Wow! Nostalgia trip. Loading this on cassete tape, into my atari 800, as a kid. Oh... the memories. Never sodding beat it though. Thanks for the memories.
I was under the impression this didn't have an ending with Stay Puft! Always figured the game just stopped once Zuul and Clortho made it to the building, then the game tallied up how much money you made/lost and gave you a code to restart the game with more money. I was half right.
On the map screen, you need to drive over the floating ghosts to stop them from reaching the Zuul building. That’s what the vacuum cleaner on the car is for. That keeps the city PK levels from accelerating too quickly. I could never get past Stay Puft, great run at the end!
I still play this. My ghosts are white on the main and capture screen. Slimmer is always green. When the ghosts speed up then they blink between yellow and white. Best to have a piece of paper an a pen/pencil handy for the end code. Tha way you can get the code and start a new game with more money. :) I tend to make sure I get all 4 ghosts before selecting a building to catch slimmers.
Finished this multiple times as a kid back in the 80's. Thank goodness I had it on the 65XE and not the NES version which I heard was absolutely terrible.
I think it's apparent that the best 8-bit version of this game was this one for the Atari computers. A great game, great music, tight controls, fun gameplay.. I love it up to this day. BTW when catching ghosts - I found it easier to put the trap as close to one side as possible (typically left), bring another guy (both are now facing left) and then trigger the beam so that the ghost gets in between two parallel beams. The guy on the (typically) right side pushes the ghost gently towards the other guy, of course. This way I got much higher percentage of ghosts caught than using the way in the video (trap in the middle with beams pointing at each other).
Lol never knew how to play, always tried to avoid the ghosts on the drive didn't realise you could capture them! No idea what all the ghosts on the city screen meant. The end seems anticlimactic though, just walking through his legs lol
The Atari XL/XE was using same graphics display technology seen in the 400/800/5200, which would have completely replaced the Atari 2600 in the late 70's, if it wasn't for the success of Space Invaders. Many of the games look far worse than a Famicom/NES conversion, because there's 5+ years between technologies. It's like comparing a PSone to a Dreamcast. Unfortunately, this is the laziest port I've ever seen. The ghostbusters in the 2600 version look better than this.
After 32 years, I got to see the ending! Thanks.
Awesome.
😂same

These old game were just king at shite abrupt endings after hours of agonizing struggle.
A friend of mine always mocked at those ending saying "Congratulations, you are a winner..."
Good lord I’ve not seen this in a long time. This brings back very fond memories
It's old school.
Thanks for the memories. I enjoyed that game, too.
Great to see this again,I loved this game, though I was so young didn't really understand it! Thanks for the upload.
cominup85 Glad you liked it :)
Ah 65XE memories as a kid 😍. Loved this game along with the other classics, Boulder Dash, Asteroids and......Centipede! ❤
Thanks for posting, that takes me back . . .

I intentionally didn't do it more than a couple of times, so the PK would rise faster, otherwise the video would've been too long.

Played this one quite a bit BITD... saw the movie in the theater in '84 and loved having the game on my Atari 130XE.
Prehistoric ATARI game

geeh i had this one the C64, still a funy game.

Damn I've never ended this game :(
I think Activision was best in 80's
Great!
This was way better than what the NES had to offer
It rocked.
@@JCsChannel If you want to see a game that was night-and-day better on Atari over NES, just look at M.U.L.E.
crossing the streams at the end!
Why are the Ghostbusters blue and yellow thats so weird
And the account number?
@CFFNC Old school gaming :P
it was the best when i was a child :( kurna az sie lezka w oku kreci !
I remember how I never understood how is it possible, that I brought that account number to my friend, and it worked.
There is a video talking about it on youtube... it was a coded hex number which contained your name and the amount of money you had...
How the hell does this look better than the NES?? Also I could never figure out how to use the ghost vacuum...
You pressed space.
0:00 Ghostbusters hahahahahahahahahahaa
That looks... fun...
It was back in 1984!
Dammit man, drive over the ghosts. :o
Though, I realize, speed run.
Yeah, otherwise video would've been too long.
"Ghostbusters HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Q saen de juegos¡¡ generación de cristal ¡¡😉🤙
This is the only atari game that i know that has a voiceline
There’s also one in Mirax Force and a couple in the Sherlock Holmes game.
Kennedy Approach had some digitised speech, too.
And there was a very short burst in Kissin' Kousins
@@hamphlet Beserk also has the arcade speech in
And don't forget Whomper Stomper, had speech to!
yoo
👻
hard game
Yeah, took a long time to beat back in the day.
its great as pacman :-) !(;:-D ☺
avgn sucks but this is this the only avgn game i like
0:00 ghoth bufers halahahahahahahahaaaa
not the bestgame i believe ,but still 8 bit-power
Ghostbusters!
Disappointing considering the Atari's capabilities
the NES version looks better than this and that was bad. for a computer this shoulda been better than at least the SMS version.

it just makes me mad because i know they coulda done better
the SMS version came out 5 years after this version. all home computer versions were very similar. Atari XL and C64 were 2 of the first ports.
