe of delight. I always feel humbled and grateful to hear him play, even though I am a base rogue and barely comprehend enough to fully appreciate him.
I don't think I've spent a better six and a half minutes of my life than listening to and watching Julian play Beatrice. Some say the glory of human beings is that, in our minds, the universe became conscious of itself. Nay, my friends, I say the universe finally realized transcendent musical grace and perfection through the form and expression of Julian Lage. That is the ultimate purpose of humanity. Consummatum est! ~white dove flutters towards the heavens from Roy Batty's dying hands~
What a beautiful way to end the day! A free concert by one of my favorite g-players. Thank you so much Julian. Peace, Health and Love to you, from Zanzibar.
Thank you Julian for another heartfelt performance and your generosity during this crazy time we live in. Chanting was so spiritual - it hit me hard! You’re all about the music that’s for sure. Your spirit shines thru every time! 40’s has always been one of my favorites and Emily was priceless! Peace.
It never ceases to amuse myself, the poetry of your songs and how your presence transcends. I am thankful not Just for your music but above all for your simplicity of your spirity.
Your contrapuntal playing is pretty much unique to you, at least to the degree you use it. Combine that with your masterful use of harmony and jazz ideas, thank you for sharing what I will never experience doing.
Love that bright and emotive guitar tone that captivates me as a guitarist especially since you use it to passionate sound a melody that's so expressive!
Beautiful, beautiful music my friend. It was an honor to see you live last week! So humbled! My favorite jazz show ever! Much love! Keep up the amazing work. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
He reminds me personally of the Indian musician U Srinivas who played the electric mandolin, in how both of them make you instantly forget the instrument and get lost in the music
Julian, are there officially published versions of your compositions? I bought PDFs of "World's Fair" several years back, but I don't know that they were legit or if they infringe on your IP. My last pre-covid concert was early March 2020 at Crooners near Minneapolis. You and Dave King as a duo. It was amazing! Beyond words. Can't wait to have you back in Mpls, in Oct 2021. Finally, yeah, this 470-JL sounds great acoustically. Really comes through at this low amp volume. Whelp. I know you've got better things to do that read and reply to the RUclips comments, but thanks so much for all you bring to the world of guitar. You really are an inspiration to me and so many others.
I can't believe I'm watching this for free. Thank you julian
It's actually taxation.
@Michelle Louise Davis absolutely, this is beautiful and many, me including would be willing to pay to see this live
@Michelle Louise Davis hahahaha are you okay?
@Michelle Louise Davis who in your elevated opinion would be worth paying to see?
ITS how you show jazz lovers what real jazz is.
Wrong !! this is not in the tradition of jazz music. This is Julian Lage just making shit up.
Man I’m on shrooms right now and you are amazing. You just play what you want on the guitar and it’s awesome. Have a great one!
hahahaha hell yeah
amazing choice of trip listening bruh
Man, it's like what the guitar wants like that was the plan all along
I need some mushrooms. 😂
Not only is this guy a master of the instrument, but he is so respectful and humble as a person. I'm a huge fan.
Saw him in Reggio Emilia, Italy, few years ago.
I am a huge fan, too.
But...
No autographs.
No contact with the audience..
Not so humble..

More of this please Julian. What a privilege and joy to watch this master live .
Agreed!
Totally agree, Julian playing unaccompanied jazz guitar is so great
Incredible show! Saw em last week and it blew my mind. I’ve seen so many shows and it was my favorite guitar work by far 👌🏼
A poet like no other, takes me up in the sky and lets me fly with an eternal smile.

Julian Lage is the best guitar player of the world (Jim Hall introducing JL at Blue Note, NYC).
What a freedom he enjoys in wandering through the universe of sound and melody.
The chromatic climbing sequence in Beatrice from 10:30 is beaaaautiful :) Amazing version
The man is a genius. Plain and simple.
Julian's music and playing reflects his personality, simply beautiful.
The comments section mirrors the joy of the music. How truly heart warming.
I've find comfort in your music this lasts months that have been very tough for me. Thank you.

Julian playing solo is just about my favourite musical thing.
Maestro. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I can’t wait to watch this again (properly!) later.

That rendition of 40s is magical...keeps the nostalgia of the original but pushes the dynamics and energy off the charts. So good!
Thank you very much, Julian. Googolplex of likes. Stay safe, stay well.
The way you feel the music man, I’ve never seen another player be so deep in it
걍 한글로 써야지 ㅋㅋ 줄리안 라지 너무 멋있임~~매일 매일 듣고 보고 귀호강 눈호강 하고 았음^^
With North Sea Jazz cancelled for another year, we are fortunate to have Julian drop fresh things!

Better practice, my fellow guitarists. This masterful playing is the goal, and the Gold Standard.
I love new guitar signatur but the tone you have whith the single coil was so Much original and logical with your playing (personal point of view)
And what a style you have with a telecaster
Lovely to hear the worlds fair stuff revisited, especially on that Collings. All the best from New Zealand!
And LOVE This Guitar 🌈 Beautiful
Amazing Sir! Best regards from Portugal
Thanks, Maestro.

sometime they will say, we had da Vinci and 600 years later we had Julian Lage.
The note he plays on 6:43.53 I play exactly like him.
Great listening. Wonderful Playing!
