- Learn how to set up a role on Discord to show when people are streaming with this YAGPDB Discord server bot tutorial!
Lots of people now have a 'LIVE NOW' role in their Discord server which shows who is live streaming, and what they are streaming! In this video I show you how to set up the 'NOW STREAMING' role, how to configure the streaming panel within YAGPDB, so that it automatically gives people a new role to show they are streaming, and displays it in the roles section of your Discord server.
Setting up a Discord role that shows when people are streaming is a great way to to give some extra Discord server engagement with this simple bot installation, and it also gives people in your server a little more exposure too!
You can also automatically send a message into a self promotion channel within your Discord server to tell people when people with this role are live!
I run through the permissions for YAGPDB for NOW STREAMING role, along with some troubleshooting and other help / guidance.

What's the best name for the role? LIVE NOW? NOW STREAMING? TWITCHIN' ?
This only works for Twitch? Is there one, or others that recognize RUclips & Discord itself, or preferably one for all three???

I followed every step and when I went to live streamers and the option for the role of LIVE NOW, EVERY role say it was (above the bot) so I could not select the role.. what can I do to beat this?

Every time I try to add the “Live Now” role it says “Role is above bot” how do you go above that?

For some reason my Yag won't assign a role, it is the highest role and i'm linked to twitch, it even says I am streaming when I stream on my profile, but it won't assign anyone to live now. When I assign it manually Yag unnasigns the role. Anyone got some advice?

@@MachineDaena hey there! unfortunately it's still not working for me. when i go to give someone a role to see it works, it won't allow me to give them a role. any ideas? i'm guessing it might have something to do with permissions but i'm not sure. any assistance would be awesome!
ive been trying to assign the the live role to members and it doesnt let me. yes they have their discord attached to their discord. is there other settings that need to be made?
Discord attached to their Discord? They need the streaming platform attached! Also, just triple check that all the permissions don't conflict each other!
thank you for the tutorial !! it works perfectly, however one issue i'm having is that the role doesn't get removed when a person is done streaming. is there a way to fix this??
Hey, thanks for watching! Oh that sounds like a bug 100%! If it’s automatically being added, and you’ve set it up exactly as the video shows, it should get removed afterwards. It might be worth joining their discord and asking for a support ticket!

For no reason i can't use the live stream role in my self. It pops off
When I change the role to live now it will just go black and return to verified role. It won’t stick as live now. Any ideas what I setup incorrectly ?

@@MachineDaena Nah, all good it's working perfect on my Dcord with Twitch. Just wish it would recognize streamers from YT. & Discord since both of those also provide streaming services, and many use them. Thanks!!! :)
I did this and when i picked a channel it said "Missing Read Messages, Send Messages" do you know how to fix it?

Hi, i am currently manager of 2 Discord servers, and i recently tried to integrate this bot to the servers, as both of servers belong to people who post video's and stream on youtube.
I made it work so that each time one posts a video, the discord gets notified.
But it won't notify people when someone is streaming.
Only when the stream is ended, and prossessed by youtube, the bot will send a notification to discord.
So clearly i'm doing something wrong here.
How do i make it so that the server members get notified when a stream is starting, and not at the end of it?
I did watch a few other video's on this, and i did everything what they said: put the bot on the top of practically all the other roles, and your streaming now role underneath it.
Still, the notification only comes when the stream has ended, and been prossessed by youtube itself.

The way you describe it working definitely sounds like an error of some sort. It should work within a few seconds if it's been set up right and there are no errors on the application side (which basically aren't in your control!).
I have to admit I've not tested this on RUclips so if this is an error with RUclips go-lives, I'm definitely less experienced on this side but make sure the you're happy with the rules, that the people going live have their Discord and RUclips connected and that the servers have the integration as described in the vid. If all else fails, you could easily jump into the Discord server for the bot and ask in there or check their FAQS.

Yes you could achieve this, but you'd need to set up a role and ensure within the bot settings on the dash that it only sends a go live notification to that new role.
You'd then need to assign that role within Discord to the person you want to get the notification!

Is there a bug, sometimes the roles don’t get to the right people and sometimes the role won’t be taken away when they’re done
I’ve not noticed a bug, and nobody else has reported one so it’s possible you set someone up incorrectly. Have you tested it with one of your friends going live? It won’t work if the respective person doesn’t have twitch linked to their discord profile, as mentioned in the vid.

YAGPDB doesn't work anymore.
so I had to manually assign the currently streaming role to one of my server members because the bot or whatever wasn't working. now, when that user goes offline on their stream, is that role going to be taken away and go back to their standard role? Or now do I have to manually remove the role myself because I manually added it?
okay so update: if I don't have an auto role assigned in the bot, that is how I can manually assign the currently streaming role. but, if I have the role selected in the bot, I can't manually assign the role in the server to that user. so, will this work if the user goes live again, or should it automatically show? cuz it's still not showing that that user in my server is live at the moment (even tho they currently are on Twitch).

@@PlayboyJasiah yeah nothing is happening on my server. nothing is posted in the channel, and the role isn't being assigned to that user to then show up on the right-hand side of the server

what if the role isnt removed when they are not live?

so how do you create it where it shows you as the admin going live?
I use YAGPDB for that :) there’s a section where it can auto post based on when your Twitch is live!

@@MachineDaena Do you have a quick video for that? It would be nice to be able to show the Admins/Leaders are also streaming. Finding the role gets locked if above Admin role.
