Yes, it is rough in Brazil to justify paying that much money. E eu sei isso, como eu estou morando no Brasil. Mas fazer o que, ne? O jogo quando sair provavelmente vai ter servidores BR que vai ter precos mais acesiveis.
120 is a lot anyway, but i can imagine in brazil hope you win a giveaway or they do some open weekend at some point if you are not gonna buy it worst case, see you at launch/release
Awesome, because that's exactly why I put this video out, I thought it would be useful for a lot of people who are asking that very question. Would you prefer future videos to be a bit more in depth, or is the simple, shorter version like this better?
There is no need to make up your mind at this point though. There is at least a year to run before it even gets into early access. People are in right now because the developers are using a customer focused philosophy, the game is still really in development, more so than other games when they reach Alpha2.
Brother, I appreciate your content. However, as also a dev I have to disagree with you about some of your points. They should be paying you to play test a game, not the other way around. @Neeko2lo was right about this one.
Hey Grapplr, these dedicated RUclips videos are really good. Would love to see more of this side of you where you are not constantly multitasking playing a game while interacting with and reacting to the chat.
Thanks dude. Well, they're "pseudo dedicated", I still did them on livestream. Usually the intro takes like 10 tries, cause it feels so forced, but once I get started, the rest of it comes pretty naturally, since I feel like I'm talking to chat.
I've backed it in like 2019 or something, which got me this alpha key, a key to a game i forgot about after seeing the turtle pace. I've downloaded and launched it yesterday. It looks like a f*cking 2013 game, with 2013 animations. This is on an upgraded engine to Unreal 5. It took me back to my younger years, very nostalgic. Had to ALT + F4 tf out of it after using my ability twice. If this is what people are hyped about after playing/seeing the footage, god bless you all. I could find at least a hundred of other ways to better spend my time playing video games. I am convinced it'll either come out in 2030, or never. Don't know which scenario is more probable.
@@GrappLr These are obviously my impressions about how the game looks and feels in 2024, as an Unreal Engine 5 game. Visually it looks like a school project, and it's a game that a whole studio has been working on for 6+ years. I guess people just have different standards. After all, games like Runescape, or Tibia are still popular today. But those were the games that people who had cheap PCs used to play 20 years ago, in my school days. Like you said, to each their own. Enjoy. Maybe they will upgrade the visuals AGAIN, in a few years. Just don't hit me up with the "games are played for gameplay, not visuals", cause i've been playing PC games since late 90s :)
Force Gaming has a video called "Bad News For Ashes of Creation". Basically, 8 years into development, and still 4 years away from finishing. Content = 20% of 1 biome, in a game that's reported to have 18 different biomes on release.
@@MrAgmoore This is by strategy, and WoW took 5 years in 2005. If you cant understand how development time for software has grown in the last 20 years, then you need to do some research. This game is going to out-feature current wow when it comes out, so you could argue that WoW has been in development for 20 years, more than double that of AoC.
It's why I emphasize that there should be no rush to buy the key until November 8th. Gives people 2 weeks to realize. this from watching streams/videos. Usually, it's better for people to see for themselves that the game is not complete, than telling them that it's not.
He shouldn't have to explain that it's in alpha when alpha is in giant letters right under the title. If someone is too dense to know what an alpha is, they shouldn't spend money on it. Simple.
Its too expensive for a unfinished game we wont see in the next 5+ years and sadly i hate forced pvp ,as soon as there a more players or on release its just gonna be a mass slaughter everywhere. But good luck to you and nice review
So a few points: 1. Yes, there are instances of forced PVP. You can't avoid this all the time. If this is something you hate, than it's a strong and valid reason not to like the game. That said, there are also strong mechanics set in game to prevent mass slaughter (against non flagged combatants), so I suspect that mass PVP will only really be happening in areas that are permaflagged (such as oceans, and during caravan events), and much more infrequently on land. 2. It is very expensive for an unfinished game, absolutely. I tried my best to answer the "is it worth" question by splitting it into two other related questions. It's impossible to answer the original question, as that's very subjective. Either way, thanks for the kind comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the review!
People are too soft. I played MUDs ( text-based games that were precursors to Ultima Online / World of Warcraft ). One of them had high risk, high reward zones called Chaotic Player Killing zones ( CPK ). If you died in there to a player, it was full strip loot, meaning that you could have all of the gear that you were wearing stolen ( just like in real life ). Eventually they changed it to 3-piece loot ( meaning that you could only have 3 pieces of gear stolen maximum ). After my clan killed this very noisy guy ( who wouldn't shut up on general chat ) I whispered to him that it was amusing to see him waddling around like Elizabeth Shue in "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995). I read that Amazon's New World was supposed to had striploot mechanics, but the developers caved at last minute, but that ended up breaking the game mechanics, because the entire foundation of the game was built on it.
W video, been following this game for years. Loved the honest suggestions, wish more content creators would format these kinds of videos like this. Normally I just feel like its someone trying to sell me the game.
Thanks dude. I tried to present it in the most truthful way I could, although that can be difficult when it comes to discussions that are very subjective in nature, such as "worth/cost". Obviously I'm hopeful that the game is successful because I want to play it and I want it to succeed, and that includes people buying and participating in the game, but I try to keep that bias away from videos and content I make.
@@GrappLr I think you definitely accomplished what you were trying to do. I never felt pressured into buying the alpha and you answered a lot of questions I had about the gameplay without me even having to ask. So yeah, W.
man its so nice to listen to you speak about a game like this def not game for me tho but really good video maybe look at KCD2 as czech i have to recommend
I actually played Kingdom Come: D, so it's a game I'd definitely consider. But I didn't get too far, as I had decided to go pure range/bow, and that game was very punishing unless you played Melee :(
@@GrappLr As a long-time watcher of yours, I have to appeal to you with everything I've got (this comment). You definitely should give it another chance, nevertheless, I will watch anything u decide to play.
It's a hard video to make, because the question of "worth" is subjective, and differs from person to person. That's why I split the question into two different aspects. I don't think you're wrong, if looked at from a different perspective.
Atm draw distance is severely limited when too many people are around. I believe though that they havnt implemented server meshing yet, which hopefully resolves that
I’m shocked I haven’t heard more people making EQ and FFXI comparisons for ashes. It’s a slow burn social game. Some people love slow burns (like me - been playing classic FFXI forever at this point).
@CestPasFaux-kt9zq I have no idea what you’re talking about. I was merely saying that I am surprised other content creators don’t compare it to other slower progression games like classic EQ and FFXI
Hi grapp, It’s rlly nice to see that ur replying to every single comment and all within a fast time as well, shows a lot of dedication and engagement with your fans. I started watching you a few years ago on lor, what’s ur plan going forward with the channel? Since lor pvp is pretty much dead
Yeah, basically, the keys give you access starting on the 8th of November. The 120 dollar key that is, specifically. The other keys are for phases 2 and 3. Phase 2 is some time in December, and Phase 3 starts some time in May. Glad I could help. If you have any ideas for other content you'd like to see that's AoC related, do let me know, I've got lots of ideas for what to do next, but doing MMORPG content is new for me, so any recommendations are appreciated!
@@GrappLr The key will cost me $180 AUD, connecting to a server in the U.S., until an OCE server or SEA server is up and running. So I'm going to wait, but at least I'm up-to-date now. thanks :)
@@Sutex0sofar Nothing wrong with waiting for the OCE servers to be up in the future, and deciding again then! I'll keep putting out content, so if you're interested in popping in occasionally and seeing where the game is at, you're always welcome!
I was shocked when I read the Video Title, did a quick google and was relieved that the 120$ is for playtesters only. Honestly speaking Grapp, I miss the time where every gamer has the name "Kirito" as their gamertags. That's how goated the concept of MMO SAO had, at least in the anime.
Two entirely different games. AoC has zero P2W, TnL is fully P2W. AoC is a sandbox mmorpg, TnL is a full on themepark MMORPG. AoC is in early Alpha, TnL is fully developed.
Good vid mate, was informative. There are way too many people thinking the alpha test is early access or something. This is a true alpha, it’s nowhere near done. Save your money and see if it’s good when they actually release it.
Game looks nice, but I m prefering GW2 _(no monthly fee)_ - its nice, you can group with other players in the world and achive bigger goals rather than be scared of pvp ambush all time. I did played WoW Classic in first release on PvP server and it was pain. I want the game for chilling without stress, do collect herbs, killing few mobs 1 hour for 1 rare item ...like, in my job I have a lot of stress, no need more it in another world. Even WoW PvP retail servers have option, to turn off PvP _(you cant attack to other players and be attacked out of nowhere)_ - to my honest opinion, its future of AoC, maybe not in alpha or beta, but on release, when world will be flooded by new players.
Great video, but I do think current price (both EA keys and subscription model) is too steep to justify, at least for me. Especially since there are cheaper alternatives on the market.
Under Alpha Two key for 120$ it says 1 month play. Yet you said if you buy it now for 120$, you have access until its launched (2 years). Which is it, im confused? Thanks in advance
I don't know about "worth it" since it's all subjective but for me it is possibly. however, I'm starved for an MMO so maybe I may mostly because I'm indecisive and I've never played an old-school MMO like this before besides old WoW and ffxi, so I'd like to try out everything the game has to offer class wise and all of that prior to launch so I know what I want to do because I tend to become indecisive and do very little and redo things in the early parts of an MMO and then I burn myself out. I didn't with WoW classic when playing 3-4 characters at once and other games the same, but with alpha and beta I have tons of time. I think getting into just the beta is probably the "best" however I'm interested in playing probably a year before beta and it comes with a month sub and $15 store credit so I'm a bit more ok with it. They would probably charge $80 for beta anyways. I still feel like it should be a tad cheaper. Around the $90 range with the 1 month sub and store credit.
Really useful, thanks! I dont think I will be buying this after hearing is subscription based, 15 dollars a month to play after realase is really expensive (Latam problem).
Understandable. I live in Brazil, and lived in Central America before that, so I absolutely understand. There is GOOD news though, they do expect to launch Latam servers once the game is fully launched (after Alphas and Betas), and those server will most likely have regional prices that are much cheaper. This is still probably 2+ years away, but it does mean that this problem is only temporary!
@@GrappLr Oh thats actually really interesting, 2 years is a really long time and many things can change, if they have regional prices on realese then I dont mind paying then, but right now for me is a no to the paid beta test. Also, I didnt know you were from brazil! I go over there almost every year, I'm from Uruguay, really cool :). Thanks a lot for the game info man
@@GrappLr You already answered my question. They're NOT making logs/showcases about the game's PvP. everything they've said on this subject is years old, from back when the were brainstorming game features. At this point, their talk of a ""corruption system and bounty system"" are Sean Murray features. If I were covering the game I would always point out that the AoC PvP systems are purely hypothetical.
Absolutely amazing game, finally something to look forward to. Every single aspect in it appeals to me, and at last, the nostalgia for Lineage 2 will be fulfilled. Aoc will be best game ever weeee.
Hear me out though... Whether you buy it today, or on November 7th, you'll not get to play any earlier. So best bet would really be to wait a few days, watch some streams, and be sure that this is something you will spend time on. We still don't know how well the Alpha 2 launch will go. Will the servers be ready for the influx of testers?
@@GrappLr Don't worry, I am planning on watching this dude called Grapplr play before I seal the deal. I trust him, he helped me go from 120KG to 73KG or pure muscle.
i would say most important thing ti know when u buying it that its not a finished game far from it character wipes can happen ever whole server wipes if needed soo if ppl look for an mmo that they wanna play 10 hours a day this is not it yet.. maybe after phase 3 but i agree watch some streams and videos before buying for sure
Yes, that is my concern also, that people will jump in expecting a finished product, which is why I tried to emphasis that there's no rush to buy, they have 2+ weeks of content to make up their minds.
i mean whoever is on the shop page, you can see the world "ALPHA" probably 5 times at least and then also the high price what im trying to say is: whoever spends this much for an obvious alpha, without looking for more information and/or doing research on lt and expects a full game, is just stupid and the opinion of this person might not be of relevance for the future of this game anyway but you are right that it will definitely happen with some people at the same time it wont matter that much, since the core audience already knows
@@chickenbob562 i agree whoever pays 100$+ and doesnt even check whats hes getting deserves to lose that money.. if u checked asmongold video when they announced prices of those keys u will understand what im trying to say ... his viewers and he thinks that intrepid should play them to test the game haha and idiotic ideas like that and trust me those kid of ppl will be the first one crying when their charcater wipes
That indeed seems to be the case. It gives access to Alpha 2 (Phases 1, 2 and 3), and also gives access to Beta. Game lunch will require 15 dollars a month to play, that's the business model, it's a monthly sub.
Keep in mind at the beginning alpha 2 is ONLY weekend testing, meaning you can't play as much as you want - only Friday-Sunday. Their current plan is to move to 5+days of testing on December 20th 2024 and 24/7 testing on May 1st 2025. And you should expect frequent wipes of progress, so don't expect playing the same character for two years.
don't care about the mechanical gameplay, I want to hear about the sociopolitical tools. Can I hold meaningful titles? Represent and be accountable to other players? Teach a school of philosophy or religion? Hold involved custom community games? Organise and celebrate festivals? Incite a rebellion in a neighbouring power? These are the parts of an MMO game that matter.
You legit can do quite a lot of that. Every node has a government system, an elected mayor (or not elected, there’s more than one way to be a mayor). The guild politics should not be overlooked either.
man your voice is so soothing thanks i cant wait to get into the world and help give my feedback to make the game the best it can be. Great job on the video ❤
That's kind of you to say, glad you like the voice! I too look forward to the big fresh start for A2, although I can't say the same as you, since I've already been in the world.
120 bucks is worth it if its a game i can enjoy for atleast 1 month. Do we get to keep our characters at release or do we lose it all and reset? I'm going in blind.
Somehow I have slept on this game. I have been catching up on it quickly over the last few days, and this is the first clear and concise impression I have watched. I never played Runescape and I barely remember the early days of WoW. I am getting Ultima Online vibes, is that fair to say? Thanks for the great review.
If I could do it over again, I'd use Archeage and Lineage2 as better examples. Thing is, Runescape and Classic WoW are games I've played a lot more, so they popped up into my mind. Big difference in PvP though is that Ashes should be a lot safer (less ganking, etc.) in the world.
This is answer is pretty straightforward and it really depends on 2 different fatcors....the first question is:blablabla Very much straightforward i see.
I play on a 3080ti. I'm getting between 55 and 85 fps, depending on area. Rarely sometimes there are frame drops, in certain areas, due to bugs, memory leaks or whatever, and they can stutter.
For anyone reading this I bought it because I was extremely curious to see how it ran. On a 13700k/32gb 6000mhz/4080 at 3440x1440 at max settings the starting zone where everyone loads in at I was sitting at 92fps with dips to 78. With frame gen on it mostly stayed at 144, with dips to 120, sometimes even 100.
Performance is absolutely lacking, and it's something they will have to work hard on fixing. I am on a 3080ti. I get (usually) between 60 and 80 frames per second. There is a memory leak that happens every so often that forces you to close and reopen the game. There are also times where FPS will dip into 30s/40s. There are rare instances (bugs most likely) that cause massive drops in FPS. Networking needs a lot of word atm as there are serious problems with lag and rubber banding. This will hopefully be fixed with the server meshing update (I've heard this is a few weeks away). I could do a video on this topic, but not until we're all in, and we can cover it properly once the Alpha 2 starts. Thanks for the question though! Did I answer it thoroughly enough?
@@cropivo9031 1440p for me. It's stable only while there isn't a memory leak though. And that memory leak pops up every 30 or so minutes. But, they have improved it massively. Previously, it was happening non stop.
As someone who has not put any money into this I thought this was a really good, even overview. I don't feel this game is for me but I didn't feel like you were selling anything. I think anyone who likes this game is within their rights to do so.
I do agree that paying $120 is worth it because you’ll have a lot of playtime. but having people pay that much to only allow them to play the weekend at first is ridiculous. They should’ve started at five days a week from the get go .
@@GrappLr yup I know , that’s why it’s even more silly to me that people have to wait just 1 month to play 5 days a week . With the amount of time needed to rank up it would’ve been best to start at 5 days a week .
i heard rumors, that they might increase server uptime a bit earlier but its just rumors, so dont let that tempt you to buy phase 1 if you are not sure the safest is to just wait for the first few streams and then opt in for phase 2 or you are impatient and excited like me and just go for P1 anyway (and i already know i will suffer Mon - Thu)
Can't compare the alpha 2 with a suscription since the alpha 2 will be chaotic and NOT a complete game. Remove all the downtime from maintenance, bug, dcs and you will have the true play time. Even tho you will still have bugs, very low FPS, not even 1/4 of the game. If you're gonna give the alpha 2 a value, at least do it correctly.
While you may disagree with the comparison, the math in principle is correct, you just have to adjust based on a percentile, that percentile being how much you value A2 vs full game. And 2 weeks to view people playing the A2 should give enough time to make the judgement call.
120 dollars for a super unfinished game with maybe 10% of the things it will have once it actually comes out is insane to me. The idea that you are saving money as this is going to be a sub to play game does not make sense as you aren't getting that much content. Don't waste your money, guys
@@GrappLr You're the one who made the "Well over $300 in value" argument though. In what universe is a $15 per month subscription for a fully released game even remotely comparable to QA testing an unpolished, incomplete alpha version of the game?
@@harbhub It's worse than that. Force Gaming said that you only have access to 20% of one biome, and there is supposed to be 18 different biomes on release.
@@MrAgmoore I read more and its even worse than that. The alpha is only up for 3 day periods each week, with the potential to be lifted to 5 days per week.
I work full time and play other games so I wont really play this enough to justify the price tag or help much with actual testing during Alpha2 and beyond. Their monthly sub model is a big turn off especially since it is very slow progression and I wont be able to get my money's worth each month. The game still has a long way to go from what I have seen so far. Its a pass for me
It's far too early to be able to decide exactly how I'll approach the early weeks of Alpha, whether I'll be doing lots of guild content, lots of solo content, or maybe just small group content. But I'll keep things updated on here and on my stream. What kind of community guild content do you think would be fun to make? I'm always open to more ideas.
@@GrappLr I don't exactly know, but i'd say it would be fun to play with your community, farming content and help with crafting and guild shinanegans with somewhat "familiar" faces than purely random interest driven guild choice. Also i guess it would be fun to mass group PvP or content farming if that's a big thing in AoC but i'm not that knowledgable about the game. Just a long time viewer making his mind about this game and what's to come !
Next time it costs 200, just calculate that if you play for 100 hours, you only pay 2 per hour. Where else can you get so much entertainment for 2? Do you realize how stupid it is to argue like that? You pay money to test an alpha. You should actually get paid for doing the work. It's just cheeky to ask for a sum of money for an alpha version. You pay 120 just to play Alpha 2, if you want a beta or the main game you have to pay again. How can you not understand that such a practice is more of a scam.
Nobody gets paid to test Alphas like this, ever. IDK where people keep spouting this from. QA isn't the same job or function as inviting 100k people to test breaking servers.
GrappLr doing an AoC video? Unexpected. But maybe since LoR went the way it did, he moved content. I been out of touch when it comes to LoR creators for a while now since IO lost interest in what LoR became.
@@GrappLr I still stand by my statement that any alpha that you have to pay to get into is not worth the money. People are fine with paying a company to test a product for them, and it's really bizarre.
$120 for 1.5-2 years free game time? That doesn't sound free. Value for money is the basis, not how long you can play something for. Because your theory would mean the cheapest game is the best value. If you want a real audience maybe provide some real perspective because you lost me 50 seconds in
I made 2 assumptions there. One was that the audience is willing to pay 15 dollar a month for a finished MMORPG that they enjoy. The second assumption was that they would tie together my first comment of "IF you think you'll enjoy this game" with my second explanation of what the game is about. I think I solidified my point of waiting a few days before buying and seeing some streams first.
Explain? From what I tried to convey, I was saying "In terms of entertainment value and longevity of gameplay, 120 USD is probably worth it, IF you plan to play it for 2+ years". Secondarily, I was trying to put into words what kind of game Ashes is, so people can then make a judgement call on whether the "IF" would apply to them.
@@GrappLr You said progression is very slow, it's a pvx game so expect ganks and it's sandboxy like runescape twice. It's just me nitpicking though haha, great vid I agree with your assessment!!
Except for the PvP, this sounds a LOT like Final Fantasy 11 back in the day and I gotta admit I'm curious. When you say low drop rates on gear, that does kinda worry me. I don't mind having to work for great gear, provided we aren't talking sub-1% rates (something that drove me INSANE back then and still does, I hate when games disrespect my time) but I also need to know if this game does vertical or horizontal progression. One of the biggest turn offs for me with modern MMOs is vertical progression, where gear is just a number for stats going up. Again, that's a huge part of why I played FFXI for a decade straight, because even some of the level 1 stuff was still valuable at level cap due to unique effects and there was a lot of fun trying to collect all the really busted items - something 14 has sworn off since 2.0 (and to this day my biggest gripe with it and Yoshida)
At the moment, the great progression is very vertical. And I absolutely agree with you, I think some horizontal progression (like WoW Classic with trinkets, etc.) is awesome to have. But it's super early, and I'd say that their real gear design is far from finished. Anything could happen there. Also, all the best gear comes from crafting. Lastly, while it is slow, in a 5 day playtest, I was able to gear up very well for my level, so while it might be slow to start, you don't need to grind forever either. You'll get there.
why does it make the game "lame" for you, just because of that? i personally think sub is the best kind of monetization for MMORPG's especially when its going to be a non P2W MMO
@@hmp01 i get what you are saying i think, but i prefer the sub personally that way its more guaranteed to not have P2W, dont have many bots (if they do take counte measures, ofc), less toxic and childish behaviour and overall more playberase quality imo also it helps for future content updates but only for MMORPG for other games im 100000% with you

THE CALIFORNIA FTB has suspended Intrepids business license. They have put a lien against his home. Why? Failure to pay millions in taxes. Steven is talking about outsourcing development to another studio. cool. The last studio he outsourced to? They refused to pay. Got sued, lost, still refused to pay. They had to file another motion to get Intrepid to pay. This part is super interesting. Why did intrepid refuse to pay? It was for the battle royal, in case you didnt know what the outsourcing was for. The battle royal that was there for testing. The battle royal that was an alpha, and used simply to test things. Announced to the community. Why did intrepid refuse to pay though? Because it "wasnt up to standards". interesting. It was an alpha. You mean intrepid is making an argument that an alpha wasnt up to standards? even for an alpha? But wait, how on earth could they make that argument while simultaneously using "its an alpha" to ignore all criticism of their development. How unoriginally hypocritical. Steven has gone on many tangents saying that Ashes of creation is entirely self funded. This is a violation, and he should be outright sued for this. The same way Elon Musk was sued and lost for saying he had a firm offer to take a company private when he didnt. Ever heard of Jason Caramanis? How about Ya-Ya Holdings Inc? Ashes is NOT self funded. Ignore the fact theirs almost 30 liens against him, his house, and his business. He is selling "shares" of intrepid for funding. This is the same as putting your company up on the stock exchange, just with little to no rules in comparison. How come Stevens name isnt on ANY of the legal paperwork of Intrepid? Because he owes millions in taxes. Keep deleting my comment because it shows just how wrong you are, and how your ignorance and access journalism is leading to multiple more people being scammed out of their money. LEts go ahead and just straight up debunk your argument. you have no idea how much "free playtime" you will get. it changes all the time, and persistent isnt for a long time and who knows how much longer it will run after persistent hits. Also, acting like that playtime in which you are literally performing a job for the company is the same value as a completed game time sub is just straight up ludicrous and stupid.
Paying 120$ to test a game is madness... And saying it's worth it, is just delusion. Also, the "playtime" is a silly argument, because you'll lose all the progress, since steven explicitly stated that this 120$ key is ONLY for Alpha testing, nothing you do in this phase will translate to when the game launches.
@GrappLr and you certainly live up to the expectations we've all come to expect from a content creator engaging in access journalism huffing massive amount of copium and toxic positivity. I have not one, but multiple alpha keys. I am a Kickstart on one account, and have other voyager pack accounts. the game is an empty mess. it's been 7 years. the fact is, noone should be buying keys anymore. come the 25th you are going to see a massive outcry from the community when people realize if this was 7 years of development, it's not going to release until 2040. Also, once you engage in access journalism, you're about as trustworthy as a prince from India calling about your Microsoft account.

To each their own my dude. I think the game, when not lagging, feels really nice. There definitely is a lack of content though.
It’s complete garbage. Every one of us that bought into this got robbed.
There should have been a explanation that the game is currently not really suppossed to be playable. Its an Alpha.
It's why I emphasize that there should be no rush to buy the key until November 8th. Gives people 2 weeks to realize. this from watching streams/videos.
Usually, it's better for people to see for themselves that the game is not complete, than telling them that it's not.
Bump this
He shouldn't have to explain that it's in alpha when alpha is in giant letters right under the title. If someone is too dense to know what an alpha is, they shouldn't spend money on it. Simple.
such pog much wow i really love the relaxing sound and the commentary
no Kapp? Haha, appreciate it!
You sir are, perfect at explaining things. Well done you convinced me to take a decision, thank you so much.
Its too expensive for a unfinished game we wont see in the next 5+ years and sadly i hate forced pvp ,as soon as there a more players or on release its just gonna be a mass slaughter everywhere. But good luck to you and nice review
So a few points:
@@MrAgmoore Back in UO 1997/1998, I was getting slaughter non stop, 2 years later I was on the top of the food chain 1999/2000.

I tried to think of a witty response and have absolutely failed. You win this one.

It's a hard video to make, because the question of "worth" is subjective, and differs from person to person. That's why I split the question into two different aspects. I don't think you're wrong, if looked at from a different perspective.
Can you talk about tech used behind Ashes and how is the performance atm? Shard? open world? loading screens? lag and desync at 10, 20, 100+ ?
Atm draw distance is severely limited when too many people are around. I believe though that they havnt implemented server meshing yet, which hopefully resolves that
It would be nice to see more such reviews man!
Maybe we'll make more!
I’m shocked I haven’t heard more people making EQ and FFXI comparisons for ashes. It’s a slow burn social game. Some people love slow burns (like me - been playing classic FFXI forever at this point).
I never played either of those, so not something I'm comfortable comparing it to. I've done games like Archeage, Albion, etc.
@CestPasFaux-kt9zq oh yeah. I bought in about four years ago.
@CestPasFaux-kt9zq I do
@CestPasFaux-kt9zq I have no idea what you’re talking about.
To play whatever seems like the most fun, and hopefully settle on something long term eventually.
Maybe I missed it somewhere, but does buying the alpha key give access also to the later beta, and eventual game itself?
Later betas, yes. I think it includes like 1 month of game time on launch. There's no box price for the game, only month sub.
Hi GrappLr. I know this is a bit of a tangent, but have you ever played POE and do you like it? Do you think you are interested in trying POE 2?
I’ll 100% try poe2!
I've been surprised to find out that a lot of people don't even know that the inspiration for the game is from Lineage 2 and Archeage.
Great video! I just watched two of your vids and love them! Great work, do not let the Toxicnubs hinder you. rofl
I've been streaming and youtubing for years now, they've never gotten to me :) Thanks and glad you liked the vid!
The "keys" was the question I was seeking an answer to....thanks.

Kirito indeed :) We'll all live long enough to experience SAO one day IRL.
How would you compare ashes to throne and liberty?
Two entirely different games.
AoC has zero P2W, TnL is fully P2W.
AoC is a sandbox mmorpg, TnL is a full on themepark MMORPG.
AoC is in early Alpha, TnL is fully developed.
Good vid mate, was informative. There are way too many people thinking the alpha test is early access or something. This is a true alpha, it’s nowhere near done. Save your money and see if it’s good when they actually release it.
It's a very viable move. Especially if there's lots of other games you want to play. Waiting for release is absolutely the safest play.
I think you’ll be surprised by how uncommon it will be to get killed if you’re not attacking anyone. The punishment system for pking is very strict.
Great video, but I do think current price (both EA keys and subscription model) is too steep to justify, at least for me. Especially since there are cheaper alternatives on the market.
Totally fair opinion to hold. It’s very subjective
Under Alpha Two key for 120$ it says 1 month play. Yet you said if you buy it now for 120$, you have access until its launched (2 years). Which is it, im confused? Thanks in advance
It’s what I said before.
This is the dream game for me, wow style gameplay + EVE pvp rules, please be good.
Please be good indeed!
Haha 😄 nice to see Tams did a good job
Tams is great
I don't know about "worth it" since it's all subjective but for me it is possibly. however, I'm starved for an MMO so maybe I may mostly because I'm indecisive and I've never played an old-school MMO like this before besides old WoW and ffxi, so I'd like to try out everything the game has to offer class wise and all of that prior to launch so I know what I want to do because I tend to become indecisive and do very little and redo things in the early parts of an MMO and then I burn myself out.

Where's the Developer log/Showcase that covers and details their progress on PvP and the systems designed to deter griefing???
Super long ago. I can maybe make a vid on it. Or stop by the stream any time and I’ll explain it in detail.
Two concerns I have ... Add a mouse sensitivity setting and Mark the damn vendors .

what im trying to say is:
whoever spends this much for an obvious alpha, without looking for more information and/or doing research on lt and expects a full game, is just stupid and the opinion of this person might not be of relevance for the future of this game anyway
but you are right that it will definitely happen with some people

@@Cyrsztof Correct.
don't care about the mechanical gameplay, I want to hear about the sociopolitical tools.
Slower progression all the way. The mental milestones you make for yourself is an experience not just like older MMO's, but life too.

Best I can do.
I just want FPS numbers, why do ZERO people who have access not show the performance?
I play on a 3080ti. I'm getting between 55 and 85 fps, depending on area.
Rarely sometimes there are frame drops, in certain areas, due to bugs, memory leaks or whatever, and they can stutter.
@@GrappLr what resolution/settings/DLSS or no? But thank you regardless 🙏
@@Orlyy 1440p. Ultra (although low/medium/ultra make very little difference). DLSS not sure.

With frame gen on it mostly stayed at 144, with dips to 120, sometimes even 100.
Hi, can you talk about the performance? What system did you play on, at what resolution, with what settings, and how many FPS did you get?

I do agree that paying $120 is worth it because you’ll have a lot of playtime. but having people pay that much to only allow them to play the weekend at first is ridiculous. They should’ve started at five days a week from the get go .
You could wait for Phase 2 in December and pay 10 dollars less, for 5 days a week.
@@GrappLr yup I know , that’s why it’s even more silly to me that people have to wait just 1 month to play 5 days a week . With the amount of time needed to rank up it would’ve been best to start at 5 days a week .
i heard rumors, that they might increase server uptime a bit earlier
but its just rumors, so dont let that tempt you to buy phase 1 if you are not sure
the safest is to just wait for the first few streams and then opt in for phase 2
or you are impatient and excited like me and just go for P1 anyway

I thought it was only access on the weekends.
So, Phase 1 is Friday to Sunday. Phase 2 (starts in December) is 5 days a week. Phase 3 (starts in May) is 24/7.
Dude, of course is not worth it, what are you even talking about

But we are playing an almost identical build to what is expected at A2 launch.
Next time it costs 200, just calculate that if you play for 100 hours, you only pay 2 per hour. Where else can you get so much entertainment for 2? Do you realize how stupid it is to argue like that?

Any alpha will not be worth 120 bucks. Especially when you're there to test a game for only 2 days.
3 days a week, then after December, 5 days a week, and after May, 7 days a week. Not quite 2 days.
@@GrappLr I still stand by my statement that any alpha that you have to pay to get into is not worth the money. People are fine with paying a company to test a product for them, and it's really bizarre.
no quiver on archer ajajajai :/
I don't think this is the end of the world.
Will this be a gacha game with a lot of whales? All korean and chinese mmo are games for whales only
Thankfully it's not Korean, nor Chinese. It's American, with zero pay to win whatsoever, just a monthly sub fee.
Bro you said the same things twice over just slightly differently lol
It's just me nitpicking though haha, great vid I agree with your assessment!!
sorry i wont continue watching when you said $120 is worth spendingg on a third person mobile graphics alpha citizens
To each their own, but that’s not what I said, it’s a simplification that doesn’t translate
Only 60 hours? So ur not max lvl? Also, you literally read v1 and v2 of the same damn script.
No script, I did this live on Twitch. Not sure what you mean?
LOL is it worth it review for an Alpha
Yup :)
I hope I win the giveaway
Good luck dude
wait ashes will be a sub game? are you joking? hahahah well. that changes everything
this just became the lamest game ever
btw sick hairline brother
Sub games are not for everyone. I personally prefer it though.
why does it make the game "lame" for you, just because of that?
i personally think sub is the best kind of monetization for MMORPG's
especially when its going to be a non P2W MMO
@@chickenbob562 beacuse I think buy-to-play is how it should be, everyone is trying to milk your monthly salary I think it's over the top
@@hmp01 i get what you are saying i think, but i prefer the sub personally
that way its more guaranteed to not have P2W, dont have many bots (if they do take counte measures, ofc), less toxic and childish behaviour and overall more playberase quality imo
also it helps for future content updates
but only for MMORPG
for other games im 100000% with you
@@chickenbob562 look man, you have no idea how many things and games are asking for my monthly money. people asking for money for reshade mods on patreon every fifa game I buy I have to pay for patreon mods monthly, adobe to use photoshop, ableton to make music, paying credit for my apartment, paying for cars in assetto corsa mods, I mean I could write for an hour but I wont bore you with it. poe is a free to play game never went p2w showing every model for a game is possible. they release leagues every 3 months and don't ask for monthly pay
2 years of testing someone else s game for 120$. dont fall for this shit guys
No, the answer is no there saved you 6 minutes
Lineage players will play this till end of time
Let's hope it's the case!
Well, you certainly live up to your username.
@@GrappLrhis other account is probably bitchcry&moan.
ya this is a shit review like all the others lol
