    I plugged my B80 into my EB3A and smoke poured out of it. I contacted Bluetti Service and had a new one within 3 weeks. They do ask you to send video of the problem and you physically packaging the device, so save the original box. Bluetti Customer Service Rocks!

    I have been using a 12V to 24V DC to DC 10 Ah converter (about 35 dollars) ... and I clock the output Anderson with the + turned 90 degrees to not plug in a 12V load. I have a dedicated Anderson to yellow connector cable .. and plug it into my EB55. It jumps it up to the 195 watt range as well. I use my coach/rig LiFePO4 100 amp battery to do the charge. It seems the only lacking factor is not having a solar charger but the radio shack, two vehicles and other all have solar or driving that keeps the LiFePO4 charged up anyway. It works great.

    $600-$700 B80@ 806wh...
    $500 24v 100Ah Lifepo4 battery with 7909 pigtail @2560wh, more than 3x the storage.
    Buy a power station for the outlets that satisfy your needs, get a Lifepo4 battery for any additional power you find yourself needing after🙂 (remember you'll need to charge this Lifepo4 battery so cheap grid charger or mppt or both🤷🏼‍♂️) Still cheaper route than the external batteries these companies sell. Use any V battery just don't let the nominal exceed your power stations input V

    I like the idea of being able to top off my EB3A on the fly like that but the B80 is steep right now. Can buy a ac180 for almost the same price with discount and have a whole other unit.

      See m y comment on this post. I use a 12V to 24V DC to DC converter for about 35.00 and I use various 12V systems to feed it .. 12 V in out 24V and it works great.

    Excellent presentation. Thank you. I have a Li Time Mini 12v (about $260 for 100ah) and will run a cable straight into the EB70 12v input. It will charge the EB70 at 100w until the Li Time gets practically empty with no losses from using a boost converter. If you need or want more than 100w, you can do a 24v or higher boost converter at higher watts/amps but there will be some parasitic losses with using one. Overall, much cheaper for more power and a smaller form factor. You can get 2-3 mini's for the price of one EB80.

    • @realJohnLab

      Have you ever compared the loss when using the boost?

    • @markmonroe7330
      @markmonroe7330 9 месяцев назад

      @@realJohnLab I actually have. I have done testing with several boost converters by various vendors and capacities. They all seem to lose around 10% plus/minus on the conversion. For example, the watts going to the battery might be around 115 watts but the actual draw into the converter will be 130'ish. At that level you are losing one full amp on the conversion which in my mind is a lot. There is a new Orion XS coming out that claims 98+% on the conversion. I plan to buy one as soon as they are available to test their claims but they are still a couple of months out as of February.

      @@markmonroe7330 10% isn’t terrible assuming you rather have speed over efficiency but those cheap Amazon boost converts are sketchy. I did hear about that new one. If it is really 98%… that’s ridiculous.

    Great simple educational instruction on how the B80 can be used separate from the AC60! Keep your eye out on the Bluetti live events on RUclips and Facebook as i saw a really great price of $384 (just during the live event with a code that they provide). I bought one of these just for that purpose! Thanks

    The EB3A has been a great Mini Power Station for our uses. We love it for travel; as it replaces all of our traditional charging bricks, including my laptop. It also works well with our 12V fridge. I'm not sure I would add the B80 to the EB3A, but that is great for folks more into the Bluetti ecosystem.

  • @junkerzn7312
    @junkerzn7312 10 месяцев назад +1

    Yah, that DC7909 connector on the EB55 is actually *very* weird. It is more or less a direct connection to the internal battery. No regulation at all, only switched. So the voltage has to be correct and the source also has to be current limited. And that is precisely what the EB55's (noisy) AC charging adapter does.
    The solar inputs on all of these units is fairly inefficient, but since it is designed to also handle car adapters (12-14V @ 8A), it works quite nicely with a 12V or 24V as the source, also at roughly 8A. 100W @ 12.8V, 200W @ 25.6W, approximately.

    Hi David,
    Bluetti is one of the best if not the best power station companies. I hope you get a chance to review their new AC 200L. It looks like it checks all the boxes.
    Thanks, Steve.

    I use my Licitti battery box to charge my Bluetti AC180. I use a cable with an anderson plug and MC4 connectors and use the Bluetti MC4 cable with the DC plug. I only get 100 watts, but if you'e not in a hurry, it works well. The anderson plug I use on the battery box goes directly to the battery.

    These are interesting charging solutions, and something folks really should be aware of, but what's even MORE cool is to buy relatively inexpensive 2nd-life batteries, of a suitable voltage, and use those as fake solar input to extend the runtime of the more expensive portable power station units.

    • @junkerzn7312
      @junkerzn7312 10 месяцев назад +2

      Also great in a power outage where your main power station is busy powering critical bits and pieces and can't be moved. You can just rotate an external battery in and out and charge the external battery elsewhere/by-other-means without disrupting critical power delivery.
      I used this method that last year when we had a 2-day power outage. The power station only had enough suds to run the fridge around 24 hours on its own. Changing out an external battery on its solar input every 12 hours or so kept it going indefinitely.

    I’m confused and maybe disappointed. I have the AC180 and just ordered a B80 which I thought would work as expansion battery. It’s OK that it doesn’t, I think. I keep the AC 180 attached to my Internet devices (modem, routers, Ring) so when I am out of the country for months at a time, I have peace of mind that I will maintain Internet monitoring of my home.
    I see the only input on the P80 is an external adapter going into a DC input. My intention is to run the B80 in power bank mode to the AC180s DC input. Can I keep both of these devices plugged into AC and use it as a near UPS? Am I correct that I can use both as pass-thru? Does the B80 AC power adapter sound as horrible as the EB55 AC adapter? Does my plan even work as I desire?

    Thanks David, it’s still not clear to me what it’s incapable of doing for the Eb3a. It seems like at the very least it will keep it charged in a pass through fashion? Or at least as long as an appliance/device doesn’t drain the Eb3a faster than the B80 can charge it? Or neither(that would suck!)

    • @junkerzn7312
      @junkerzn7312 10 месяцев назад +1

      You have it precisely. The input is trickle-charging the power station while the output tends to be powering more sporatic loads (like a fridge). As long as the average is higher on the input, you are golden for indefinite operation. And even if not, it greatly extends the run-time.
