Creator should definitely target M16 for it's screen and CPU while the G15 is a solid all rounder. In the end it's more about what you need. These two machines are only different in the heart but deliver almost similar performance. You're not wrong getting both of them.

@Joel Conolly Sure this works between the M16 and G15, but personally I'm considering between the M16 and the Flow X16, where the Flow X16 has a nicer screen, so I'm super confused between having better performance in Adobe suite as opposed to having slightly better battery life, and a stylus capable screen

Also noticed few drops in temps because of their armoury crate updates. What a beast of a machine for something that doesn't screen "Im a fcking gaming laptop" One gripe I have for this though is the rubbery keyboard deck. Based on experience, those materials doesnt age well and will end up tearing if you don't take care of it properly.

I tend to M16, as I don't play any games and battery life also isn't that important as I mostly would use it plugged in. Intel > AMD for audio, generally, because 1) more CPU performance = always better, 2) Thunderbolt support gives you more options for professional-level interfaces, and 3) Intel chipsets usually have fewer bugs for audio. Obviously, though, Apple >>>>>> either if you actually care about fan noise, since even Apple laptops with fans are completely silent during audio production.

Picked up the 2022 asus M16 the other day because it was on sale at best buy for like $1100 from like $1650. Would've got the G15 with the slightly better display resolution for the same price but out of stock quickly. I must say I do like the M16. The screen size and aspect ratio is great, very bright, and the colors are pretty good. Better than my old 2020 G14. I will say I wish it was a QHD display, and the disappointment is the website claims a 1600p display, but it's really only 1200p. Unless there's a secret way to set it to 1600 that I don't know about bc the max setting is 1200. No dedicated camera cover/off button, and the camera is absolutely terrible (only like 0.9mp for photos, but 720p video) but I don't use pc cams since I have a phone. It's a very nice laptop, thin for It's size, enough ports, great display (for FHD), and performs very well. In regards to wifi, surprised it automatically connect to my hotspot within seconds of turning it on.
I don't recommend gaming in battery mode which drops frame and you only have access to turbo mode when plugged in. Still no function key, and speakers sound great just need more bass.
As for the rear fans blasting the screen.....it doesn't matter. I had the G14 for over 2 years with heavy gaming and didn't affect screen at all.
It's a fantastic gaming laptop and the size/thinness is great. Significantly brighter than my old G14

We're only about 5 months away from CES, I'm hoping/expecting next year's g15 gets the g14 treatment from this year: vapor chamber, zen 4, next gen GPU's, 16:10 screen. I think that'll be the one to get, even if it increases in price slightly. I was excited about lenovo, but Asus actually releases laptops on time, their pricing is straightforward and armory crate is the best laptop control software IMO.

Agree with your expectations but I think the 16:9 is here to stay. The way that ASUS is currently positioning their product is this: A laptop for on-the-go work but also can game well? G14 (AMD CPU + AMD GPU). A thin and light laptop that is laser focused on gaming? G15 (which explains why they also include a 240Hz option) (AMD CPU + NVIDIA GPU). A laptop for gaming and content creation? M16 (Intel CPU + NVIDIA GPU). The fact is that 16:9 resolution is still superior for gaming, and those looking for a 16:10 screen will pushed toward the more expensive M16.

G15 will never be 16:10, only if they change its name to G16. What makes the M16 16 inches is the 16:10 aspect. It’s just a G15 with taller screen, same width

You can thank Asus poor power management for your low CB23 score on battery. G14 and G15 models with 6X00HS processors can have power management issues. My G14 sometimes locks the CPU power to 35W and total power to 80w no matter what mode I’m running, only a full reboot can fix it. I can reproduce it 100% if I plug and unplug USBC power.

I bought both laptops, because I wanted to decide by myself which I will keeep and which Ill return and I didnt want to rely on youtube reviewers experience only because they often dont mention important things. G15 (AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS, RTX 3070 Ti, 16 GB RAM, 240Hz, 2560x1440) vs M16 (i7-12700H, RTX 3060, 16 GB RAM, 165Hz, 1920x1200). So there is my experience:
    1) Both laptops have great speakers for its class and suitable for watching movies or videos on youtube, etc. But I must say unfortunatelly that speakers are not the same. G15 speakers have better base and are little bit more pleasent to listen. G15 speakers are the first laptop speakers where I didnt have the need to compare them with my Macbook 13 pro, which means they are very similar, or at least G15 speakers are not worse I would say. M16 speakers are little bit bellow my Macbook, but still if you dont compare them I think you will be satisfied with them.
    2) Keyboard backlight on M16 is stronger than on G15 (its lowest level is as strong as G15 highest level of backlight). I prefer G15 backlight, especially in dark room.
    3) Diplay on M16 is very bright, its lowest point could be even lower (especially in dark room). Here again I prefer G15 which is not that bright. In my case G15 has better resolution, but I personally think Full HD on M16 is enough.
    4) M16 is quieter on performance mode when you are doing basic stuff like web browsing, The fans are almost idle or at least dont disturb me. On G15 I can get the same result but only through manual mode fan control
    5) Integrated graphics is better on G15, some old games like Diablo II and Command and Conquer Generals were much smoother there (in comparison with Iris Xe on M16). But since both laptops have mux switch, this is not an issue anymore. You can switch on only discrete graphics and these games run smooth on both machines...
If you have some other questions?

@@tonyn5026 yup. Though the Legion 5 pro got lighter and more compact compared to last year's, the g15 and m16 is still more portable.
But right now the Legions are cheaper than the m16 and g15.
Especially the Legion 7 Slim, which is smaller in size than both but has lower power(the 3060 is 100w)
The regular Legion 7s though, they are only 5mm-ish bigger in depth but portability is portability.

Im stuck between multiple models in this performance category. Im a college student going into computer engineering and will need good performance in the adobe suite and potentially CAD design. Im also heavy chrome user with 20ish tabs on a moderate day while doing productivity work, which also means I really want a 16" screen. Problem is, battery life is really important to me and a large screen and beefy specs dont work well with that. Ive been trying to find a machine that will last as close to a full day as possible when doing web browsing productivity work, and easily drill through more advanced works when I need it. (At the cost of battery life, of course). Basically, I want an M16 with an AMD processor or a macbook that can run Windows.
Right now Im eyeing the Asus flow x16, with the two main drawbacks being a meh hinge at best and what I think is an utterly stupid design choice if a micro sd card slot. (Why are so many manufacturers turning to that? Ive seen so many content-creation oriented devices implimenting that and I just dont understand why. Ive exclusively used full sized sd cards when shooting so I just get mad when I see a $2000+ laptop with 100% P3 coverage but no full sized card slot.) There is plenty of room on all Asus' latest laptops (M15, M16, Duo 16, Flow x16) for a full sized slot and the fact it isnt there baffles and aggravates me because I need a dongle for a laptop that has all the other ports I want.
Once reviews for the x16 come out Im inclined to think that'll be my pick. Battery life seems good and it has a great screen and all the power I need. But that eGPU port takes up space Id rather have for more USB ports or something because at least Id use it then.

buy a cheap one to offset the constant layoffs in the tech industry. Ask me how I know. A friend of mine who also works at a "top" tech company fully paid for his 2 kids to go to college. With one exception. Nothing in the tech field. These companies hire fresh college students for big salaries, but there is little job security and you can easily be replaced by an H1B for half the cost. They might do half the work, but they can hire multiple for an American salary. Its a rough field to be in. Good luck! Oh and its rough applying too, hiring managers get hundreds or thousands of applicants online and might spend 10 seconds on your resume, skipping everything and just filtering keywords. Really makes you feel like a cog rather than a person. Well that was a rant I wasn't expecting to type even 1 minute ago..... 😁

    • @Jsteeeez
      @Jsteeeez 2 года назад

Intel historically has had a much larger MDF (marketing development fund) and pays out more money to these manufactures to use intel processors in their flagship models. I am sure AMD has increased their own MDF efforts in the last couple years as AMD literally did not exist in the premium laptop space until a few years ago, but intel is such a large percentage of the mobility market that they have more incentive to keep that money flowing. Also, intel has always created a reference platform (basically a laptop that other vendors can use as stock or modify and sell under their own brand) which allows the vendors of these laptops to basically cut a huge amount of R&D costs of designing their own laptops and pass it off to intel. Again I am sure AMD is now doing this, but intel has been doing this for over a decade and has the systems in place, they have the contacts in these companies that know who at intel to call, and really has created these turn key intel laptop solutions that let companies slap their brand on a laptop intel designed without paying much at all in R and D costs.
