Spot on. It took me a week or 2 to memorize and about 2 months to build up the speed. Getting up to 90% speed isn't too bad, but that last 10% feels like my fingers are going to fly off.
@@johanmanoj6013 Wow, I actually manage to play this one (not 100% accurately - more of a sloppy live version of kirk) and I wouldnt even attempt trying creeping death... when i hear it & see someone play it i get the impression that it sounds way harder.. maybe i should give it a try!
Didn’t expect this. One of metallica’s hardest solos. Great work! Edit: oh, and you make it look so easy! This is the first time i’ve meant it when i said this.
"I'M IN HELL WITHOUT YOU!!!!" Needed to keep going! Lol. Making it look easy, Fu*cking Awesome! Nice way to kick off a Saturday. Now have to put the cd in and crank it up! :)
Its a hard solo but mainly bcuz of speed. Even tho kirks solos r often easier to learn no one can take away how fast he actually was on those solos in the 80s ....
I love the right pinky on the 6th string, not sure if intended muting or just a point of support, but I bet it cleans the track a lot. I used to play guitar and had my palm mute on point, now I play bass with fingers, which unabled my palm mute, so I had to learn how to do the thumb mute.
Deeply amazed by your work man ! The best part is it put original artist work to new light, as your Mix is much clearer. I'm curious what is your gear ? I think I remember you told me for the Top Gun cover you used Line 6 Pod Mesa Boogie preset. i have a Mark V and cannot sound half as sharp, maybe adding a parametric EQ would help ...
Thanks for the comments. I sold the Pod and moved to a Helix for more realistic modeling. I'm happy with it, but it has taken a lot more effort to get the tones I wanted. When it comes to shaping tone, EQ is everything. The tone only starts once it hits your recording software. I usually pass guitar tracks through Waves CLA Guitars for a little stereo widening and then into an SSL-style EQ before it hits the mix bus, which has pultec-style EQ, saturation, and a few odds and ends that add sparkle. The mix bus makes a huge difference. If I were to run the tone out of a modeler right into Pro Tools and stop there, it wouldn't sound anything like the finished song. It would sound pretty muddy. You could go back to anything I uploaded pre-2017 for those kinds of raw, unaltered tones. Definitely look into adding more EQ into your signal chain (pre or post-record).
Y para muchos Metallica no es acreedor de ser llamado trash, porque en sus últimos CD's cambio su estilo ,yo no sé nada de música, pero si se de gustos musicales y METALLICA llena mi sentido auditivo
for me it's the Kirk's better solo (1:17)... has everything: fast scale runs, tremlo picking, tapping, hammer ons, full offs, full step bends on the 22nd fret ... wtf
no joke. This, along with fight with fire, master of puppets and battery are probs the fastest songs they ever did, and making it through is incredibly hard, both for the picking hand and fretting hand
Is there a reason as to why you hold the pick in two different ways? From 02:05 you hold it in what I believe is a much stronger and "professional" way. I'm actually surprised you can play so well with the way you hold the pick in the initial rhythm parts and through the solo. :O
Old habits die hard. When it comes to solos, I don't think I've ever held the pick traditionally. I can't get the tone I like during those precision parts. I've tried relearning to hold a pick a few times, but inevitably give up and move on. It's certainly not as stable as I'd like it to be, but breaking a 25 year old habit is difficult to say the least.
WOW !!! AWESOME !! How long time takes you since reading tabs into this performance ? I' m currently practising Maste of Puppets solo. This would be my next. Apreciate your time and thank for sharing your skill with us !! Greeting from Poland ! Don't stop doing Metallica
I've been playing for around 25 years now, but I've seen 10 year olds play better than me. There are too many factors to consider when asking how long it might take to learn a song. For me though, I'd rate Dyers Eve and Fight Fire with Fire to be two of Metallica's most difficult that I've ever played. Some of the licks are lightning fast. I wouldn't let that discourage you though - put the time in and you'll get it down.
I love your videos man, btw in previous vids you wrote that u have the 602 but the 602 doesn't have that white mark on the fingerboard at the 24. what's w that?
Thanks, I spent a while making a new tone for this one. I had the recording mostly complete, but the tone I usually use just made it sound sloppy...couldn't figure out why I wasn't liking how it sounded so it sat for a few weeks. I finally ended up making a new tone for it, and re-recorded everything. Turned out much tighter the second time around. If you happen to have a Pod HD500X, I'll gladly send over my tones.
The tempo. There are a few parts that are difficult just due to the furious pace. My guess is that Kirk used alternate picking, but my right hand couldn't keep up with it, so I used some more economical/sweep picks at 1:18 and 1:51. 1:51 went from incredibly sloppy to easily playable when I adjusted my picking pattern. I was beating my head against a wall trying to alternate pick that. Kirk is just a machine.
To this day I still don’t understand how Metallica made E standard so goddamn heavy 🤟
Layers of guitar, more layers, lots of distortion, and anger
probably the key of E minor

Tbh it really doesn't look that hard. I bet with lots of practice you can get it down in a couple of months

I can say, it's a very epic comeback.

The Justice album was Kirk’s best work!
So correct!!

Kirks best solo work is St. Anger.
