This kid is one hell of a mechanic..... Not too many people would have that engine start on the second or third crank.Congrats...good work
If you can rig up one you can rig up any on a cat. Wouldn’t say he’s a hell of a mechanic. Just very consistent at one thing
@@tobywolf8639 Give credit where credit is due. He's one hell of a mechanic.
@Toby Wolf No matter what HE ISONE HELL OF A MECHANIC.......
@@tobywolf8639 you must be new around here, give his other videos a watch.
Some people just cant stand complements... thats a gorgeous build and he’s funny to watch and obviously good at what he does with no self aggrandizing needed. Keep it up brother!

And he's hot. But the shirt never comes off which is a little disappointing.
@@johnrauner2515 wtf
Self taught is about it
The only thing wrong with your content is there is never enough of it.
Yeah
That’s almost a good problem lol
@@johnhardasnails7464 hell that’s a bad problem
He actually has to work for a living . Still love what he puts up though.
@@ictdpowerstroke4591 Quality over quantity is the bestest problem that ever was.
Perhaps I'm odd, but there is something really satisfying about watching oil get poured into a new engine. :)
Mmmm pancakes
Imagine it getting poured all over yourself 😂
Something's satisfying about hearing one run too.
@@pettttson I've come close. One day was helping a guy repair a hydraulic system and ended up getting showered in hydraulic fluid...
@@baileycoalson3231 Completely agree!
I am old enough to be your grandfather, and I take my hat off to you. I have supported a number of young people who took their own paths, some with success, others not so much so. It would be naive for everyone to think they can follow in your footsteps. You obviously have an unusual talent for what you do and if not unique, it is quite unusual. Many young people try to teach themselves a trade and wind up making a mess of things or becoming a hack.
If I lived in the states, I would buy one of these just to have you rebuild it for me to YOUR standards, just so I could run it and hear the sweet sound they make !! Your craftsmanship is truly outstanding !!
This young man is a helluva technician with an incredible attention to details. I was not expecting to hear that he was self-taught with NO formal training whatsoever. Huge props man! Love the channel, just wish you showed more of the actual assembly processes.
Trial by fire is usually the one you want working on your anything, mechanical, electrical, household or anything else. I've seen more failure on test drive, came apart or straight fell out and issues that no one can seem to figure out or find caused from following "the book" "the instructions" or "the contract".
Most people that are self taught are normally the best people
Been my experience the self taught mechanics are the best ones.

I worked at Caterpillar. Started in the shop. Moved through various positions and spent 16 years in the Engine Division. Worked on the 3208/3406 rod lines. Made the first 3406 rods for the tech center. Very high tolerances on them. Became a supervisor eventually. Worked closely with the assembly lines. Amazing engines.
I can relate to this guy and his honesty!
“getting ready to clean the blue shit off this cam “!!!!!! Couldn’t have said it any better!
Lol I chuckled at that, we call it smurf g!zz and cat gets a little carried away with it on their reman components.
He took the words right out of my mouth!!!
i think its called layout die... it could be ground away to show hi-lo-spots..the part was totally coated with it, so its fair to say they were checking the part for size, runount, trueness, with witness marks it reveals
@@seekingtko3146 I believe it was grease to keep it from rusting, lay out die is a thin liquid that would dry.
@@Ihbinder14 I can confirm it is grease. I work for a CAT dealer and we get parts in like that all the time. You can't NOT get it on you no matter what you do...unless you make the intern take it to the parts washer. ;)
As a long time industrial equipment mechanic, I appreciate the attention detail you put into your rebuilds. I Have not seen many who mark their bolts as the go through each step of the build. If I ever needed a big Cat engine built I would absolutely look into having you do one for me.
He’s a genius with CATS,
the way he goes about his engineering work and problem solving is astounding…EXEMPLARY!👊
I am a retired mechanic after 50 + years on industrial equipment, I would love to build a Peterbuilt with one of your 800 hp Cat engines but thats not Reality for me , but you would be the only person I would trust to build that engine!

I freaking miss these great engines! Never seen a video like this before, straight to the action, no bull. Didn't even feel like a 25 min video. You've earned a new subscriber. My friend👏👍

Humble person that does all the work with love. Impressive work. I'm never fed up seeing your videos with all the genuine explanation!!
It's awesome to see the pride and craftsmanship that you put into each and every one of your Engine builds that you do. You should build a nice looking machine. Keep up the great work thanks for sharing ...😎

Nice to see IPD is still improving things, that exhaust manifold looks interesting also, thanks for keeping us up to date with these things and what your doing.
Them steedspeeds are real popular in the Cummins civilian truck world. Interested to hear how they do commercial.

I'm in awe of your knowledge of these engines, you are a very talented mechanic have a great day.
Something really nice about the atmosphere in your garage on a rainy night. The world outside sucks but there you are being productive in your own place.
It sure is fun to watch a man who's learned the trade from the bootstraps up... Damn.. Good on ya, sir..
I do HVAC work as a contractor for McAllister in Indiana. It is so cool to go there and see them tare down and rebuild and Dyno test these engines.I also do maintenance work on stationary Generators.
I have watched so many of this man's videos I want to buy a cat and strip it down lol then try and rebuild it just from the service manual and this man's videos. I bet it's possible.
Don’t go ruining a good cat block ... they ain’t making them anymore
This young man is the embodiment of American spirit and ingenuity. Mad respect!!
I am always amazed how those CAT engines start nd run so smooth, I always expect them to have mad Vibrations on the ground without the engine mounts.
This guy is a amazing mechanic. No telling how many he's rebuilt.
Finally!!! I wish you would posts more video's They are one of my top 3 favorites!!! Keep up the great work!!!!
Self taught and made it work for you. Good job and good to see you didn't waste your life and talent inside a truck or locomotive. Keep up the good work.
"Its got a fuel line on it, or whats left of it anyway" haha I was waiting for the second half.
Fixing things is so gratifying. Thanks for sharing history towards the end.
I like how he has a “full stop” cadence of speaking.
I usually watch some pretty low key tube stuff........my buddy and i can fix pretty much anything. Ive got two engineering degrees, and he dropped out of RISD. This has become my second favorite channel next to some guy that fixes outboard motors on boats down in Australia. Both brilliant mechanics/physicist type "kids". Both truly understand the machine they work on. Too bad we dont have any doctors like these guys these days.
I have always said the thing that separates the men from the boys is the ability to teach yourself.
This guy gets it! All about the content. No bullshit about promoting merch. Focuses primarily the engine/issue at hand. Doesn't sit in front of camera talks none stop about other crap. Explains everything in great detail!
💪🏿💪🏿 I just bought a 3406E in a 1996 FLD 120 and this is really cool that you do these type of videos!
That's how I got started. Worked in the shop for a local trucking company. Worked on 3406B,C, and E motors. Been in maintenance ever since...33years
I would love to spend a month with this dude and get to know how to rebuild engines
Nice video. I really enjoyed the shot of you knocking the liner in from inside the block.
You sir are a very talented craftsman!
Even though I don’t have any diesels I’d buy an engine from this guy! It’s like craftsmanship and artwork!
"It's got the wrong fuel filter but that should work"🤣 so how did you go about getting your shop and equipment, self taught, and self built. Lovveeeeee it
Glad to see another video. Is this the way a train crew operates a deadman ? The humor is off the chart !!
I enjoy these video's so much. Thanks for producing them. Appreciate the biography too.
Beautiful build. Be proud of yourself young fella. You've found your calling.
Fantastic video mate, so good seeing and hearing you share your great knowledge on these CAT engines when working on them.

That old cat 🐈 sounded good for being junk
The startup on that thing sounded great

I don't know why it is so much cooler to see an engine run on a stand (any engine), but there is no doubt about it.
I look forwards to every video you make, I feel like I learn something every time. Thanks you for making more!
Literally the only videos I watch from beginning to end.
I always enjoy your videos. You do great work. I've learned so much about these big engines from the videos you post. Thanks!

Love the videos man, I'm a Cummins guy been working for them for 4 years now but learning about CAT's
Looking to get deeper into trucking. You’ll be the only person I reach out to for rebuilds
Just found your channel buddy, very impressive and enjoyable stuff. I also just left my railroad career two weeks ago but to work for CAT; something I’ve always loved being around and I’m proud to work in the heavy equipment world. I worked for not one but two railroads and I just had enough and decided it wasn’t worth the 40 years myself; I’m very thankful for my experience there and it taught me a lot but I am so excited for the new chapter ahead, doing something I’ve always genuinely enjoyed! Subscribed for sure, keep the inspiration coming! 🔧
Looks like a lot of pride goes into these rebuilds👍. They'll last 10k times more than one built in the dirt after being washed out with a water hose.

I love your attention to detail that shows that you are a true professional at your craft. 👍👍
Glad to see your back and still around. Interesting story. Pretty damn impressive. Your channel and work make me want to go out and buy an old cat powered Peterbuilt and have you rebuild the engine. 🤔
Best diesel mechanic and channel on UTUBE you remind me of my uncle John working he was a diesel mechanic on a truck farm in Arizona 50 years turning wrenches
