@Leo you helped me pick my fav pedal so i made sure all my musician friends watch ur comparison videos first before they buy smthg...thanks so much Leo ,love your channel
The hotone with Ir is really identical to the original amp. Mg30 is what I wish to hear from a modeller to sounds like and what I imagine the original amp sounds will be, It so close to a real amp but not sounds like the original amp. With the 32bit/48khz and 11 blocks, I think it really can fight with the pod go. I wish it will have a bluetooth or some special funtion in next premium model. Ge200 is lack of dynamic and clearity, it sounds like looking for youtube in 240p.
I just received the Ampero One . I bought it used in excellent condition. I’m waiting on 2 head rush frfr 108s. Kinda teasing myself until they arrive from Sweetwater. Looking forward to getting it on with the Ampero …
Glad I waited for the 2x head rush amps for the Ampero one . Killer killer killer . Now if I can just get some help figuring out how to get the Ampero One Editor to work with my Mac / with Big Sur . Ampere support sent me a very vague email saying it would work , recommended trying a different cable , different USB port , nothing helped . Keeps saying can’t be use in the downloaded format . I am not a computer guy . I’m 59 and old freekin school. Any one out there who knows what I’m not doing right I’m damn frustrated . I emailed Ampero again for assistance but they have not responded . Keep Rockin America
Great video, it really helps, specially on the specifications charts, I want to choose between mooer ge 250 vs Nux mg 30, I know that those are in different levels but I want to know if the ge 250 worths the double of price of the mg 30 I usually play live in small bars
Hi Leo! I’m leaning towards the MG-30. Is it possible to place in front of a combo amp and use it as a stomp, for example only for the modulation, reverb and delay stages?
What a song! Very nice! I have the GE250 and the possibility to load profiles is what I like the most, especially those made by Choptones (still waiting your Soldano lol). Tone capture is also cool. With the same settings as the amp, the Ampero sounds better, but the same can be achieved with mooer by scoping the mids a little. Thanks Leo, wish you the best!
You are welcome! thank you for sharing your opinion...and you are right...I should do my soldano profiles...sooner or later... I wish you the best to you too!
Dear Leo as always!! Great video!! 😎🤘 Nux included a 3-band input EQ and an 3-band output EQ each with level trim. These can be find in Pre-Eq en Output settings in the global settings. This make it easier to fit your guitar with the unit and make a proper gainstage setting (I want my master volume knobs between 50/75% with lots of headroom to play with. Be aware that the presets the unit comes with has been made with different guitars and input/output stages. So please don't judge gear by listen to presets. Presets are just building blocks to give you insight reverse engineering a sound or setting. Just pick your gear that works for you and make some music! 😎🤘
@@RobGross12Hahaha Nice one, No I had no intentions insulting Leo or any artist (I've made a back-up of all the factory presets to a file with the quicktone editor 😌☝🏻) Not gonna lie: Leo presets sounding great as also of some others (too bad Leo's presets comes later in the list, the unit starts with some over processed ones) 😎🤘 disclaimer: No artists were harmed during the writing of both comments
Hey man just noticed your comment, I've been looking for a way to get better headroom out of my MG30. How low do you set the levels on your patches'? I'm referring to the level knob that usually sits beside the bias knob in the preamp section. Thanks man.
MG30: synced looper, effects loop and Internal effects re-routing options. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. I just wish you could load profiles. Never done it before, but I'd like to give it a go.
Hello Leo & greetings from Downunder (Or Oz) Thanks for your always useful reviews & comparisons. A query about the Nux MG 30. Do I understand it correctly: with the Patches one creates from scratch or modified from the presets, there’s no “memory” or storage banks to store them as User Patches?? I sincerely hope I am wrong in this. Regards, Francis
Yes, as fa as I understood. Let me just say that anyway you can always save your patches / factory patches on external files and reload them whenever you want. Thank you for your message!
In your additional sounds section, how are you doing a Real Marshall Plexi with a Custom IR? what is your signal chain? Load box? Reactive Load? etc? Thanks.
Thanks for your work Leo. I’d love to see the mg30 vs joyo gembox 3. If the modelling was as good on the gembox I might go that way because of the xlr sitch..
You are welcome!!! You are right, but unfortunately I don't have the gumbo....I have to check out if I'm able to get a good second hand occasion! Thank you for your message and suggestion!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Fractal designer has said of your demos that the load you use is responsible for hi end ressonance that is not present in the real amps and as a result both your IRs and your real amp vs (modeller + its own cab sim) sound brighter than it should. To be honest, neither the suhr reactive load or any other load does something about the negative feedback from the speaker to the power amp, it's an incomplete procedure. Unless you are comparing to amps without negative feedback like mesa rectifier modern mode etc, or vox ac15, ac30. However real amps blown out volume wise (full tilt!) also loose their negative feedback and become scratchier, boomier. He is kind of right...
Bro, this looks like one of your toughest videos yet! These are all so similar and get have key differences that make each shine in different contexts. For my money, I think the MG 30 might be the way to go. I don't use elaborate rigs and I love that it comes with the extra pedals triggers. I don't own amps expensive enough to profile, but being able to download amps from other ppl makes the GE 200 very close in my opinion.
Hi Jesus, thank you and yes...this was pretty difficult...these video comparisons are pretty time consuming to do! Thank you also for sharing your opinion!
Hi Leo. A question about the NUX MG-30. This multi-effects has unbalanced outputs. If you are going to play live and want to connect directly to a mixer, do you need a DI box? Congrats for your channel from Spain.
Hi, the DI box would be needed to transform the unbalanced TS cable coming out from the NUX into balanced XLR ones...in this way you will be able to run long cables (from the NUX to the mixer) without adding noise....but I don't think that they are strictly needed if your mixer has TS inputs. Thanks!
Hi Leo!!! Great video!! I have just discover your channel! One question!! Do you think is a good option for the price to have one of this connected to my little amp at home (supro delta king 8)? My idea is to use most of the time only the effects to complement the natural sound of the amp. In that case, which one of the 3 has better effects/sound?? I dont mind to have less effects, I prefer the simplicity and the better sound. Obviously, I would use it also with headphones for prscticing using all the features (amps and cabs simulators). In thinking in mg-30 but appreciate your recommendation. Thank you in advance!!!! Regards from Spain!!!
Hi Carlos, thank you so much, I'm happy that you like the video! If you want to use it one of these unit with your amp, I think that you need the possibility to connect your amp with the pedalboard with the 4 cable method, and that only unit which allows this possibility is the MG 30. Thank you!
Great video! Leo is always neat and accurate. Yes, of course the GE 200 isn't the winner, but the other challengers are years newer! In terms of digital effects at least one year more or even less is just a long time... I own a GE 200, and I can honestly complaint the lack of firmware update (almost 4 years the last one! Shame on you, mooer!), but the sound is very good to my ears. How rightly Leo says, the sound isn't the only important feature of an electronic device, I know - I've already tried the tube amp with analogic pedalboard of a friend of mine (other world!) - but I don't play like Leo, so a cheap pedal is right for me (also full of advantages: sound card, preamp, lightweight, etc). However I didn't hear (at least, listening with headphones on YT) this huge sound improvement between GE 200 and the newest ones. Yes one or two additional ports, a little bit more quality accuracy... to me nothing more than marketing strategies. Like cellphones... one more camera, little bit more space, so there, a new model! I didn't hear a sound "revolution". When i sold my me-80 to buy the GE 200 the difference to my ears was sharply! And this is not the case. Here there are devices with similar features (one gaining in some and losing in the others) where everyone can say "this is the best"or where the difference is so slight that can fall in personal tastes... I've also tried the ampero in a music shop and I've found the feeling with expression pedal unpleasantly uncomfortable. I will wait more time before selling my little pedal, until arrive a real revolution in cheap multi effects world.
Very useful. I went back and forth several times. If my ears are not mistaken the MG 30 sounds closer to the real Plexi. Ampero one is close (may need EQ adjustment) and sounds good with custom IR. GE200 seems flat to me.
Hi! I have a little question... For the mg-30, it's possible to record a basic loop, with drum etc and after when the loop is OK, to stop only the loop and plays on the drum in solo, and to restart the loop when you want? I hope my question is clear. Thanks for answer ☺️
10:43 amp 10:58 amp ir 11:46 ampero one 12:02 ampero one ir 12:18 mg 30 12:33 mg 30 ir ampero(not ampero one) vs mg30 which one do you like? I'm very confused since 3 weeks ago...
Thank you! Well, in term of sound the Ampero and the Ampero one sounds the same...so you can use this video also to check the sound differences between the MG30 and the Ampero. In terms of features the regular Ampero has the XLR out that are missing from the MG30, so this is I think the main difference. Thank you!
Ciao Leo. Premesso che la qualità del tuo video è fuori discussione....... Volevo chiederti.....in questi giorni ho cervato (inutilmente) materiale esplicativo su questa pedaliera per capirne di più. The MG30 actually has MIDI through USB... It even has an extensive MIDI config panel in its software where you can setup all the MIDI CC for the multitude of virtual effect knobs and switches
Would you rather advise to go for a full Hotone Ampero (the one with MIDI) or with a NUX mg30 if used for playing Metal? Especially soundwise i would be Interesse in other oppinions😄
Hi, I don't think that the music genre would make a difference in deciding for a unit or another, unless you want a specific amp that is not available in a unit: I would suggest to check out the manuals to verify which amps are available in each unit. The "regular" Ampero has midi in, balanced out, etc. even if the effect signal chain is more limited than the one of the MG 30 (for instance the Ampero does not offer parallel effects): so it depends if you need midi in or balanced out or if you prefer a more flexible signal chain. Thank you for your message!
Leo, I’ve noticed that you have Genelec monitors, not sure what the model is. I’m thinking of buying 8030c, I wonder if you have any thoughts on them, specifically for home studio use with guitar amp modelers.
I’ve also considered 8040b and 8050b, but I’m not sure if they represent a significant improvement for this use case. 8030c have less bass extension, but appear to actually have a flatter frequency response above 300hz than 8040b (at least according to the charts on the official site). 8050b seem great (deepest bass, while being about as neutral in the higher frequencies as 8030c), however there’s a big price jump. Genelecs are quite expensive in the US, especially the higher end models. 8050b go for $1,895 each before taxes.
Hi Victor, mine are the 8040b...I have them since a long long time...I think they are pretty good monitors and they are fine if you want to play amp modeling pedalboards with them. More or less 3 years ago I upgraded to the Focal that you can see in my studio... and after few mixes I decided to keep both as I found that my mixes sound better when they are kind in the middle between these two monitors in terms of frequency response... I mean I found the 8040 to be more bassy than the Focal, and the Focal to be better in the middle / upper freq range...so I try to get good bass sound from the Genelec and good middle and high from the Focal... Nevertheless have not try the 8030 or the 8050...so I can't tell how they compare with the 8040...8040 are good monitors. Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thank you so much for the detailed response! I have to say your music and guitar tone always sound great, so I really appreciate your opinion on these matters. BTW, I've been notified that the first batch of Quad Cortex units is getting shipped to European customers within a week, looking forward to your review!
Hi Leo. Thanks for the comparison. Love your videos, man. Do you think Ampero One is good for recording? I mean like for album wise recording, not for demo recording.
Hi Leo, I currently have a Zoom G5n, but I'm thinking of getting Ampero One. Could you perhaps kindly give your opinion about these two, and on whether I should switch?
Hi, unfortunately I don't have the G5n so I can't tell from direct experience. I can just say that in the last 2 years the amp modeling industry has done a pretty big jump in terms of quality and features and therefore newer units should be better compared to the old ones, like the G5n Thank you for your question!
@@LeoGibsonGtr what I know is that sound-wise G5n is equal to G3n and G3Xn.. they're all older than the Ampero. Thank you for your opinion! I'd definitely put that into consideration 🙂
Nice comparison. The MG 30 in Canada retails for $389.99. The GE200 retails for $420. I have the GE200 but I'd buy the mg 30 out of the 3 compared here. As I've told you before, your comparisons and channel are among my favourites on youtube! Keep up the great work! I'd like to see more of the zoom multi effects - like the G3xn and the G5n. I know you have done the g1x four and the g11.
Hi Tony, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the channel! Thank you also for sharing your opinion! I will check out if I'm able to find some second hand occasion for the zoom...
hello just for info, i have the ge200 and another nux model the mg300, initially i found the mg300 superior to the ge200, that is in sound, im only interested in the sound. however, since I tried downloading / installing some GNR files from the mooer site, I hardly use the Nux any more. Mooer have some incredible gnr files which are basically a sort of recording of a real amp and cab that you can upload onto your unit and use as an amp model. there are many ive only tried a few and some come pretty close to that warm tube amp feel, at the moment Im using a dumble gnr file and an engl gnr amp file, far better than the preinstalled amps in my opinion...
@@dsam6990 i’ve ordered an MG 30 and it was supposed to be delivered the 21st but they knocked that into next month after the seventh. That’s very interesting about being able to load files from the Mooer site. May I ask is it a difficult thing to do as I’m not real computer savvy and also do they Offer them free if you purchased the pedal, or do you buy them. I may rethink it and cancel my order as I haven’t been charged yet.
@@LTJR. hey there, firstly the Nux MG30 is an older model than the Nux MG300, so although I haven't heard the 30, between the two I would go with the much newer MG300. My preference for the Mooer GE200 is based on what I would call the warmth like tube amp sound, I don't care if it sounds exactly like a certain model of amp which the MG300 does very well, I just want the tube like warmth. To me all these multi pedals tend to sound a bit fizzy, like if the sound was coming from a tin can, but I found a couple of GNR files for the Mooer that were slightly less fizzy for clean and overdrive. They are quit easy to install once you find them, which can be tricky and once you click on the right import button as there are 2 on the software that you have to install as well, they are free. Lastly please note that I play mostly using headphones, and if you intend to use mostly headphones, forget the above and buy the Fender Mustang Micro, so simple to use no apps, they sound to me far better than the Nux & Mooer, and for less than 100$ you will have a far closer warm tube sounding tiny headphone amp, that you can plug into an active speaker with the right cable as well. Stream music from a phone and walk around too. The Mustang Micro is all I use now, there are very little adjustments possible to the presets but unlike all pedal manufacturers Fender has made all the presets sound great, just that you can't do much tweaking, but for me that's cool cos they are much closer to a real tube amp feel, like really sweet like BB King or really sweet n sour like SRV .... Hope that helps
@@dsam6990 hey man I’m pretty sure you got that backwards and that the MG 30 is the new one and the 300 is the older. I’m definitely not firing on you just discussing. I plan to use mine for home recording and to be able to get my large pedal boards And wires off of the floor. If it’s cool I might use it live in addition to my floor pedals as I have done that before, in the older days as a sort of add on to get some of the tripped out time based effects & their ability to ramp up & down with an expression pedal. Those throbbing square wave trems, with a weird modulation like maybe a slow flange, and a ping pong delay, and you could mesmerize the dancers in the club and almost make them fall over! I may order the 300 also, so I could send my little Hotone to my cousin in Canada where the prices are so high.
Thanks for sharing. I was wondering if the question that many of us tube amp lovers and pedalboard users is shall we try all you can play modelers or a decicated amp solution like iridiun or walrus ACS1?
Hi Carlos, you are welcome...well it depends: if you want an all in one solution with effects, amps etc...then go with an amp modeling pedalboard. If you just want few good amps tones and then you want to add your own effects pedals...something like the Iridium is the way to go. Thank you for your message!
All-in-one for grab 'n go & jamming at home, Walrus, NUX Solid Studio etc for "serious" stuff like gigs and recording. The Iridium didn't impress me when I tried one. It did not like many of my pedals, especially Fuzz.
Hi Leo, Again, astoundingly complete video. Great work. I thought the biggest difference in sound was the clean Fender sound. The Mooer had " that Sound". The Ampero was OK. The Nux fell a bit short. A little harsher?. Other than that , I liked the Nux best.
I've watched several of your comparison videos and I want to thank you for all your hard work. I've really enjoyed them. I'd have to call myself a very new beginner so one thing I can't help but wonder is your ability to setup the modelers from the original equipment. I don't have any of the high-priced amplifiers sitting in the room behind you to "calibrate" a modeling multi effects processor to the original. For that reason, I'd really like to know which effects processors replicate the original amps without much manual tuning. After all, what do I have to compare the processor with when I don't have access to any of those amplifiers? That's why I'd buy an effects processor, right? Anyway, I do like your comparisons and your opinions about the different effects processors.
hello. what do you advise me, i already have zoom g3 with 3 display for stomp experience, is it worth retiring for one of these? Because I see they have the same things. loop.battery, the sounds? are they really better?
Hi Axel, I don't have the G3...it should be pretty old now, and algorithms and hardware features improve over the time...so I think that the new modelers are better, but I'm not 100% sure, as I don't have the G3. Thank you for your question!
Hi, this is an hard question...also because they are in different price range...it depends...the GE 250 has the profiling features....where the NUX has a more advanced effect chain (with paralel effects)...so I think it really depends about what is more important for you and obviously if the price is not an issue...This is just a very sintetic opinion...but I would need to do a direct video comparison .... for a more ponderated answer...:)
@@LeoGibsonGtr I see. I have been doing some research for a time. I think IR loading, parallel path option, effect quality and tone capture/profiling are the things that make exceptional changes to the tone. I have seen/heard many times that IR loading makes the highest impact, but I am still not sure. Which feature do you think has the most effect on the tone? Let's say we have Boss GT1000 Core and Mooer GE300, both have IR loading feature. If we load the same IRs on both of these two devices, then do both devices sound extremely similar or are there still considerable differences (such as Boss effects being much better than Mooer's or vice versa)? The options are NUX MG 30, Mooer GE250/GE300, Boss GT1000 Core, Helix Stompbox. I cannot find Helix LT in local shops; therefore, I could not hear its tone. But after reading reviews/comparisons, I came to the conclusion that Boss has better sound while Helix has better user interface.
Great video review, with in-depth analysis as usual! I thought the mg-30 sounded a bit more present and sparkly on the high end both distorted or on the clean patches you played. I've noticed that in almost every demo I've heard on RUclips that the mg-30 sounds more trebley and present. I wonder if that poses a problem on the stock presets? Did you have to dial out some of the high-end for your final settings? I do think with some tweaking the mg-30 may have the more realistic sound, but they did leave out some of the key features that the Mooer pedal offers like the profiling feature. I would like to see a head-to-head with the POD go. I know the POD is more expensive, but I think for me those two pedals are the ones I'm focused on to replace my aging Firehawk FX. I just wish the manufacturers had included XLR outs and Bluetooth functionality like the Firehawk FX has had for years. It is so convenient to tweak the amp settings off of your phone even in a live setting. God bless and rock on 😎🎸😎
with the MG-30 you can lowering the input stage (Pre EQ and the Output stage both have a 3-band EQ) Each guitar act differently so it's nice NUX has include this. I think the MG-30 sounds really nice. very nice featureset and the interface is fun to work with, I've didn't use the software yet. The unit is already fun to edit :-)
Hi, thank you, I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video! Actually I didn't touch the overall eq setting and as Lennert is saying, with the 3 band eq you can really set the tone as you want. A profiling procedure in the NUX would be great, but I don't think it's gonna happened, as Mooer products are based on profiling like Kemper where NUX is like fractal..they are modeling each component of the amp. The POD GO is in another price range...but many of you are asking a direct comparison...so maybe I will do it. Thank you for your message!!!
For full understanding needed to add mooer profile of this real amps and add them to this comparison! Now ampero closer to real amp (but to much high pres), then mg30( little to boomy) and then mooer. But profile in mooer potentially make it winner.
Excellent presentation and comparison but I would not give preference in the current / power category based on a 100mA current difference. Maybe the extra 100mA goes to lighting. 100mA is a miniscule amount.
Thanks for this...I have a Mooer GE200 and viewing the new NUX MG30 I'm wondering about change for one of this... About the quantity of amps the most cool thing with Mooer is the chance to upload own amps from other sources, but the internal amps there are many good but other are horrible...I think NUX focus on create good amps and FX too...only supposing. The quality of resolution with the IR is one of the very most important features also... Anyway I'm very satisfied with my MOOER, the three are very good units at lower prices with cons and pro, but excellent
Another brilliant video and tasty music Leo! I read that you can upload presets made within ge labs to the mooer(I'm not talking about sounds you profiled yourself, I'm wondering about the actual sounds within ge labs, as I really like their marshall sound). I tried reading up but it's not so clear really if these are a- the actual sounds within ge labs, or b- just the settings, that then are applied to the ampmodels already within the unit itself? I hope you can answer this for me, as I'd really love to get these sounds into a proper hardware unit, thanks for your time, Tom.
Hi Tom, in the video I'm not using the profiles done with the GE Labs App. You can of course download them from the Mooer web site, and here I have explained how to do them: ruclips.net/video/GSA9BSXaWng/видео.html As far as I know the profiles are not build upon the amp models in the unit, but are profiles of actual amp. Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr awesome thank you very much is a bit clearer now, if I upload one of their presets, I should then be able to get that down into a mooer unit. I'll just have to buy one now!
That’s true, you have to use USB to control it using midi. AFAIK there are devices which offer midi ports and act as usb-host. Another thing I tried now: The latency of the MG30 as an audio interface seems to be really quite low. I used it with Overloud TH-U on iMac and iPad and it did work very well. I didn’t try out GElabs with it, but see no reason it would not work. This can compensate somewhat the GE200 tone capture feature. Since low latency audio interfaces are often not even cheaper than the MG30 itself, this is indeed good value.
Hi Jan, it's pretty hard to answer...the all can do crunch tone pretty well...maybe you can check out the beginning of the More sound section of this video where there is a comparison with a real Plexi and you can choose the one you like the most!
Great Comparison! I'm trying MG-30 and I'm quite happy. I still have to try everything well but this is my opinion. What I like: -32bit/48k, 1024 IR samples -The sound and dynamic is impressive for the price -4 cable method and the possibility to move the effect block or the FX loop area great versatile features. With 4 cables method I also managed to have both my amp and can and the IR out to my soundcard. Super great! -The external switch pedal is another welcome feature. -The physical controls and display are handy and the pc software is easy and nice -Possibility to choose different kind of output, line, amp in (combo or stack), amp return (combo or stack) -1 Custom IR can be loaded for every preset What I don't like by now: -The manual is basic, too much , nothing is explained there even the 4 cables method and there is nothing regarding the effects. -No empty slots even you can modify factory presets and do export import so not a great loss - Not as much effects as others devices but it have the effect FX and in the needs of something particular I can use a physical pedals Leo would you mind to suggest me some good custom IRs as the ones you are using in your comparisons ?

May i ask how's the nux mg30 and mooer ge200 tap tempo comparison specially on delay effects..because every now and then i tap the tempo while playing ang i dont like the "spaceship" sound like when changing tempo while playing
Between the Ampero One and NUX MG30, do you have an opinion on which (if either) are best suited to gig with? My requirements are that presets can be assigned to the stomp switches and can be switched on the fly and that effects can be switched in the same manner ( but not necessarily both at the same time).
Leo, thanks for the comparisons. Your videos are very informative and provide a great service to the worldwide guitar community. I have a question that I am hoping you may be able to provide some insight on. Presently I am looking at the Nux MG30, the Mooer GE 250 or the Ampero for a simple all in one practice unit. I am NOT looking to replace a larger rig, or use the unit live - I simply want something that I can practice with that has pretty decent tones, but most importantly - has a built in drum machine/metronome and a looper that automatically syncs with the internal drum machine. Can you speak to which of these units has the greater variety of drum loops and which one's looper offers an auto sync feature to its drum loops? I read on Mooer's website in their online manual that Ge 250 has a "Justify" setting that does exactly that - that if your timing is a little off, the looper will keep recording to the end of the drum machine's bar so the loops stay in sync. I'm not sure about the other 2 units. I can not find any info on a similar feature in online manuals, websites, or any videos that address this. Does the Ampero or Nux MG 30 have a similar feature within the looper or are you left to human timing to get the start and end points correct? Thank you for any information or insight you can provide.
Hi Jef, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you find the videos useful. As far as I know the Nux MG 30 has a specific function to synchronize the loop to the time that is pretty powerful...so I think that both the MG 30 and the GE 250 should be ok. Thank you for your question.
Hi Ken, the next a Ampero should come in Spring...I did a video about it: ruclips.net/video/fm5jEeNFoj0/видео.html I think it's gonna be pricer than MG 30, GE 200 or Ampero one Thank you for your message!
Hello Leo !! Please help me in this regard.. I need a processor to use with my player series fender strat.. I want the clean tones, crunch, just slight overdrive.. no use of distortion.. I love the reverb ,ambient tones and shimmer.. which one is better?? Between these 3 or anything else in 300 dollars price range
Hi, the modelers are not design with a specific genre or type or use. They are good for metal, rock, pop, etc. Therefore I don't see any of the 3 to be excluded considering your use case. I would just suggest you to check out if the amps and fx you are searching for are available and, in the case you need parallel effects, the only unit to go is the MG 30 (as it is the only one offering parallel effects). Thank you for your question!
Hi Enrico, thank you very much, I'm happy you like it! Actually I didn't, I've promised that I will reveal my nationality as soon as I reach 10k subs.....😊
Hi, it's really hard to provide a "black" or "white" answer, especially where both units are very good and it finally depends on your taste and on what you are used to. I would be happy with both...if you are more into complex chains, the MG 30 offers parallel effects for modulation, reverbs and delay. Thank you for your question!
@@LeoGibsonGtr I like a clear tones in my case, with classical pedal effects, for blues, funk and hard rock, tones and effects more faithful to mayer, hendrix and black sabbath. with one good tube screamer, fuzz face and U vibe and that allow them to be used together in the same chain of effects if necessary
What is the "Custom IR" when used with the real amps? It just says "Real Plexi + Custom IR". Is it downloadable, and or what is the model of the IR? Thanks!
Hi, I've recorded the plexi with a Suhr reactive load and then I have loaded an IR in my Digital Audio Workstation. In this way the real amp and the modellers are all using the same IR. You can check out the IR here: www.leogibsonguitar.com/shop-online/p/leo-essential-irs Thank you!
Grande Leo.
Hi, good question! Actually in order to answer properly I should do a direct comparison...good suggestion....maybe in the coming weeks. Thank you for your suggestion!
Grazie ancora!!!
Amazing test! Your IR made a huge difference in both the Ampero and the GE200. Seems to me the MG-30 faired the best against the real amp, overall, with and without your great IR.
Listening to this on monitor headphones and it's incredible how the Ampero gets close to the real Plexi and not that far from the real Twin. It's on another league. The NUX feels very thin in comparison. The Ampero superior Dynamic Range really speaks out here.
The MG 30 looks like a very neat little backup unit. However, when listening to the MG 30 around RUclips, it sounds somewhat midrangey? In comparisons it always sounds more high middy, and somewhat nasal, than the others...
@@LeoGibsonGtr Been listening some more...I actually think this modeler sounds as good, or better, than most out there. From what I can hear on RUclips, that is. I do wish it had midi and balanced outputs though!
Hi, unfortunately I don't have a GT1, therefore I can not give you an advice from direct experience...I would say that it is a pretty old device...but I'm not sure if it sound better or worser than the MG30. Sorry
Man i feel the MG-30 Lacks Lows and Low mids. I own one, i had Boss Gt-1 before. I Loved the GT-1 for its fullness. With rectifier of MG-30 there is no Low end at all, i dont know why they included a Bass Knob then.... I have no idea how youtubers can promote this pedal. i see the low end lack in every video on youtube. I regret buying MG-30 ,Is there anything I have to try out? Or is there anything special not to sell my MG-30?..... Expecting a reply, Thanks.

Hi Ryan, thank you so much, this is a great compliment that really makes me happy!!!
@Leo you helped me pick my fav pedal so i made sure all my musician friends watch ur comparison videos first before they buy smthg...thanks so much Leo ,love your channel
One of the best comparison videos that I have seen lately, awesome work mate!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
I would chose the MG-30 for the 4-cable method. That said, I actually think the Ampero with the custom IRs sounded the best to my ears.
Hi Daniel, thank you for sharing...the 4CM is pretty important as you can use it with your amp or with a different preamp+cab
Thank you!
best demo comparisons anywhere, thanks.
Thank you so much Luigi, really appreciated!!!
I love the "RVB HF" feature of the MG-30 so much, I will miss it in all modelers to follow 😆
:) Thank you for sharing!
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion!
Forget about features for a moment. I want a great sounding system. And in my opinion the Ampero One sounds way better than the other two.
Hi Tim, thank you for sharing your opinion!
I just received the Ampero One . I bought it used in excellent condition. I’m waiting on 2 head rush frfr 108s. Kinda teasing myself until they arrive from Sweetwater. Looking forward to getting it on with the Ampero …
AGREE THE HOTONE HAS THE BETTER SOUNDS ALL TOGETHER, THE NUX JUST SOUNDS CHEAP

Oh Yeah !
Hi Leo! I’m leaning towards the MG-30. Is it possible to place in front of a combo amp and use it as a stomp, for example only for the modulation, reverb and delay stages?
Hi, yes it is. Just remember to remove the amp and cab blocks from the signal chain.
Thank you for your message!
Great job as always! Thanks!
You are welcome and I'm happy that you appreciate the video!!
Nux included a 3-band input EQ and an 3-band output EQ each with level trim. 😎🤘
Hi, thank you, really appreciated! Thank you also for sharing your opinion and experience!
You know Leo made some of the presets, right? Did you just insult him? ;)
Loading profiles in the MG30 would be for sure super cool...

Been waiting on this. Thanks.
You are welcome!!!
Thank you for letting me know!
Hello Leo & greetings from Downunder (Or Oz)
Thanks for your always useful reviews & comparisons.
A query about the Nux MG 30. Do I understand it correctly: with the Patches one creates from scratch or modified from the presets, there’s no “memory” or storage banks to store them as User Patches??
I sincerely hope I am wrong in this.
Regards,
Francis
Yes, as fa as I understood. Let me just say that anyway you can always save your patches / factory patches on external files and reload them whenever you want.
Thank you for your message!
Sounds like a hassle
In your additional sounds section, how are you doing a Real Marshall Plexi with a Custom IR? what is your signal chain? Load box? Reactive Load? etc? Thanks.
Hi, I use a Suhr reactive load.
Thank you for your message!
Thanks for your work Leo. I’d love to see the mg30 vs joyo gembox 3. If the modelling was as good on the gembox I might go that way because of the xlr sitch..

You are right, but unfortunately I don't have the gumbo....I have to check out if I'm able to get a good second hand occasion!
Thank you for your message and suggestion!!!
i vote for Ampero for the tone
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion!
Thanks for the video, the effects loop definitely swings it for me, I wish it was a stereo loop! Maybe the next machine...
You are welcome! Yes, the fx loop is a pretty cool feature, that unlocks the 4 CB...pretty useful!
Thank you for your message!
Finally..I've been waiting for this video of yours, man... great as always!

Thank you Leo - great review/comparison! Very much appreciated!

Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks for your answer.
Thank you Damiano, I'm happy that you appreciate the video!
Thank you also for sharing your experience and opinions...interesting points.

MIDI was critical for me, so I got an HX Stomp. Really nice demo tune and playing. Thanks
Thank you for sharing ... yes, a midi port would have been a pretty nice addition!

Hi, thank you, I'm happy that you like the videos!!!
Yes, sure...in a mixed song it is gonna be hard to notice the difference...if any...
Hi Leo, I currently have a Zoom G5n, but I'm thinking of getting Ampero One.
Could you perhaps kindly give your opinion about these two, and on whether I should switch?
Hi, unfortunately I don't have the G5n so I can't tell from direct experience.
I can just say that in the last 2 years the amp modeling industry has done a pretty big jump in terms of quality and features and therefore newer units should be better compared to the old ones, like the G5n
Thank you for your question!
Hi Leo,
Again, astoundingly complete video. Great work. I thought the biggest difference in sound was the clean Fender sound. The Mooer had " that Sound". The Ampero was OK. The Nux fell a bit short. A little harsher?. Other than that , I liked the Nux best.
Hi Martin, thank you so much, both for the compliments and for sharing your findings!!!!
Hi Leo, which one to buy between Mooer GE250 vs NUX MG 30 according to you?
But after reading reviews/comparisons, I came to the conclusion that Boss has better sound while Helix has better user interface.
which among the three has a menu Amp/mic/effecr for vocal
Hi, neither one, as far as I know. If someone has better info, please drop us a message!
Thank you for your question!
Hi Leo. Could Hotone Ampero and Nux MG30 be used for bass guitar, and as the USB interface too?
Hi, yes they can
Great video review, with in-depth analysis as usual!
Fender Real 12:49
GE200 13:26
AMPERO 14:04
MG 30 14:41
GE200 IR 13:45
AMPERO IR 14:22
MG 30 IR 14:59
Thank you!
Thanks! My ears hear that the GE200 is closer to the real Fender and the Ampero pretty close. MG30 falls short.
Ampero One for me
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
For full understanding needed to add mooer profile of this real amps and add them to this comparison!
Now ampero closer to real amp (but to much high pres), then mg30( little to boomy) and then mooer.
But profile in mooer potentially make it winner.
Hi, yes, it would have been a nice addition, but I just wanted to stay with what you get out of the box
Thank you for your message!
Excellent presentation and comparison but I would not give preference in the current / power category based on a 100mA current difference. Maybe the extra 100mA goes to lighting. 100mA is a miniscule amount.
Thank you Mark. Ok, thank you for sharing your opinion!
Hi David, you are welcome and thank you for sharing your opinions and considerations!
You can of course download them from the Mooer web site, and here I have explained how to do them: ruclips.net/video/GSA9BSXaWng/видео.html
As far as I know the profiles are not build upon the amp models in the unit, but are profiles of actual amp.
Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr awesome thank you very much is a bit clearer now, if I upload one of their presets, I should then be able to get that down into a mooer unit. I'll just have to buy one now!
You are welcome!
The MG30 has a BIAS setting, global EQ&trim for input and output, Low/High-Cut in IRs and a very low latency (2ms)... and it actually has MIDI
Hi, thank you for sharing. Let me just add that it does not have a midi port.
@@aptfx Hey man, can you use Positive Grid BIAS FX2 or NEURAL DSP Plugins using NUX MG30?
In your opinion which one is best only in sound quality (focus on crunch/drive sound)?
Hi Jan, it's pretty hard to answer...the all can do crunch tone pretty well...maybe you can check out the beginning of the More sound section of this video where there is a comparison with a real Plexi and you can choose the one you like the most!
Marvellous review thanks
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
The price range is not the same for ge200.. it's much cheaper of the three.. anyways, superb demo songs and exceptional playing.. BRAVO!
Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
Great Comparison!
I'm trying MG-30 and I'm quite happy.
I still have to try everything well but this is my opinion.
What I like:
-32bit/48k, 1024 IR samples
-The sound and dynamic is impressive for the price
-4 cable method and the possibility to move the effect block or the FX loop area great versatile features.
With 4 cables method I also managed to have both my amp and can and the IR out to my soundcard. Super great!
-The external switch pedal is another welcome feature.
-The physical controls and display are handy and the pc software is easy and nice
-Possibility to choose different kind of output, line, amp in (combo or stack), amp return (combo or stack)
-1 Custom IR can be loaded for every preset
What I don't like by now:
-The manual is basic, too much , nothing is explained there even the 4 cables method and there is nothing regarding the effects.
-No empty slots even you can modify factory presets and do export import so not a great loss
- Not as much effects as others devices but it have the effect FX and in the needs of something particular I can use a physical pedals
Leo would you mind to suggest me some good custom IRs as the ones you are using in your comparisons ?
Hi, great post, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!

Would like to know too, but I am a bedroom player
Hey Leo, nice video buddy! I had a question to ask... Can I use NEURAL DSP Plugins or BIAS FX2 using NUX MG30? Is that possible?
Hi, I'm not sure if I have properly understood your question, but you can not use plugin with the MG 30.
Dear Leo, thanks!
You are welcome!!!
When is the next ampero and mooer coming out? I think the nux supports midi over usb
Hi Ken, the next a Ampero should come in Spring...I did a video about it: ruclips.net/video/fm5jEeNFoj0/видео.html
I think it's gonna be pricer than MG 30, GE 200 or Ampero one
Thank you for your message!
Sir!!!Hotone MP-100 Ampero or Nux mg 30
As usual top review. Did you ever disclosed where you're coming from?
Hi Enrico, thank you very much, I'm happy you like it!
Actually I didn't, I've promised that I will reveal my nationality as soon as I reach 10k subs.....😊
@@LeoGibsonGtr than I have to push all my friends to subscribe
😊 this is a great idea!!! 😊👍🏻
Which do you think is better in the emulation of effects and amps, the nux mg30 or the hotone ampero?

You can check out the IR here: www.leogibsonguitar.com/shop-online/p/leo-essential-irs

15:00 MG30 w/ IR? Text on video was Ampero again
Hi David, sorry there is an error, it's NUX ...I wrongly copied the description of the previous blocks....
I just snapped the one that was the cheapest second hand on Amazon - GE200 for 140 eur :)
Thank you for sharing!
Grande Leo.
Which do you recommend between the nux mg30 and the mooer ge250? I get both at the same price
Hi, good question!
Actually in order to answer properly I should do a direct comparison...good suggestion....maybe in the coming weeks.

Grazie ancora!!!

Nice intro, sir
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the intro!!!
Amazing test! Your IR made a huge difference in both the Ampero and the GE200. Seems to me the MG-30 faired the best against the real amp, overall, with and without your great IR.
Hi, thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video! Thank you also for the feedback for my IRs!
Grazie Leo
Does this units take pedals well?
Can they be used with OD, Distortions?
MG-30 Si , yes, it takes pedals on the FX loop
Listening to this on monitor headphones and it's incredible how the Ampero gets close to the real Plexi and not that far from the real Twin. It's on another league. The NUX feels very thin in comparison. The Ampero superior Dynamic Range really speaks out here.
Hi Paulo, thank you for sharing you opinion!
Have you tried using a fuzz pedal in front of any of these? I know it is a weird request, but I've found modelers have trouble with fuzzes.
Hi, unfortunately I have not tried...therefore I can't tell from direct experience...maybe in a future video...thank you for your suggestion!
@@LeoGibsonGtr I understand. I take it you don't play much doom metal or stoner rock? Haha. Great video, btw.

Hi, thank you!
The MG 30 looks like a very neat little backup unit. However, when listening to the MG 30 around RUclips, it sounds somewhat midrangey? In comparisons it always sounds more high middy, and somewhat nasal, than the others...
