Taking off backwards brings me back to when you used to be able to do a cool backwards takeoff with the Lazer. You can get some way cooler kills with this jet though. If you position yourself right you can toggle vtol facing the ground above your target and rain down hell but they can't look up high enough to get you. Haven't had fun flying in this game in a while, but this things a lotta fun. Edit: just got to the part of the video where you do it
Heres some things I found flying the Raiju and doing some research: - You can hover in VTOL upside down and hold the brakes, you will fall down very, very slow - You can do a whole barrelroll while being in VTOL - Due to its high speed you can easily do cobras (nose up and one of the 2 rudder inputs while full speeding) - You can combine the cobra with VTOL and do the legendary Thrust Vectoring maneuver - This one might be a bug: Normal MGs have a really hard time destroying the Raiju, it seems to take ages to disable the Raiju but from what Ive seen it can not explode (except armor bug hits). Shooting the cockpit should always be priority when using any normal-MG based jet/plane Some people might think you will need to learn how to dogfight especially for this update. It is quite useful and fun indeed but there is no need to force yourself to it. If you want to be safe it is actually way better to just drive some armored car around. I still believe most players wont be able to use the VTOL to fight ground targets since explosives, especially railgun, exist and your wing will be visible to the player before your guns can point towards him. The very loud engine also alarms players even if you are in stealth mode. Hiding behind buildings will only work in some cases is my opinion.
I don't think the last point would be very true bruv, reason being that The Raiju's wing profile is very thin, and it doesn't have any missiles or tanks sticking out like the lazer and hydra, maybe a rocket prediction, but not the rail gun, specially considering that It actually takes 2 rail gun shots

I would add its lights to the engine sound : They made it so that in the night its navigation lights are way more visible than other planes which makes it not obvious but definitely visible if you're looking for it That's why i love being in stealth at night as i'm constantly listening to an additional jet sound or odd lights in the sky
I knew that you would change your mind on the plane, its basic capabilites are enough to easily become the ultimate air to air/ground superiority plane. Who knows which feature we're still missing from it, lobbies will be funnier.
What Uversus saying is extremely accurate because the Raiju is a mix of the Scramjet, Lazer, Buzzard...which its kinda why the Raiju is gonna be the new high tier pvp vehicle in this game
This is an amazing guide! I was practicing the scramjet technique when it got released trying to figure out different ways for getting ground targets but this guide has given me more to work with because I don’t always hit my shots thanks Uversus😎

when i first saw the new jet changes i thought it was weird but after looking at everything I actually like all they've done. Ground play got an indirect buff and air to air combat is more important, the game feels a lot more balanced like this. Everyone complaining about the hydra and lazer cannons just getting fucked clearly does not have a savage. Get a savage and you've got an armoured memebeam of a cannon that can throw missiles for hours on end with zero cooldown, and terrifying agility and speed for its size. The bane of mkll's and occasional lazers.
I've gotten a few kills by going VTOL upside down directly above a ground player and coming to a stop upside down, then tilting to a nose dive and opening weapons and using cannons.. When you're upside down and tilt vertical, you descend very slowly if done correctly, and have more than enough time to not only obliterate the ground, but also recover and fly away.. or just tilt back and stay in VTOL.. Edit* similar to what is described at 6:20, except all you have to do to go nose down vertical, is hit VTOL upside down while holding down thrust, then tilt nose down..
just use the vtol mode to go upside down and use the missiles takes a while to get used to but homing missiles rarely hit you and you can use Lt to slow your speed down upside down
once u play gta v on pc after playing console since launch 2013 it feels like such a breathe of fresh air with just the high fps and higher graphics alone.

I can't believe people said this plane is not good at killing ground targets. I, as a person who could barely get a kill on a ground target with the lazer before it was nerfed, can easily kill people on ground with this
Just because YOU can’t properly use the Raiju doesn’t mean it’s bad for everybody. In fact, since this jet has come out, I have only lost dogfights via ramming into each other. Once you master the VTOL stall maneuver, and realise you can point the nose ANYwhere you want, you won’t lose. It’s too fast for anything to catch up to you, even the pyro cant out turn it. The explosive cannons aren’t terrible once you get the hang of them, and that also puts the Raiju above the better dog fighters simply because it deals more damage per shot landed. And then there’s the stealth, Jesus Christ. It’s a thing a beauty, one of the few things rockstar finally delivered on PROPERLY. It took them 10 years to give us a stealth jet but hey, it’s here.

@@hipplel best counter so far for me has been explosive rounds. If you don’t have explosive rounds, just hide under something and continue to snipe. They’ll get bored not hitting you with the cannons or missiles. The armor is insane though for a jet so it takes quite a few shots.
I don't use headphones but i have a decent sound system and use the sound of the engine to damage grifers aircrafts from the ground with the explosive sniper, not killing them, just ruin their aircraft over and over again.
The only downside to the cannons being weak is people who hide in armored cars in free aim. They kill you then run to the other side of the map in a car that can’t be locked on.
Here's the difference though with the Raiju compared to the hydra and lazer to use it properly and effectively you need to be highly skilled in utilizing its abilities

Chrome would be the best for blending in, mostly being up high in the air, or especially at night. However Instead of blending in, you want to disrupt the pilots ability to identify what he’s dealing with till you merge. I use the glitched camo, it looks a lot like the SU-57’s disruption camo irl. The patterns make it hard for the eye to follow at times, especially when passing underneath your opponent with the ground below.
They should have Reduced the fire rate on the death beams because right now there's absolutely no reason to use the legacy jets. Also they should buff the B11 cannon
yeah, i have absolutely no clue why he didn't even mention the railgun like people wont be using it. you are bound to be hit with a railgun while fighting in this jet.

I found that glitch as well when u shut off engine in vtol, you can fall from max height like that and your plane will touch ground softly, everytime 😂
Even at low altitude the Raiju can outrun missiles in a straight line due to sheer top speed and acceleration (acceleration alone doesnt always save you)
Are you saying attitude or altitude? It’s interesting, attitude refers to the roll of a an aircraft, altitude refers to how high above the ground it (or sea level) it is. And pitch refers to how high/ low the tail or nose is.

well it isnt a hear your lock on and shoot kind of vehicle like the mk2 so most players wont use it that effectively.

A way to bypass this is to use thermal vision in the aircrafts.

the cannons do like homing rocket or rpg damage on direct hits to vehicles. vtol will make short work of imani tech vehicles.

when you said backflip takeoff i thought it was gonna be like the old lazers backflip takeoff

I prefer using the rockets without lock on . Flying Mechanic feels like sparrow in hover mode
I've been doing the Scramjet strats, but I need to practice some more.
