I close my eyes and I go back to my younger days, when I would walk the bylanes of Girgaum from Thakurdwar to catch a train at Charni road every evening. Once off the hustle and bustle of the main roads, the inner lanes were a completely different world. Amongst the chirping of birds returning to their nests for the night, and pressure cooker whistling, the wafts of Rag Yaman Kalyan and Bhimpalas created a strange calming ambience. I never figured out where the sounds came from, but as soon as I heard this piece, I was transported back to the early 1990s. Incidentally in those days, I used to work as a fresh engineer in an engineering firm where Dr. Arun Dravid was the MD.

Lovely structure of Raag Bheempalasi and Gaan Saraswati Kishori Amonkar's Shruti based swar given to the structure is mismarising in true sense of the term. An enchanting performance. Modulation of notes is seducing the listeners.
Very early Kishori - an interesting listen particularly if one considers the Bhimpalasi in her Born to Sing CD - from this to that. The photographs are a delight to see. Cheers ! A request please ! Any chance you have a recording of Rag Khem ?
Yes, I have at least half a dozen Khem recordings from many concerts. The best of them is in the queue. Wait patiently. Sangeetveda1 in his advanced age will do no more than one per day!
