Sorry the narration is a bit quiet on this one, I used a different mic and it didn't work so well. Will make sure to improve it for next time!
Also forgot to mention that we replaced the turnbuckles with solid bars and added some more supports higher up as well. I'm away from the boat at the moment so wasn't able to get any clips of those modifications.

You should have a "normalize" function for audio in your editor, normalise to -6 DB on each clip and you'll get better audio and more consistent when switching mics. If you don't have that function I'd highly recommend the free DaVinci Resolve editor :)

..... a mess of the boat. That was an understatement! ''Trashed'' would have been a better expression.

That looks like a powerful solar panel setup. I am looking forward to seeing how you are going to manage your charging and power distribution. Keep safe and all the best for 2021.

Hi great done video..! Sound very quiet tho..lol
Not sure on your assembly method..?
In a blow ..its definitely going to get torn completely off ..
Invest in some slide on ..clamp on 25mm fittings ..
    Sorry to say this....
but it is still a totally inadequate job ..!
Drilling through your tubing has drastically weakened / compromised it..
    It requires totally
    re-bracing ..take a look at a pylon ... ?
I'd put stainless steel 25mm spray dodger type fittings on.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings... but it's sortable now.. before fighting in a 25Knt blow ...good luck 👍

Thanks for the concern. We've already reinforced it since this video was taken and it's holding up well, held together fine in 50+ knot winds :)

@@BethanyIvy hi if your OK with it ..thats cool.
One job I can remember a full radar support was lashed on with ropes .. and worked well.
Generally you won't see drilling and bolting stainless tube..?
as i said it severely compromises its strength.
That's why you'll be hard pressed to find that type of construction assembly used on arches and radar towers.
But if you think its "good to go"
      That's all what matters ...👍
      While I'm on a roll... I hope you've
Clipped that diesel fuel pipe under the rear locker?? (Its Going to rub through) 👍

You are drilling through a cored deck. Did you remove some core and replace with epoxy? Did you countersink the holes and seal with a good quality butyl tape? If not you are going to damage the deck and lose a lot of strength.

@@BethanyIvy Yes go on Bethany, stick it to that bloody pompous twat - some people just LOVE to catch others out. You could almost taste his delight at the prospect that you hadn't blocked the core. I feel sorry for people like him - they have very deep-rooted v(and usually well-earned!) inferiority complexes that can only be assuaged by trampling on the delight of others.

Hi both, Happy New Year! I hope the latest Welsh lockdown hasn’t been too onorous. It was really interesting to see how you put the panel’s up, well done! ⛵️

Nice video! How is the solar and batteries holding up?

    • @BethanyIvy

Perfectly, the panels are happily powering my fridge and laptop charger as we speak! Upgraded the batteries to AGMs in late 2021 as the old ones were ancient, they've been great so far.

They said bifacial and 2m by 1m. So it sounds like the LG Neon 2 Bifacial 400W. There's also a 415W model: www.bimblesolar.com/LG-415W-bifacial-solar-J5

They're similar to the LG ones Mihai mentions, but they're made by JA Solar.

How much power are you producing each day?

    • @BethanyIvy
      @BethanyIvy  3 года назад +2

We're in the rainy UK which is not where we were planning to be this winter. It's not producing very much. But if we were in the Mediterranean like we planned, I would expect upwards of 4000Wh per day. Hopefully we'll make it there for next winter! :)

    Hi,
Where did you buy your pipe and deck fittings from please? I live in South Wales and want to build a solar arch which also acts as davits for my tender.

    • @BethanyIvy

We searched google maps for a local metal supplier. There should be one in any sizeable city, and it's much cheaper than buying online.

You could order 1" pipe from Metals4U they deliver and fittings for 1" pipe on EBay (1" bimini fittings)
