  • Denmark's Royal Family | Denmark's New King Attends Parliament After Enthronement | N18V | News18
    Frederik and Mary arrived at the Folketing in a royal limousine and were greeted by Gade and senior lawmakers. Margrethe stood at the top of the stairs to the Christiansborg Palace and saw her son and daughter-in-law arrive. Inside, the royals sat on the royal balcony overlooking the 179-member Folketinget assembly.

    Understand this: the royale family is part of living in Denmark. They are real people to us, and that's why we love them. We give them space when needed but we are there for them.

      Perhaps I should add that the Danish frogmen are an extreme version of the US Navy Seals, one of the thing they are trained to do, other than extreme diving missions, is to jump from one airplane to the next in a rescue mission in open air, in case of a terror attack.

    I can add, that the Reigning Monarch is only a guest in Parliament ( Folketinget ) To be presented to the Members. He was welcomed by the Chairman of the Parliament. And the PM held a short speech. She also read out loud a short Statement from the new King. The Reigning Monarch NEVER officially speaks in Parliament.

    I wish news people would work a little harder and learn that in Denmark new monarchs are neither crowned nor coronated: they are simply proclaimed from the balcony of Christiansborg by the prime minister.
    They also need to learn that Amalianborgproclaimed, a complex of four palaces of uniform exterior architecture in Copenhagen, is the residence of Danish royals. By contrast, Christiansborg slot [in Danish "slot" denotes both the notion of "palace" and that of "castle"] is the seat of government containing facilities for all three branches.

      Your assumptions are making a fool of you. Have you had double knee surgery plus major back surgery. We have known her all of her 52 years of reign and believe you me, the only reason for her abdication is her health. She is not a well lady. Her mother was also a very ill lady at the end of her life, but she could resign. Margrethe II could traditionally not, however she has changed a lot in the Royal House for the better. Her privilege and right. It has come out that she has been mulling over the thought of abdicating since her back surgery. I suspect that she is in pain. Surgery doesn't guarantee no pain afterwards. This is okay. But don't assume to compare our Royal family to the British and our heart for them. We are hugely protective of them. The media is playing Mary out against Frederik and that isn't right. Without Frederik there would be no Queen Mary. They are a unit.

    • @k7u5r8t4
      @k7u5r8t4 7 месяцев назад

      No, nothing changes in that regard. He is still Prince Joachim. And 5th in line after the 4 children of our new King and Queen. The next in line after Joachim would be HIS 4 children. Which is why their "titles" were changed recently by the former Reigning Queen Margrethe II. Because they will never actually be close to become the Reigning Monarch. For each new child born in the direct line to the Throne, Joachim and his children will be one step further down the list. So many commenters read all kind of things into this. But it is really straight forward. To secure the survival of the Monarchy, the most prominent "Titles" need to be only for the ones closest to the Throne.

    • @k7u5r8t4
      @k7u5r8t4 7 месяцев назад +2

      The reason is "privy" to most people in Denmark!! Queen Margrethe II has undergone major back surgery recently. And is obviously slowed down fysically by that. She simply cannot perform all her usual duties as well, as she WANTS to be able to. Frederik and Mary have done a lot more of that recently anyway, so the logical solution was to hand over to them officially. Also Christian, the now Crown Prince turned 18 late last year, so HE can also slowly take over some duties now. We are not "missing" any of that info!

      As a dane I whole heartedly disagree. Our royals are representatives internationally, who help bring in a lot of business to Denmark, that then benefits the common man, both in terms of workplaces and taxes, it’s a profit business. Besides that our royals is something that bring our country together, recent polls showed an 80 something percent approval rating, we love our royals!

      Our royal family is not political. They don’t vote, or publicly support any political parties.

      We know them and cherish them for their enduring devotion to Denmark, danish culture and the danish people.

      If you really care that much about workers/"farmers" rights, I'm pretty sure there's 1000 things going on right now around the world demanding your immediate attention and outrage. Heck, even in the US alone. A single small family getting a couple of million dollars for dressing up in make believe clothes as to attract tourists and raise the country's GDP is such a tiny tiny drop in an almost infinitely huge bucket. Plus it's not like they get the job with full impunity (like trust fund kids do). The first time the population deems one of them incompetent for the job and not worth the investment, they'll simply get overthrown.

    Denamark is not Europe's oldest monarchy, Scotland is. The Scottish monarchy was founded in 843 AD, followed by Norway in 885 AD and then Denmark in 936 AD. Scotlaand was on it's eighth monarch, Constantine II, when Gorm the Old became the first Danish King.

      Both Scotland and Norway´s monarchys have been "broken" many times.. Denmark´s have not been broken a single time since 936. And therefore Denmark IS the oldest kingdom and monarchy in Europe.
      1. Scotland monarchy is no more, stopped in 1707.
      2. Norway´s monarchy was broken in 1387 with the death of Olav/Olaf 2./ Olaf 3. (same person) From there the mornachy of Norway died out, and was newfounded by a danish prince in 1905.

      Denmark´s monarchy is also older then 843... The oldest known King of Denmark was in 804 (died in 810)... And before there we had 300 years or so with "legend" kings

      @@JesperSandgreen Scotland's monarchy did not stop in 1707. When the English Royal Family died out in 1603 the Scottish Royal Family took over and it continues through the British Royal Family. Scotland has never ceased to be a monarchy. Norway continued to be a monarchy, except it did not have a native King. It was ruled by Danish and then Swedish Kings but it still remained a monarchy. As for Denmark, tthe present Royal House in the ninth to rule the country. The present House was only distantly related to the previous House which had died out.
