This is bringing the concept of resampling to a new level for me. This is inspiring and has brought me plenty of new ideas! Thank you! Much ❤ from Belgium.
I really like this creative process too. I tend to limit my choices even more, sticking to just softube amp room, softube modular and plogue chipcrusher for FX processing. It’s like having my ideal hardware setup right in my bedroom and just having to make do with that.
thanks for checking it out! i'm glad you mentioned softube modular, as i've had that plugin forever but basically never used it because it always ran like trash on my mac when i'd use in tracks, so i've forgotten about it lol... but now that won't be a problem with resampling!
This workflow is great to create your own bread 'n butter sounds to be used in the composing fase, I very much agree this keeps you in the zone instead of being busy too much with creation of sounds and automating stuff. I noticed the same pitfall when not using a restricted workflow with limited gear (e.g. soundmodule with few editing options).
Yah, it can be a really big game changer for certain producers. I love experimenting with stuff… and it’s a fantastic workflow if you’ve got some hardware synths/pedals/samplers/fx! Thanks so much for checking out the vid!
Hello freind, thanks for another great video I would like more tutorials like this and resampling, also can I ask, do you know how to load virus sounds into serum ? Somebody told me it's possible but I can't figure it out or find any information about it, take care ❤
Hi there, you can’t load virus presets into Serum; but you can find wavetables from the virus synths and load them into serum. Have you checked out the Osirus/Ostirus VST yet? That’s an extremely accurate and free virus vst.
It would've been interesting to see techniques that are equivalent and similarly limited to what was available back in the 90's. Production technology wasn't as advanced as it is nowadays. Everyone and his grandma can use Serum and all those hyper-modern VST plugins to create a squelching bass in a few seconds. The approach of a 90's producer was vastly different though and it pretty much shows in the sound. Your bass is nice but it doesn't have that 90's Techstep sound at all. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's just my honest opinion. Keep up with the vids tho
I hear ya, I mainly wanted to illustrate my workflow and the concepts of resampling. I’m hoping some people may find it useful. Thanks for checking out the video though!
I was not making Techstep or Jungle in the 90s, but I was making Hip Hop and House. This is the same workflow that was used back then, but with a modern computer setup. We would sample from vinyl or an Instrument into the MPC or other sampler, chop it up, play with knobs, sometimes record it back out into Cool Edit, fuck it up with EFX, and then record it back into the MPC. All the while, back and forth, using a mixer doing EQ settings and driving it to phatten it up. Yes, everything was a lot slower and a lot more of a pain back then, but that was our only option. A lot of fresh producers do not even know what Re-sampling is. Distorted, Filtered, Re-sampled, Distorted, Filtered, Play with Buttons, Twist Knobs, Re-sampled, Distorted, Filtered, Re-sampled, this is all we did to come up with interesting sounds and I think he did a great job demo-ing that. Maybe he can do a Re-sampling demo using some hardware, that would be a nice trip down memory lane LOL.

yes agreed!!!
I love resampling! I probably the most underutilized tool in modern music. Great video mate :)✌
Thanks for checking it out my friend, glad you enjoyed it!

@@arcologies Indeed, I actually bought a Boss VF-1 a few months ago to route my hardware devices thru it to distort stuff. Good times. Cheers!
Lots of great info
thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for intro to renoise
thanks for checking it out :). renoise is the greatest!

I have tried it and it acts unstable for me sadly, been considering getting viper, thanks for explaining its the wavetables that you load ❤
