Been undoing a lot of PO's hack jobs on my '71 CB350 (one example, someone cut off the throttle cable at the "y" and locked the CV carbs wide open with to air cleaners... took a rubber mallet/wood dowel to make them move...) and VM30's are on my bench for install after engine clean/paint. Great video. Yall at DCC have been a great help/parts source for me the last year. Got my Brass seat pan painted up and ready for install. Keep up the awesome work and great parts selection. Rock on.
Nice explanation of the model differences and nice to point out the accelerator pumps. My only observation of all "new" carbs is all the rough edges and surfaces on castings compared to good old 70's units. The visual finish/appeal needs some scrutiny from their QC folks, but if they run like a bear who really cares.

personally idk just cuz of the change in elevation. you should look at something like lectron carbs, or smart carb, they're a bit more expensive but pretty awesome, especially for something where you have huge elevation changes
Even if you find the Mikuni name stamped on the carburetor, how can you tell which Mikuni carb you have, a MV36, or MV38? Also, is there a bigger Mikuni than a VN38? Thx
Did the VM 30 s for my Honda CM 400T rebuild. It starts ........awesome .....but with the choke levers down and and maybe for 3 or 4 min. it runs and quits. Now i gotta turn screws or something ?
Can you tell me if the tm carb is taller than a VM carb of same size. Specifically how they differ from bore center to the top of the slide tower. For my project there is very little room on top of the carb due to the exhaust pipe crossing over there. Currantly I have a 34mm mikuni and I would like to try a 36mm flat slide. Thank you bro.

Hi, great video I´ve been told that the TM and the RS series are exactly the same carburetors, with the only difference being that the TM is made for single use while the RS is made to fit with a total of four carburetors. Can you confirm if thats correct? Reason I´m asking is that one of my RS36 carburetors needs a new mixing body wich seems impossible to find as a spare part, and since I can´t find a place where I can buy just one RS36 carburetor I would have to pay 800-1000$ for a new set with four carburetors. But a well known motorcycle mechanic around here told me that the TM36 is the same carb and that it could be modified to fit with my three RS36´s, at a cost of about 300$. So I would just like someone with good knowledge of the Mikuni carbs to confirm that this is correct before I place my order on a new TM36 carb. Best regards Marcus
Not to be super contrary, but you didn't actually explain how to identify the specific model of Mikuni carb on a bike. For example. I am specifically trying to figure out which Mikuni carb, or rather what series, is on the 90-94 Suzuki DR250s. Do you know by chance?
