      Glad I waited for the 2x head rush amps for the Ampero one . Killer killer killer . Now if I can just get some help figuring out how to get the Ampero One Editor to work with my Mac / with Big Sur . Ampere support sent me a very vague email saying it would work , recommended trying a different cable , different USB port , nothing helped . Keeps saying can’t be use in the downloaded format . I am not a computer guy . I’m 59 and old freekin school. Any one out there who knows what I’m not doing right I’m damn frustrated . I emailed Ampero again for assistance but they have not responded . Dear Leo as always!! Great video!! 😎🤘
    Nux included a 3-band input EQ and an 3-band output EQ each with level trim. These can be find in Pre-Eq en Output settings in the global settings. This make it easier to fit your guitar with the unit and make a proper gainstage setting (I want my master volume knobs between 50/75% with lots of headroom to play with. Be aware that the presets the unit comes with has been made with different guitars and input/output stages. So please don't judge gear by listen to presets. Presets are just building blocks to give you insight reverse engineering a sound or setting. Just pick your gear that works for you and make some music! 😎🤘

    The hotone with Ir is really identical to the original amp.
    Mg30 is what I wish to hear from a modeller to sounds like and what I imagine the original amp sounds will be, It so close to a real amp but not sounds like the original amp. With the 32bit/48khz and 11 blocks, I think it really can fight with the pod go.
    I wish it will have a bluetooth or some special funtion in next premium model.
    Ge200 is lack of dynamic and clearity, it sounds like looking for youtube in 240p.

    Great video! Leo is always neat and accurate. Yes, of course the GE 200 isn't the winner, but the other challengers are years newer! In terms of digital effects at least one year more or even less is just a long time... I own a GE 200, and I can honestly complaint the lack of firmware update (almost 4 years the last one! Shame on you, mooer!), but the sound is very good to my ears. How rightly Leo says, the sound isn't the only important feature of an electronic device, I know - I've already tried the tube amp with analogic pedalboard of a friend of mine (other world!) - but I don't play like Leo, so a cheap pedal is right for me (also full of advantages: sound card, preamp, lightweight, etc). However I didn't hear (at least, listening with headphones on YT) this huge sound improvement between GE 200 and the newest ones. Yes one or two additional ports, a little bit more quality accuracy... to me nothing more than marketing strategies. Like cellphones... one more camera, little bit more space, so there, a new model! I didn't hear a sound "revolution". When i sold my me-80 to buy the GE 200 the difference to my ears was sharply! And this is not the case. Here there are devices with similar features (one gaining in some and losing in the others) where everyone can say "this is the best"or where the difference is so slight that can fall in personal tastes... I've also tried the ampero in a music shop and I've found the feeling with expression pedal unpleasantly uncomfortable. I will wait more time before selling my little pedal, until arrive a real revolution in cheap multi effects world.

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Fractal designer has said of your demos that the load you use is responsible for hi end ressonance that is not present in the real amps and as a result both your IRs and your real amp vs (modeller + its own cab sim) sound brighter than it should.
      To be honest, neither the suhr reactive load or any other load does something about the negative feedback from the speaker to the power amp, it's an incomplete procedure. Unless you are comparing to amps without negative feedback like mesa rectifier modern mode etc, or vox ac15, ac30. However real amps blown out volume wise (full tilt!) also loose their negative feedback and become scratchier, boomier. He is kind of right...

    Bro, this looks like one of your toughest videos yet! These are all so similar and get have key differences that make each shine in different contexts. For my money, I think the MG 30 might be the way to go. I don't use elaborate rigs and I love that it comes with the extra pedals triggers. I don't own amps expensive enough to profile, but being able to download amps from other ppl makes the GE 200 very close in my opinion.

    Hi Leo. A question about the NUX MG-30.
    This multi-effects has unbalanced outputs. If you are going to play live and want to connect directly to a mixer, do you need a DI box?
    Congrats for your channel from Spain.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, the DI box would be needed to transform the unbalanced TS cable coming out from the NUX into balanced XLR ones...in this way you will be able to run long cables (from the NUX to the mixer) without adding noise....but I don't think that they are strictly needed if your mixer has TS inputs.
      Thanks!

      hello just for info, i have the ge200 and another nux model the mg300, initially i found the mg300 superior to the ge200, that is in sound, im only interested in the sound. however, since I tried downloading / installing some GNR files from the mooer site, I hardly use the Nux any more. Mooer have some incredible gnr files which are basically a sort of recording of a real amp and cab that you can upload onto your unit and use as an amp model. there are many ive only tried a few and some come pretty close to that warm tube amp feel, at the moment Im using a dumble gnr file and an engl gnr amp file, far better than the preinstalled amps in my opinion...

      @@dsam6990 i’ve ordered an MG 30 and it was supposed to be delivered the 21st but they knocked that into next month after the seventh. That’s very interesting about being able to load files from the Mooer site. May I ask is it a difficult thing to do as I’m not real computer savvy and also do they Offer them free if you purchased the pedal, or do you buy them. I may rethink it and cancel my order as I haven’t been charged yet.

    • @dsam6990
      @dsam6990 3 года назад

      @@LTJR. hey there, firstly the Nux MG30 is an older model than the Nux MG300, so although I haven't heard the 30, between the two I would go with the much newer MG300. My preference for the Mooer GE200 is based on what I would call the warmth like tube amp sound, I don't care if it sounds exactly like a certain model of amp which the MG300 does very well, I just want the tube like warmth. To me all these multi pedals tend to sound a bit fizzy, like if the sound was coming from a tin can, but I found a couple of GNR files for the Mooer that were slightly less fizzy for clean and overdrive. They are quit easy to install once you find them, which can be tricky and once you click on the right import button as there are 2 on the software that you have to install as well, they are free. Lastly please note that I play mostly using headphones, and if you intend to use mostly headphones, forget the above and buy the Fender Mustang Micro, so simple to use no apps, they sound to me far better than the Nux & Mooer, and for less than 100$ you will have a far closer warm tube sounding tiny headphone amp, that you can plug into an active speaker with the right cable as well. Stream music from a phone and walk around too. The Mustang Micro is all I use now, there are very little adjustments possible to the presets but unlike all pedal manufacturers Fender has made all the presets sound great, just that you can't do much tweaking, but for me that's cool cos they are much closer to a real tube amp feel, like really sweet like BB King or really sweet n sour like SRV .... Hope that helps

      @@dsam6990 hey man I’m pretty sure you got that backwards and that the MG 30 is the new one and the 300 is the older. I’m definitely not firing on you just discussing. I plan to use mine for home recording and to be able to get my large pedal boards And wires off of the floor. If it’s cool I might use it live in addition to my floor pedals as I have done that before, in the older days as a sort of add on to get some of the tripped out time based effects & their ability to ramp up & down with an expression pedal. Those throbbing square wave trems, with a weird modulation like maybe a slow flange, and a ping pong delay, and you could mesmerize the dancers in the club and almost make them fall over! I may order the 300 also, so I could send my little Hotone to my cousin in Canada where the prices are so high.

I dont mind to have less effects, I prefer the simplicity and the better sound. Obviously, I would use it also with headphones for prscticing using all the features (amps and cabs simulators). Hi Leo, which one to buy between Mooer GE250 vs NUX MG 30 according to you?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 года назад

      Hi, this is an hard question...also because they are in different price range...it depends...the GE 250 has the profiling features....where the NUX has a more advanced effect chain (with paralel effects)...so I think it really depends about what is more important for you and obviously if the price is not an issue...This is just a very sintetic opinion...but I would need to do a direct video comparison .... for a more ponderated answer...:)

    • @mevlutmertcil6105
      @mevlutmertcil6105 3 года назад

      @@LeoGibsonGtr I see. I have been doing some research for a time. I think IR loading, parallel path option, effect quality and tone capture/profiling are the things that make exceptional changes to the tone. I have seen/heard many times that IR loading makes the highest impact, but I am still not sure. Which feature do you think has the most effect on the tone?
      Let's say we have Boss GT1000 Core and Mooer GE300, both have IR loading feature. If we load the same IRs on both of these two devices, then do both devices sound extremely similar or are there still considerable differences (such as Boss effects being much better than Mooer's or vice versa)?
      The options are NUX MG 30, Mooer GE250/GE300, Boss GT1000 Core, Helix Stompbox.
      I cannot find Helix LT in local shops; therefore, I could not hear its tone. But after reading reviews/comparisons, I came to the conclusion that Boss has better sound while Helix has better user interface.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 года назад

      Hi, I don't think that the music genre would make a difference in deciding for a unit or another, unless you want a specific amp that is not available in a unit: I would suggest to check out the manuals to verify which amps are available in each unit.
      The "regular" Ampero has midi in, balanced out, etc. even if the effect signal chain is more limited than the one of the MG 30 (for instance the Ampero does not offer parallel effects): so it depends if you need midi in or balanced out or if you prefer a more flexible signal chain.

    • @aptfx

      That’s true, you have to use USB to control it using midi. AFAIK there are devices which offer midi ports and act as usb-host. Another thing I tried now: The latency of the MG30 as an audio interface seems to be really quite low. I used it with Overloud TH-U on iMac and iPad and it did work very well. I didn’t try out GElabs with it, but see no reason it would not work. This can compensate somewhat the GE200 tone capture feature. Since low latency audio interfaces are often not even cheaper than the MG30 itself, this is indeed good value.

    Great Comparison!
    I'm trying MG-30 and I'm quite happy.
    I still have to try everything well but this is my opinion.
    What I like:
    -32bit/48k, 1024 IR samples
    -The sound and dynamic is impressive for the price
    -4 cable method and the possibility to move the effect block or the FX loop area great versatile features.
    With 4 cables method I also managed to have both my amp and can and the IR out to my soundcard. Super great!
    -The external switch pedal is another welcome feature.
    -The physical controls and display are handy and the pc software is easy and nice
    -Possibility to choose different kind of output, line, amp in (combo or stack), amp return (combo or stack)
    -1 Custom IR can be loaded for every preset
    What I don't like by now:
    -The manual is basic, too much , nothing is explained there even the 4 cables method and there is nothing regarding the effects.
    -No empty slots even you can modify factory presets and do export import so not a great loss
    - Not as much effects as others devices but it have the effect FX and in the needs of something particular I can use a physical pedals
    Leo would you mind to suggest me some good custom IRs as the ones you are using in your comparisons ?

    • @boshi9
      @boshi9 3 года назад +1

      I’ve also considered 8040b and 8050b, but I’m not sure if they represent a significant improvement for this use case. 8030c have less bass extension, but appear to actually have a flatter frequency response above 300hz than 8040b (at least according to the charts on the official site). 8050b seem great (deepest bass, while being about as neutral in the higher frequencies as 8030c), however there’s a big price jump. Genelecs are quite expensive in the US, especially the higher end models. 8050b go for $1,895 each before taxes.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 года назад +1

      Hi Victor, mine are the 8040b...I have them since a long long time...I think they are pretty good monitors and they are fine if you want to play amp modeling pedalboards with them. More or less 3 years ago I upgraded to the Focal that you can see in my studio... and after few mixes I decided to keep both as I found that my mixes sound better when they are kind in the middle between these two monitors in terms of frequency response... I mean I found the 8040 to be more bassy than the Focal, and the Focal to be better in the middle / upper freq range...so I try to get good bass sound from the Genelec and good middle and high from the Focal...
      Nevertheless have not try the 8030 or the 8050...so I can't tell how they compare with the 8040...8040 are good monitors.

    Complimenti Leo per i fantastici video, sei un punto di riferimento. Volevo chiederti se sai dove posso trovare l’elenco degli amp e degli effetti con relativi parametri della MG30. Sono indeciso tra la MG30 e Ampero, dovendo usare la pedaliera con basso e chitarra. Mentre per il basso nel manuale di Ampero è ben specificato l’elenco degli ampli, cab ed effetti dedicati (in particolare gli effetti di distorsione dedicati prevedono un blend), per MG 30 non ho trovato nulla se non i cab dedicati al basso (ma sul sito in qualche immagine). Quale mi consiglieresti per questo uso ibrido basso/chitarra? Grazie!

      Effettivamente il manuale è un pò povero...la lista degli ampli la trovi in questo video: ruclips.net/video/Ie2trDPSO1Q/видео.html al minuto 14:54 ... Il video è la mia recensione dell'MG 30 e faccio sentire un pò di ampli ed effetti...mi rendo conto che non è come consultare la lista degli ampli in un manuale...ma è meglio di niente. Credo che se scorri il video dovresti trovare anche i drop down menù degli effetti.
      Ho ottenuto dei buoni suoni di basso da entrambe le macchine, ma sono un bassista amatore e non uso gli effetti per il basso, quindi non vorrei darti consigli sbagliati...ma le considerazioni che hai già fatto tu, credo siano corrette (es il blend)....

    Great video review, with in-depth analysis as usual! I thought the mg-30 sounded a bit more present and sparkly on the high end both distorted or on the clean patches you played. I've noticed that in almost every demo I've heard on RUclips that the mg-30 sounds more trebley and present. I wonder if that poses a problem on the stock presets? Did you have to dial out some of the high-end for your final settings? I do think with some tweaking the mg-30 may have the more realistic sound, but they did leave out some of the key features that the Mooer pedal offers like the profiling feature. I would like to see a head-to-head with the POD go. I know the POD is more expensive, but I think for me those two pedals are the ones I'm focused on to replace my aging Firehawk FX. I just wish the manufacturers had included XLR outs and Bluetooth functionality like the Firehawk FX has had for years. It is so convenient to tweak the amp settings off of your phone even in a live setting. God bless and rock on 😎🎸😎

      Hi, thank you, I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video! Actually I didn't touch the overall eq setting and as Lennert is saying, with the 3 band eq you can really set the tone as you want. A profiling procedure in the NUX would be great, but I don't think it's gonna happened, as Mooer products are based on profiling like Kemper where NUX is like fractal..they are modeling each component of the amp.

      I used to have Zoom g3x (same tech pretty much as g5n). It don't think it compares to the newer processors at all, from what I see in these reviews. For one, Zoom doesn't support impulse responses. That's the end of the story. Because IRs are a game changer in terms of sound realism. Bias and Sag settings on amps in Nux GE30 are also important, because that allows you to finetune the feel and responsiveness of the amp model. Parallel effects - running two amps and blending them together is a powerful feature to build unique tones. E.g. Metallica uses a blend of Rectifier with something (Diesel?). Generally, Zoom is good for ambience effects, but the higher in gain you go the more fake it sounds.

    Hi! I have a little question... For the mg-30, it's possible to record a basic loop, with drum etc and after when the loop is OK, to stop only the loop and plays on the drum in solo, and to restart the loop when you want?
    I hope my question is clear. Thanks for answer ☺️

      Hi, the modelers are not design with a specific genre or type or use. They are good for metal, rock, pop, etc. Therefore I don't see any of the 3 to be excluded considering your use case. I would just suggest you to check out if the amps and fx you are searching for are available and, in the case you need parallel effects, the only unit to go is the MG 30 (as it is the only one offering parallel effects).

    I've watched several of your comparison videos and I want to thank you for all your hard work. I've really enjoyed them. I'd have to call myself a very new beginner so one thing I can't help but wonder is your ability to setup the modelers from the original equipment. I don't have any of the high-priced amplifiers sitting in the room behind you to "calibrate" a modeling multi effects processor to the original. For that reason, I'd really like to know which effects processors replicate the original amps without much manual tuning. After all, what do I have to compare the processor with when I don't have access to any of those amplifiers? That's why I'd buy an effects processor, right? Anyway, I do like your comparisons and your opinions about the different effects processors.

      I think the Ampero is quite good, but to my ears the Nux sounds way more organic and responsive to the picking dynamics. I find the Ampero more like a jack of all trades, but the Nux sounds just great, even if it supports fewer effects/amps. Of course, the real Plexi sound is just way ahead of all of them, but for the money these are all great.

      Hi Sarah, it's very hard to answer as they are both great units. I would say that if you need to connect an amp with the 4 cable method or you want to record at 48khz (instead of 41), for sure the MG 30 is the unit to go...as regards the sound, it is very subjective and I would suggest you to check out the "more sound section of the video" to verify the one you like the most.

    Another brilliant video and tasty music Leo!
    I read that you can upload presets made within ge labs to the mooer(I'm not talking about sounds you profiled yourself, I'm wondering about the actual sounds within ge labs, as I really like their marshall sound). I tried reading up but it's not so clear really if these are a- the actual sounds within ge labs, or b- just the settings, that then are applied to the ampmodels already within the unit itself? I hope you can answer this for me, as I'd really love to get these sounds into a proper hardware unit, thanks for your time, Tom.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 года назад

      Hi Tom, in the video I'm not using the profiles done with the GE Labs App.
      You can of course download them from the Mooer web site, and here I have explained how to do them: ruclips.net/video/GSA9BSXaWng/видео.html
      As far as I know the profiles are not build upon the amp models in the unit, but are profiles of actual amp.

    Leo, thanks for the comparisons. Your videos are very informative and provide a great service to the worldwide guitar community. I have a question that I am hoping you may be able to provide some insight on. Presently I am looking at the Nux MG30, the Mooer GE 250 or the Ampero for a simple all in one practice unit. I am NOT looking to replace a larger rig, or use the unit live - I simply want something that I can practice with that has pretty decent tones, but most importantly - has a built in drum machine/metronome and a looper that automatically syncs with the internal drum machine. Can you speak to which of these units has the greater variety of drum loops and which one's looper offers an auto sync feature to its drum loops? I read on Mooer's website in their online manual that Ge 250 has a "Justify" setting that does exactly that - that if your timing is a little off, the looper will keep recording to the end of the drum machine's bar so the loops stay in sync. I'm not sure about the other 2 units. I can not find any info on a similar feature in online manuals, websites, or any videos that address this. Does the Ampero or Nux MG 30 have a similar feature within the looper or are you left to human timing to get the start and end points correct? Thank you for any information or insight you can provide.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 года назад +2

      Hi Jef, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you find the videos useful. As far as I know the Nux MG 30 has a specific function to synchronize the loop to the time that is pretty powerful...so I think that both the MG 30 and the GE 250 should be ok.
      Thank you for your question.

      Can I turn off only the preamp in it? (using only the power amp section). The thing is, I want to use my own tube preamp by plugging it into the FX loop, but I also want to emulate the power amp in the processor circuit.

      Hi, as far as I know you can not split the preamp from the power amp. Nevertheless you can still use your preamp just using the cab module of the NUX. You can still obtain pretty good results in this way, even in technically you have not a power amp in the signal chain.
